Very dissapointed. After a few days use, a large dark line printed on right side of paper. I was not doing a lot of heavy printing. Contacted HP - after SEVERAL hours and days of trying to explain the issue - was told it was the imaging drum and they would send a new printer. When I received the "refurbished" printer - it was only the shell. The instructions advised to remove the toner cartridge and imaging drum from old unit and install in the new unit. Obviously this did not correct the problem with the imaging drum. Again after several hours on the phone with HP - I finally talked with someone who said - all you need is the imaging drum. After waiting several weeks for the new drum to arrive - the new drum was installed. Again after a few days use, a dark mark started to appear on the page - very sporatic - one day it would print fine and the next day have the marks. Unacceptable. Very frustrated as the previous HP laser jet printer I had lasted around 9 years - which is why I went with HP again.

This printer replaced my HP P1102W which I loved. M203DW is faster and USB, Wired or Wireless connection and a much bigger footprint vs. P1102W. I did not figure out how to use a wired/ethernet connection and still have the printer available via WI-FI. I followed the install steps and was able to print via air-print from my iPhone quickly. However, I could not get the printer off thinking it was using the USB connection to my computer. Basically I could not print from my computer. I called HP support and they were very helpful. Turns out I needed to install the "full" version of the software in order to get everything to work properly. Also, there were a few manual steps and changing the IP port. I have installed several HP wireless printers and this one was a pain. Also, the printer only prints around 800 pages before the toner needs to be replaced. Also, it has a drum that needed to be replaced around 18,000 pages. Maybe that is not too bad and I will probably purchase new printer.

Really a very bad piece of tech. It can’t sustain a connection to the WiFi. So every time you want to use it you have to switch it off and on again - and that doesn’t always work either. There are numerous long winded and complex ways to try and see solve the problem on the internet but none of them appear to work. The point is that in this day and age a printer should just work - the consumer shouldn’t have to do anything other than plug it in and run through a simple set up. HP you should be ashamed of yourselves for pedaling this rubbish.

Great little printer. Out of the box-- connected to my network via both ethernet and WiFi and printing a test page in less than ten minutes . . . . No BS! It replaced my last HP LaserJet-- a 4MP which was still going strong after 17 years!! Unfortunately that one was not WiFi or USB enabled and these days thats a must. Prints quickly from my Windows and Linux PCs, my iPhone and my Android tablet, plus can use an available PostScript driver for exceptional graphics rendering. Best thing by far is the price . . . . .

First, as others mentioned the toner cartridge does not come out during initial setup. The manual vaguely indicates this. As most HPs require removal of the toner at initial setup to remove shipping tape, this is a frustration many will experience. Turn the printer on, allow it to run its first warm up cycle, and the toner can then be removed. Other item to note are the buttons on this printer which have a very low quality feel. The wireless button/indicator initially blinks trouble - this stopped once it was setup via ethernet. This printer also has a separate imaging unit, which is unusual for an HP. Print quality is fine, however the printer clicks and makes more noise than other similar HPs. This may be due to the autoduplexing unit, even though this noise occurs with non duplex printing. Overall, it appears that HP has created a low cost single function printer and added some unusual features and possibly sacrificed build quality. Time will tell in regards to how long it lasts. At this point, I would not buy again, but it is functional.

I specifically bought this printer because several helpful folks wrote in "Questions" that it would indeed add page numbers to print job. I spend quite a bit of time looking through the driver features for this option, and did not see it. Apologies if Im missing the feature. Tips would be appreciated. In any case, the reason I desperately need that feature is that Im a writer who uses Google Docs, with a book divided into one chapter per Doc, to print my manuscript I have to print each Doc/Chapter individually to maintain headers and footers, I needed a printer that adds page numbers to facilitate this process. For example, a 400 page book with 19 chapters/docs. Three stars due to hassle of trying to figure all this out, with no help from automated support at HP (the AI of a 2 year old).

WORST piece of garbage printer I have ever owned. We ordered it in June, but barely set it up a week ago. It fails to print constantly, saying "printer is offline", no matter what setting we have it on.

The transaction with Amazon was great. I wish I could say that about this printer. In my 25 years of IT, I have not seen an HP printer this bad. I bought two at the end of October, one is dead already and the other has consistent problems. Wireless connections are intermittent at best. If you need to switch back to USB because of the wifi issues, getting the correct drivers to install after the fact can be a challenge, especially for home users with less tech skill/experience. The paper tray is finicky and the toner cartridge tiny. When its running, it runs well. Keeping it running is the trick.

We have tried and tried with this printer. We never did get the wireless to work, which, you know, was the whole point of buying it. We finally hooked it up to a cable and it worked sometimes, but now it sits there, mocking us, daring us to try to print. Because it wont. After scouring the manual, trying to get support and reading endless help forums, we decided the lights are just there to be decorative and dont really mean anything. At the current moment, it is basically a lump with a cable attached to it. Next up? Landfill for you, HP Laser Jet Pro M203dw.

Ive been a dedicated "HP Only" user for many years. Purchased this printer specifically for wifi access yet it consistently loses the wifi connection. Reboot your system, try again.... works briefly then stops working. Used USB connection as an alternative and have similar issues where it just gives a message that the printer is in an error state. After using in both modes alternately just to stay functional, now the printer loses its preferences settings and goes to printing duplex. Change both in control panel or in the printing window and it still reverts to duplex after you print 2 or 3 documents. Definitely NOT the printer for reliable use.
