This printer ate 5 envelopes for every one I managed to print. I inserted brand new ink, not the ink sent with the machine, and 3 days later the machine started telling me it was low on ink. Checks were a bit better than envelopes, the machine only ate one out of three. Because of this I have spent hours trying to clean up my books. The last straw was when it managed to print an envelope (on the 3rd try) and the black ink was streaky. It hadnt said it was low on ink (again), but I replaced the cartridge. The machine did a few things and then said it did not recognize the ink cartridge, which was an exact duplicate of the one I was replacing. I got a hammer and killed it. THAT is the only satisfaction I have gotten from this machine.

As a lifelong Mac user, I have always been loyal to Epson brand printers, based in part on how seamlessly they connect to my Mac products, and how reliably well they can hold their own in the entry-level multi-function printer market. I expected great things from this model as well, based on my prior experience, in addition to the hype included in the printer specifications. I made a grave mistake. I am a busy solo attorney and I bought two of these printers around November 2017 to replace one laser copier in my office. The first three months the printers seemed to work fine, printing and copying like workhorses, and at or near the speeds that Epson touted in its advertisements. After those first three initial months though, each printer now seems to take more time communicating with my computers, takes more time to process its own internal commands, and prints exponentially slower, sometimes as frustratingly as a single b&w page per minute. I bought two of the fastest Epson models I could, but I now spend as much time waiting for it as I do preparing the documents I need to print. The scanning function seems to work fine, as does the fax function. Now, lets talk about the insatiable addiction to ink greed. Each batch of ink (covering all colors) costs about $125. The black ink (as expected) lasts a significant less amount of time than the other colors. I easily go through at least one high-capacity black cartridge per month. I mostly print b&w documents, but I find that at the end of the black inks life cycle, the color cartridges are about halfway out also. And it doesnt matter which color you print with- if you run out of one color then the printer refuses to print in any color until you replace the color that went out. I cannot recommend this model for copying or printing, and I certainly wouldnt recommend it to anyone based on the ink costs alone. Even after using Epson products almost exclusively for the past 15 years, I may be done with them based on this printer model alone. If youre considering this model, keep looking. Youve been advised.

Scanning and print speed are great with this printer. However, black and white printing led to poor quality results. I constantly had to clean the print head. I started reporting issues to Epson during the year warranty. They basically told me to turn the printer off and on or unplug it overnight. Didnt work. When paper ran out, it was reported as an error that required you to power cycle the printer. They told me to look for a paper jam. There were no paper jams. Finally they diagnosed a hardware failure. It was one month past the warranty by now. I pointed out I reported issues to them when it was under warranty. They didnt care. I was given the options were I could get it fixed with my own money or give Epson more money for a new printer. I will do neither. If you are buying from Epson, be prepared for this level of support.

I got this printer yesterday to replace another faulty printer (one from HP). While the printers functions work perfectly from a network connected computer, scanning from the printer does not work. When trying to scan from the printer using Scan to Document Capture Pro (scanning software Epson has you install on your computer when installing drivers and software), no computers are found in searches I have conducted today. Yesterday, one computer was shown, but I was limited to only scanning as a PDF. There were no options to scan as an image. In addition, the scan would only occur with the flatbed as the source, even if a document was in the ADF. Scan to Computer (WSD) (Windows native Scan and Fax utility) showed only 1 computer earlier today. Now, like yesterday, it shows 2. I have 4 computers attached to my network. Sometimes it would show computers A and B. Other times, C and D. Other times, A and C. etc. The selection of which two computers I could connect to was random. All computers were fully operational during this diagnosis, running either Windows 7 or Windows 10, some with Epsons drivers installed, some without. When I try to scan to one of these computers, the scanner does not scan from the ADF, but from the flatbed instead, even when a document is in the ADF (and the ADF indicator on the printer is lit). It will always scan from the flatbed. Nor is there an option to scan in black and white. It only scans in color. Under scanning settings, there are no options for default source, default resolution, default color, etc. The only options under Scan Settings are "Confirm Recipient" (On/Off) and "Email Server" settings. I called Epson tech support. I get connected to tech support based in India. They went through their lengthy steps and were of no help. They put me on hold several times to only repeat previous steps. Im hoping the problem lies with the firmware that was pushed to this printer when I first connected it to my network. Im returning this printer for a replacement to see if default firmware works better. I will update my review with the results. Why cant any company produce a good AIO printer? Canon, terrible reviews/reliability. Brother, terrible reviews/reliability. HP, fails to print due to auto sleep every 5 minutes. Epson, this. I expect more from All-In-Ones labeled as Business class.

Works great! Ink use has been VERY reasonable, besides the fact that it is so cheap on the aftermarket side. This little unit is AWESOME! It is easy to set up and it works great. Works quickly and does a great job and it is cheap. What else could you ask for? UPDATE: Epson has you do firmware updates. DO NOT DO THEM! I have been using aftermarket ink cartridges. After the firmware update, it wont recognize them. UNFAIR! Because of this DO NOT BUY THIS!

Ive officially had it for a year now with continuous paper jam issues... for the most part I just deal with it. I fix the jam, re-print and continue about my work. It constantly grabs multiple sheets at a time and prints my documents across 3,5,8 sheets of paper when the document is just a single page. Constantly have to restart it. Whatever, like I said, all of this I just suck up and deal with... its not enough for me to get on my computer and go back to find my original purchase and write a bad review, BUT today Ive officially reached my boiling point with this machine. The screen is currently locked on a "ERROR: ADF Paper Jam" screen. Its asking me to remove the jam within the automatic document feeder on the top. THERE IS NO JAM. Ive spent about an hour trying to troubleshoot and google a solution. This thing is GARBAGE. DO NOT BUY IT!!!! Im going to go Office Space on it in my backyard now. Thanks for reading.

Pros: Prints fast, two sided printing is good. Print quality for business docs is fine. Cons: 1. Once its out of paper, does not recognize that paper has been added. Does not print right away. 2. Operation is a little unituitive ***************************************************************************** Updated after about 6 months of use: BEWARE: The printer is designed to increase Epsons profits at the consumers expense. Taking a cue from Gillette, they have taken every trick in the book to make sure that you keep buying printer cartridges frequently. --A big **disadvantage** is that even if one of the color cartridges is out, it wont allow me to print black and white printouts. Although there is supposed to be a temporary work around, it didnt work in my case. I spent quite a bit of time with customer support but they could not diagnose the issue. --Another big disadvantage is that you cannot make black and white printing the default. So you end up making color prints even when you intended to print black and white. This happens for a couple of reasons. When you print from a browser (we use Chrome) and choose black and white printing from the browser print window, the printer does not recognize it and prints in color. Second, when you have kids printing homework, they sometime forget and print in color when B&W would do. Having an option to default at printer level to B&W (and make color a conscious choice) would be very useful but this option does not exist. Checked about this with customer service and they said this is not possible. Epson - you need to childproof the printer!!

There was one casualty in my place to Hurricane Irma -- my Dell color laser printer developed an "environmental issue" and stopped working. So this was a replacement -- I decided to try an inkjet, so far, Ive been happy with unit. Easy to set up (Im a user, not a technician). Still a few things to check with the manual for "details". But the machine has got me back to where I was before Floridas heat & humidity (thanks to no AC for 5 1/2 days) crippled my ability to do the work I do.

The paper handling on this printer has been poor. 20# HP paper that worked perfectly with my last printer, fed multiple pages at once and jammed regularly. The Auto-Document-Feeder also grabbed multiple pages and I had to carefully review multi-page scans for missing pages. Ive stepped up to 24# I think, and things have settled down a lot. Still, the time I put in a stack of envelopes, it fed 5 at once. Its the worst paper handling Ive ever experienced from a brand new printer. It is fast and I like the output. I so wish it wasnt sub-par in other important ways.

I have had this printer for 5 months and I still have not been able to configure the scanner. I have a mountain of paperwork I need to scan to my computer and I cant for the life of me figure out the proper configuration. Sad considering I am highly computer literate and have never had this problem in my life with any other printer...so FRUSTRATING. I would have never purchased this if I knew this was going to be such a headache. Because this was the main reason I bought this printer, I really have nothing else to say, except dont buy this hunk of junk if you you dont have a personal networker in your home to configure it...
