Im sold on "brother" brand laser printers. My old on finally produced a bad roller and was not cost effective to replace. So we got this one. With our old brother laser it came with short cartridges of toner as the were the original ones that came with the printer and after 3 years and probably 5000+ pages printed they finally gave out. So I bought full cartridges that I bet would last almost 10 years they are amazing! This machine set up easier. Once hooked to the wifi I am able to move it from room to room and just plug it back in and it hooks back up on its own. The old brother would drop the wifi signal and have to be logged back on maybe once every couple months. This one seems to be much more advanced in that area. The ease of use is great with this. Copying or scanning is a breeze. And paper jams? Brothers just dont do it. They are problem free printers. Its nice not having to worry if your ink is running low or can it print out these 40 pages without jamming. There are lots of things to worry about but )once you buy a Brother....) "Printing isnt one of them!"

The printer is quiet and if copying directly from printer it is easy to use. I regret not checking into it further before purchasing it. There is no "mirror image" printing either directly from the printer nor in the app. Customer support said the driver for this machine is not capable of mirror image printing using any interface. That doesnt seem like a difficult task to make the driver complete, but then I am not a developer. The printer prints nice pages and unlike my previous two Epson printers, does not leak any ink or leave splots on the pages. Customer support was helpful when I called and looked into the mirror image.

I made the mistake of purchasing this printer with the hopes of printing photos for a work project. I had a laser printer 15 years ago that printed better than this. So I hard time accepting that this was indeed the best I was going to get. I spent an hour doing the online troubleshooting guide. Then talked with online support for an hour. It was then escalated to the next level and was told they would call me the following day by 2:00. Didnt happen. Contacted online customer support again asking for a call back. They said it would happen by 5:00. Didnt happen. (It was in my file that they did indeed call me but I didnt answer. Not possible as there was no call on my call log.) Contacted online support again the next morning. They said someone would call by 11:00. Didnt happen. Contacted online customer support and was given a phone number so I could call them. First call I was on hold for over 30 minutes. Gave up. Called again and actually talked to someone for an hour. Didnt fix anything. He escalated to the hardware division and said I would get a call the following day before 11:00. YES, it actually happened. At that point I was told that the printout I scanned (first photo) was an acceptable print of the actual photo (second photo). Well, needless to say, the printer is being returned. So all in all, I spend 6 HOURS trying to "fix" a printer that was never going to print a decent photo.

First off, the printer is heavy. This is a well- built piece of equipment. The unpacking directions were straight forward and setup was easy. I took the recommendation of another reviewer and downloaded the software from Brothers website which took less time and effort than using the cd. One thing I didnt know is that there was no need to print a test page to line up print heads, etc. I then printed about 40 pages of documents. The black print is clear as day and the color is accurate. This printer is a replacement for an ecotank printer that had print heads dry out in just a month. Amazingly, this printer is less than $50 more than that inkjet!

Ok so I used many different brands but the 1 brand that always has calibration issues is Brother brand. I dont know what they are doing, but I can connect my mac with HP, Canon, Xerox, etc. and all are able to replicate what I see with some modification relatively well. With Brother, its like there is no way I can get it to accurately print anything with color or pages with large images. Shame.

This printer literally took about 5 minutes to set up for both the USB and WiFi connection. Dont expect it to print your vacation photos with the same sharpness and saturation as an inkjet printer; nor will it scan color photos with the same resolution and clarity as a dedicated scanner; but it does both jobs more than adequately for home or small office use. Laser cartridges, while a bit more expensive than inkjet tanks dont clog or dry up from lack of use, dont require testing and cleaning procedures. They just do their job quickly and efficiently. I particularly like the auto duplexing, a feature almost never found on a printer in this price range. All in all, this is a great little printer.

Be prepared to spend a bunch of cash on toner almost immediately after you buy this printer. It does everything that it is supposed to do, but the black toner, with little warning, ran out after 460 pages! Stopped in the middle of an important bulletin that we were printing. I had to resort to an older inkjet to finish the job. When it runs out after three weeks, the cost for the toner set will be $355, Amazon price...

This printer replaces our very old workhorse with a similar newer, lighter, wifi, color, laser in a small business. We didnt need the fax but needed the scanner & copier. It installed easily, is smaller and lighter, works fine. Theres no ethernet port, but we connected via USB and shared it on the network. Colors are crisp and clear, various paper weights no problem. Default settings work with QB Desktop 2018. Nice, reasonably priced solution.

I just bought this printer and set it up a couple of hours ago. I didnt have good experience with ink jet printers due to the ink going dry and make the printer not working (I am not heavy printer user) so after doing lots of research and based on others review I decided to buy this Brother printer. The setup was very easy and the instructions that came with it were very clear and easy to follow. I downloaded and installed the latest FW and SW from the Brother website with no issues. The wi-fi connection works very well and the printer stays connected even after it has gone into deep sleep (One of the reviews I read said that it had some issues with wifi). I will update this review in a few months after I have used this printer for a while.

Copies great Prints great too. Use glossy paper for photos otherwise they will be a tad dull. Installed it for Linux using rpm installation files from Brother. Scanning is a bit slow but acceptable for a single document scanner. Connection using both USB (needs a cable: A-male to B-male. Specs say 6 ft max) for my Linux machine and WiFi simultaneously with my phone.
