I got a refurbished unit. It was like new out of the box. It may have been new for all I know. I paid $100 bucks for a $200+ display. Great Deal! This was a considerable upgrade for me from a 10 year old 4/5 ratio low res lcd monitor. It has great color, is the perfect size and I love that it is easily fully adjustable for height, tilt and swivel. The only knock against this monitor is the buttons, and the settings menus. The buttons are unreadable as the labeling is only an embossing on the black plastic. The settings menu is not intuitive at all for navigating or selecting. Big fail on this. I only took away 1 star for this because I dont mess with the settings much, and no one really should after setup. But once you get it set, the display is beautiful.

Plugged in the monitor and downloaded software from Viewsonic, installed, and the monitor took over my audio system. Had to uninstall the software and do a system restore to get my sounds back. This was my experience, yours may be a lot different. I have always liked Viewsonic Monitors and am disappointed this one didnt work out for me.

I had a ViewSonic Monitor that lasted for many years - the screen was no longer as crisp as I prefer so decided to get another ViewSonic and was not disappointed. It was easy to set up, the color and clarity is great. Very pleased.

The stand is solid, the picture is great. overall a very well built monitor. Great colors, purchased six of these for the office. Has many options for port connections.

These monitors are bright and clear. MVA is like an IPS monitor, it helps to give the monitor better viewing angles. MVA is supposed to have better black levels but I havent really noticied.

22" screen, adjustable height (a must have in my situation), and the Viewsonic brand made this a no-brainer. Works perfectly for a workstation monitor...

I have this monitor a low rating mainly because of the bad (non-existent?) customer support. I bought this monitor because it has built-in stereo speakers and because its position can be adjusted in many ways making a good choice, ergonomically. Now that I have it, I am very satisfied in all ways EXCEPT one, but this one way is very important. I cannot make any adjustments to the monitor using the front panel buttons. This is very frustrating because the volume setting is too low to hear very well so the speakers are of little use to me. I also cannot adjust the brightness or anything else. Obviously, I should be able to use the front panel control buttons to make these adjustments, but they dont work in any intuitive way to enable me to move through the menu. Now youd think that there would be a way to learn how to work these buttons, but you would be wrong. Why? (1) I cant view the CD which contains the User Guide and the Installation software because I have a Macbook Pro which doesnt have a CD port. (2) The paper instructions included in the box with the monitor does not explain how to navigate the menu with the buttons. (3) The support section of the ViewSonic web site doesnt have Viewsonic VG2239SMH monitor instructions which cover how to navigate through the front panel buttons. (4) The customer service agents do not answer their phone. I was on hold for over 2 hours yesterday, but was never able to reach a live person. Same thing for a half hour wait the day before. The recording gave me the option of leaving a written message on their site, which I did 2 or 3 days ago, but no one has ever responded. Argh! I will probably return this monitor and go with a different company with better customer service. UPDATE: A few hours after I posted this review, I received an email from Viewsonic with a set of directions on how to adjust the sound volume, brightness, etc. The speaker quality is not great but is passable. I guess Ill keep this monitor and up the stars from 2 to 3.

This monitor is wonderful. It was easy to start using right away. It has a nice full width bezel with a nice flat finish. The screen also has a nice non-reflective flat finish. The image quality is fantastic. I give this monitor an A+.
