I wanted a cheap DVI/VGA monitor with speakers to connect to a laptop docking station. I didnt want to listen to music or watch movies - just an occasional how-to video with someone speaking and similar stuff where sound quality isnt important. I didnt want a pair of external speakers taking up desk space. For image quality, I think this $75 monitor is very good for the price. For sound quality, its OK for me but would not be for watching movies or listening to music - but I have other devices for those things. My previous version of this monitor lasted from 2006 thru 2018 and still sort of works. So I decided to give ViewSonic another try. Its only been a few days but all is well. I downloaded drivers for Win7 32 bit from the ViewSonic web site and they installed without problem. So for my purpose (speadsheet, occasional Gimp photo editing, etc) this monitor works well. The drawback: its stand holds the monitor in a low position and is not adjustable - mine is currently on a 3" thick book. It also slants forward a little - I have it propped up with a little wedge. I think an adjustable stand monitor would be a little better but I dont use the attached computer much and traded convenience for price. There is a VESA mount capability so it could go on an adjustible VESA stand if I wanted to invest a few more dollars.

Have had this monitor 2 months. No dead pixels on arrival. The stand seems a little flimsy, but this LCD is so light that the stand seems adequate to keep it from falling over. Has some tilt up/down adjustment that would work for normal desk purposes, it is not as adjustable as some of the more expensive LCDs. Has 100mmx100mm VESA mounts as well as a desktop stand. The picture quality is excellent and the brightness is excellent compared to other brands of LCDs I have used in this price point. This LCD is sitting by a bright window, and it is bright enough that it is not washed out and can be viewed easily. The placement and labels on the buttons to control on/off, contrast, etc cant be viewed easily, they blend right in to the black plastic frame. I dont use the buttons that often, but I too as another reviewer listed have to get a flashlight to shine on the frame or just randomly feel around for the buttons on the front of the frame until I hit the correct one to adjust any settings. Knocked off 1 star for that, have never had that problem with other Viewsonic monitors. Of course, the buttons being "hidden" could be a positive if you dont want your kid, cats, etc pushing buttons and messing your monitor settings up! Has VGA and DVI connections. Has a 3 yr warranty, and I did previously have a Viewsonic 40" LCD go dead under warranty; and after the non-USA Viewsonic tech support people finally got to the email support ticket I submitted, they shipped a working LCD back to me that is still working 18 months after the replacement. The process took about 2 weeks, but at least they did honor the warranty and it wasnt too painful to get them to cover the warranty, I provided some details, tried some troubleshooting they suggested, provided a PDF of my purchase receipt, packaged the lcd very well and shipped it. I dont recall if they picked up the shipping or not, but I think they provided me a return shipping label at their expense. The speakers are adequate for general music or business purposes and put out some decent volume of sound. I have purchased probably 50 Viewsonics over the last 10 years, and only sent 1 in for warranty repair, and have always been happy with the quality of the picture on the ViewSonics. And they seem to last, so those are the two most important factors for me, and Viewsonic delivers!
