There are 1000+ reviews, Q&As. I bet the chance you read this review is extremely low unless you came back and search for similar issues. I have spent much time reading comments, confirming the defects are not something i can simply get rid of, issuing replacements and contacting customer services. I will keep this review short. I do not even give a review more of the time. But i think i should, this time. A black spot is observed behind the LED. I thought is a dead pixel but it is more like a black shadow behind the texts. It could be a dust, a bug or something, it shadows behind the text. I tried to wipe it off with my screen cloth; but i cannot -- its inside the screen. So its Amazon, you get defective product, you ask for a replacement. To be honest, a refund would be a wiser option, but i did not expect the replacement to be defective again, plus the price of this monitor actually increased from when i purchased it. But surprise me, the replacement is again defective! Horizontal faint/grey stripes or lines, obvious under white and grey are going across the monitor. Now Amazon tells you that you cannot ask for another replacement, and defectives are fault of the manufacturers. Well done. Chance for me is 2 out of 2 defective, 100% defective rate!

I had high hopes for this monitor when I first powered it on. Picture quality was crisp, vibrant, and left a very good first impression of 4K quality for this customer. I had little to no complaints about the visuals or LED lighting of the 27-inch version of this monitor. Unfortunately, this device is crippled by its underlying hardware/firmware. During normal PC operation, the monitor will just completely shut off with the power button becoming unresponsive. Sometimes it works fine for 1hr+, other times it wouldnt last a minute. At first I thought the power cable could be loose or have a short, so I readjusted my setup and tried new cables to no avail. This happened within days upon the monitor arriving. From other critical reviews, this does not appear to be an isolated issue; multiple people have reported the exact same behavior I observed. From what Ive found, this seems to be an issue with how the power-saving mode works. Save yourself the headaches and look for a different monitor. At this price, a monitor had better work without quirks for quite a while.

I purchased my first one of these monitors in April 2017 and it was amazing. I wanted to expand my setup to a dual display and ordered a second one. The new monitor the color match was way off, even after doing a factory reset on both the new and the old. I got it close enough with manual settings but you can not use the presets or it wont match. Also the new one had these faint horizontal gray lines going through portions of the display, at first I tried to ignore it but had to exchange it. If you google the monitor and gray lines it is a KNOWN ISSUE by Dell. If you get a bad monitor and purchased from Amazon your only options are to do a warranty from Dell and they give you a refurbished monitor (since you didnt buy direct from dell) or you can exchange through Amazon. I hated exchanging through Amazon since its not their fault but I did not want a refurb monitor for something I bought brand new and had for 2 days. I got the new monitor today, manufactured same date November 2017, likely same batch. Well, this one also has the gray line issue BUT its not as bad. Seems to come and go. I dont feel like being flagged by Amazon for picky/excessive returns and I dont want a refurb so I am going to live with it for now. Annoying for the price of the monitor I expected much better based on the first one. Will not be buying another Dell monitor in the future. I gave 3 stars because the first one from April 2017 is amazing. Just watch the mfg date and google for the issue. Dell knows all about it...

I was looking for a 27-inch 4K monitor to use with a MacBook dock. I first ordered Samsung U28E590D because it was slightly larger (i.e 28 inches) and less expensive (under $400). But after ordering that monitor, I quickly realized that it was not IPS and the display quality was significantly lower even though it was a 4K monitor. I returned it and ordered this Dell monitor and I could not be happier. This is a great monitor to be used with a high resolution computer (laptop or desktop). I am using it with two MacBooks, a 15-inch Retina and 13-inch MacBook Pro. I am using a AmazonBasics Mini DisplayPort to connect the MacBook using this monitor’s DisplayPort. I get the maximum resolution supported by the monitor (3840 x 2160 pixels). At its maximum resolution the text becomes very small so I have it scale down to the display to 1080 to make it more readable. At this setting the text is so incredibly crisp and sharp that it rival that of MacBook’s retina display. I should also point out that my primary purpose for getting this monitor was coding/programming. My work involves looking at multiple text-based files and working at my MacBook terminal. This monitor is perfect for that purpose. I have not tested it with any games so I cannot comment on refresh rate when with games, etc. I love this monitor and I highly recommend it.

The monitor supports the 4k streamed by my 2018 Macbook Pro. It also works with my PS4 Pro. I originally had trouble getting the full 4k 60hz from my PS4, but Jason Luos review saved me. Im quoting it to provide greater visibility and hopefully help out more people facing this issue. "According to Dells official website, P2415Q and P2715Q monitors purchased after Feb 2016 have HDMI 2.0 with 4K@60fps support! You just need to enable it manually since its not enabled by default from the factory. 1. Unplug all video cables from the display. (Leave only the power connected to the display.) 2. Power on the display. 3. Select the HDMI (MHL) input option. (A floating dialogue box will appear.) 4. Press and hold the button associated with the Green check mark for 6 to 8 seconds (the 3rd button from the top). [make sure the input selections appear first then hold for 6 to 8 seconds] 5. A dialogue box appear that states HDMI 1.4 Enable/Disable 6. Select the option to Disable HDMI 1.4 support and press the button next to the green check mark to confirm the selection. 7. Re-connect the video cables to the display"

Pros: The monitor is beautiful. Simply put, this thing is 27" of 4K happiness. First things first: Ive owned a variety of monitors over the years. NEC, Dell, Samsung, LG, and so on. Ive always been very hard on my monitors. They get use at least 8 hours a day and Im particularly picky about color reproduction. In my experience, the Dell Ultrasharp monitors have always been very high quality. This will be my third, and Im very glad it is. The basics: 27", a bunch of input/output options, an adjustable stand, and a slab of viewable area. Design: The casing is black and silver and very understated, which I like. Dell has foregone the touch buttons on the face for physical buttons (which I wholeheartedly agree with). The buttons are typical monitor buttons, nothing special. The stand allows you to lift the monitor fairly high and rotate it fully without any interference. The stand is pretty fantastic, despite my thought when I first got it that it wouldnt sufficiently hold the monitor. I can assure you, it does. The stand also has a cutout for wires to loop through and keep it nice and tidy. The peripheral stuff works really well. One USB in from the computer gives you 4 outputs. One is on the vertical back face of the monitor and the other three are tucked under the back of the monitor on a cutout. I got the sound bar that attaches to this computer (511) and I highly recommend it, so figure on that taking one of the slots from you. Transfer rate is good but not stellar, as is to be expected from any hub. It has a sound-out slot that works well, nothing special about it. Video connections: The important bit. Has a DisplayPort and HDMI in. When youre trying to get full 4K at 60Hz, please use the DisplayPort. I toyed with this stuff for hours. It was frustrating. You will see this in the "Cons" section. The Panel itself: The panel is very, very nice. Color reproduction is good. The profile that it comes with from the factory was okay, but left some room to be desired. A little bit of time with an i1 made it much better, though it would barely be noticeable to the trained eye. The IPS panel is as perfect as you can expect. Even backlight, perfect viewing angles, and generally a very nice viewing experience. Price: Are you kidding me? 4K at this price with this much quality? Im seriously considering purchasing a second one. Cons: The controls: You want 4K to display at 60Hz? Dont listen to anything anyone tells you online. I was seriously hamstrung for hours trying to get this thing to display 4K off of my 2014 MBPr 15". I tried every combination of connections, connected a Thunderbolt to each port, tried HDMI, everything. Turns out that the setting that controls the 4K through DisplayPort that the manual told me to turn on? Yeah that was wrong. As soon as I turned off MST, the whole thing worked perfectly. Otherwise, the menus are fairly easy to navigate. Everything is bright on the screen, so you will be able to see it. I have a minor gripe about the way the buttons function, but once you get the hang of it, it really isnt a big deal at all. Customer Service: Dell customer service is .... less than desirable. I purchased this thing through their business division and that was ok. They wouldnt let me apply discounts that I should have been able to, but compensated for it in other ways. However, once I ran into the whole 30Hz/60Hz snafoo, then I really started to hate Dell. The department I needed to talk to was closed on a Monday ALL DAY, and not a holiday either. Then when I did talk to someone the next day, it took a long wait and difficulty understanding the tech (VERY thick accent) before I stumbled over the answer and figured it out on my own. Other Thoughts: If youre thinking about this monitor and you have the cash, stop looking at other ones. Buy this. You and your eyes will be incredibly happy that you do.

I am running this on my older i7-970/X58 platform computer with newer GTX 970 video card. I run this along side my ASUS PB278Q with NO issues. 60Hz was plug and play with no tinkering (Display port). No dead pixels, no back light bleeding or weird color shifts on the panel. I have also calibrated this with my Spyder 4 Elite. Both my ASUS PB278Q and new Dell P2715Q match PERFECTLY now :) Couldnt be happier! About 2 years ago when I got my first 27 inch 1440p monitor, I went for the Dell U2713HM. I had to RMA THREE Dell U2713HM before going with the ASUS PB278Q. Happy with my ASUS PB278Q! I was a little scared about getting another Dell, but this P2715Q was a winner the first time around! I run both monitors at 125% text scaling on Windows 8.1. UPDATE: as of 6/24/15, I am still having a very good experience with this monitor!

NOTE - This is a TWO YEAR LATER REVIEW of this monitor. Let me get out of the way quickly what I DONT like - hence why I dock a star. Its not much: - I bought this before the March 2016 re-release. So HDMI maxes out at 30hz and that sucks. Only one DisplayPort at 60hz means I have to run my second workstation at a lower res to get the good refresh rate. - It takes a while to turn on, even when power save is on. - The mini display port was pointless because it ALSO maxes out at 30hz. They should have done two standard DP ports on this thing full stop. What I like about it: - Its GORGEOUS. 2 years into using it, its great for Lightroom and CAD or other graphically intensive apps. - Great refresh rate for gaming. Wolfenstein 2 looks amazing on it and RTS games like StarCraft 2 also look great. - The USB 3.0 hub is super handy. Plug your webcam into the back of the monitor or your SD card reader and its very convenient. I would absolutely buy this monitor again

This thing is without a doubt one of the best purchases Ive ever made in my life, with zero regrets. What I was looking for: - 4k monitor to complement my aging 24 Inch samsung 1920x1200 TN LCD display - Mac Retina scaling support - 60Hz refresh rate for gaming - IPS color accuracy/vibrancy and wide angle viewing - decent price - Good build quality It delivered on every front with only a few minor annoyances: - Its absolutely beautiful. Basically like having my retina macbook pro 15, except as a 24 inch screen. I drool every time I open a chrome browser or even my terminal app. Ive always dreaded going back from my retina macbook to my desktop, but now I can enjoy the same resolution, except on a giant screen. - Works perfectly with OS X(Tested on Yosemite). Upon boot up, runs in scaled mode, so windows and objects appear at the size of 1920x1080 resolution, except everything is beautifully rendered at retina resolution. I purposely chose this P2415Q model rather than the 27 inch model because I wanted the pixel perfect match with my 24 inch 1920x1200 monitor. If I had gotten the 27 inch model, it would have had to run at 2550x1400 resolution to match the scaling of my current 24 inch monitor, and I really like having the perfect scaling of 3840x2160 -> 1920x1080, so exactly 4 pixels match to each 1 pixel of the smaller resolution, resulting in zero loss of sharpness - Verified 60Hz using the included display port cable plugged into my GTX 770 (running a hackintosh) - Runs DotA 2 beautifully at 4k resolution with 60+FPS with my GTX 770 - Really solid build quality. The bezel is plastic, but definitely an improvement over older dell models. The stand is a mix of apple-like aluminum and aluminum painted plastic. Its not apple quality, but it looks quite like it. Considering you dont touch and handle the stand all day, I think it looks quite good. - $443 for a 4k IPS display is an absolute steal, prices have dropped drastically over the past few months - Only nitpick is that theres an anti-gloss coating applied to the screen, which gives off a weird sheen when viewed off center. This sheen can make colors look a little greyish when the screen is viewed from above or the sides, and a picture professional would probably find this unacceptable. I barely notice it though. I would have preferred the semi-gloss coating that Apple uses, which doesnt grey out the colors. Would highly recommend.

Im a photographer and Im using this as a second display for my iMac Retina 5K (running the new P2715Q it in portrait orientation for Lightroom/Photoshop work). The display color was a little warm straight out of the box, but now its perfect after calibrating it with my Spyder4. I was very concerned about the matte anti-glare coating (some anti-glare screens are gritty/sparkly) but Im very happy to report that this display does not exhibit that trait. I had no problem hooking up the display to my iMac, I used the included mini-DisplayPort (Thunderbolt port compatible) to DisplayPort cable and the iMac 5K recognized it immediately and started using it without any issues. One nice feature is you can configure the menus to display in portrait mode if you run the display in that orientation. So far Im loving this display. I will post updates if I encounter any issues.
