Samsung U32R590 Curved 4K UHD Monitor (LU32R590CWNXZA)

Although the specs wont wow a gamer into high refresh rates, this is a great monitor for those of us who want quality and high resolution but dont need the refresh rates of the more aggressive gaming monitors. The contrast ratio is fantastic and the glare is almost non existent thanks to both the matte screen and the curvature. I can finally open the blinds on the picture window behind my desk. I got 2 and run them side by side and the curvature is perfect. There is a nice stand that allows you to snake the cables within it and hide them in back for a very clean look. The blacks are super inky and they definitely look sexy sitting on a desk. If anybody is wondering the monitors sit roughly 3 1/2" off the desk surface on the stand and there are no vesa mount holes.

The image is great of course for color reproduction and glare reduction. Where it falls flat is in two areas. First is that the curve is not edge to edge. The curvature of the screen stops 6 inches from the sides, which means that if your eyes are not in the direct center of the screen the image appears to bend at the edges since the screen is only curved in the center 2/3 of the screen. Second is that it lacks modern ports (USB-c with power delivery) for a monitor released in 2019. Finally, it lacks a native VESA mount point, which limits it usability.

Before buying the Samsung Samsung u32r59c I called Samsung customer service to ask a couple questions, one being as to the screen glossy or anti-glare I told him I preferred glossy he said he believed it was glossy, its not. I can get a pretty good picture but not as vibrant or real depth like on my Dell 24 inch with glossy screen. The problem why I really hate this monitor is the none adjustable stand, it is the most inconvenient I have ever owned no height adjustment at all. The least Samsung could do is make Vesa adaptor for it, this stand is total nonsense. I dont like returning items but this seams like a waste of $500.00. Im going to try and makeshift an adaptor for the vesa arm so we can have some height adjustment. I wouldnt recommend this Samson because of the basic features especially the stand. Really hate this monitor.

Samsung designed a power cord that DOESNT EVEN STAY IN THE JACK, which cost me valuable time and energy as I struggled (unsuccessfully) to use TAPE (are you kidding me??) to keep the cord tip in the jack, on TWO different monitors (I ordered a brand new replacement--same problem). This happens because the tip was designed with a very loose fit, and furthermore, it enters the jack UPSIDE-DOWN, so gravity makes it inevitably slip/fall out, causing the screen to flicker periodically, or just turn off completely). WHAT AN ENGINEERING EMBARRASSMENT, for an otherwise BEAUTIFUL curved 4K monitor, from a generally AWESOME display manufacturer. Its so disappointing to see such a beautiful monitor go to waste because of a simple "back-end" design flaw. Oh, and to second a review I read on Samsungs website, HOW CAN YOU GUYS NOT PROVIDE VESA mountability? Or even USB ports? Or DisplayPort? What a shabby effort, Samsung.

This was going to be my first ever Samsung product of any kind. I was really excited to hook my brand new MacBook Pro up with the USB C display port connection that is clearly shown in the picture on both Amazon and Samsungs website but I was very disappointed to find the actual product does not have it. It has the full display port. If you go to Samsung website it doesnt even list it as an input source, only HDMI. My guess is they intended to put the USB C style input on in the early renders but then changed there mind and still dont have the actual outcome even listed. And there is a problem with the panel as I attached the picture of. It is hard to take a picture of a display but it is exceptionally annoying.

I use this monitor as my main monitor for editing photos, videos, and playing the occasional video game. I have been very impressed with the color and clarity it produces for each of these tasks. The detail you get when playing the video games on ultra settings is amazing. When editing the photos I am able to clearly see the details that I need to edit and with the color accuracy Im able to ensure that I have my white balance set correctly. I only wish I had come across this monitor sooner. The packaging: The monitor was packaged in a way that was easy to open and pull the monitor out of. Setup: The stand for the monitor was easy to assemble and even provided a channel for the cables to run through so that you can keep your desk clean. Use: Using this monitor for photo and video editing is solid. For its price point you cant beat the size, color, and clarity. If your in the market for a monitor that you can use to edit photos, videos, and you like to play video games, this one wont disappoint.

I paired it up with a EVGA GeForce RTX 2080 ultra gaming, and a i9-9900x. Out of the box it is configured as a computer monitor, so no settings needed. Attached it with the (included) HDMI cable. Windows 10 booted, and ran right with it, no settings or adjustments needed. Prior to the monitor I had configured windows to use winaero, to increase the application windows borders. Im sure with the resolution brought by this monitor the border would have gone invisible (lines too thin). Im nearsighted, and need "monitor glasses" (reading glasses for 1 to 3 feet). I set the monitor back for 1.5 feet, and all angles are in full focus. The only game I play is World of Warcraft. I configured warcraft display properties for maximum everything. Set screen size for full. Adjusted track ball for accelerated movement, so that I could sweep the screen without removing my thumb from the ball. All I can say is WOW ! 60 Hz is perfectly fine for World of Warcraft. Screens are incredible. This monitor is a "keeper".

I have been using Samsungs new U32R590 4K monitor over a month now, and I fell in love with this monitor. Not only its design is great front and back (very clean look with cables hidden), but it also produces gorgeous colors, and large 32 inch 4K screen space is so enjoyable to work with. My primary use of this monitor are photo and video editing (Lightroom and Premiere Pro) and music software (Sibelius and Pro Tools). I came from 27 inch QHD monitor, which can be still considered to be large, high resolution. However, the difference I can feel is huge; especially when I work with multiple programs and web browsing at the same time. In addition, it is a curved display, and is helpful for me to concentrating the work I do. I also play some video games on this monitor with PS4 Pro; I cannot say for any fast paced games like FPS, but God of War and Horizon Zero Dawn play very smoothly on this even though its not particularly designed for gaming. Only downsides for me is available ports; it only has one HDMI and one Displayport. Some may complain that the monitor lacks HDR and FreeSync, but for most people this is best bang for the buck IMHO. (I received this product at a discounted price in exchange for my honest opinion.)

As others have noted in their reviews, there seems to be a quality issue with this monitor. My monitor was cracked when i opened it (see picture). And as at least one other reviewer mentioned, the plastic back of this monitor seems flimsy and cheap (i realize other monitors also have plastic backs, but somehow this monitors backing seems cheap). Its a shame, since this monitor seemed to have all the specs I needed at a great price point. Had to return it, and rather than risk it again, I purchased an LG (interesting how few options exist for a 32" 4K monitor at this price point).
