This monitor arrived brand new but defective. Not only is the picture horrible like others have indicated (you have to sit squarely in front of it to see the content clearly), but it also had no sound. No matter what you do, it wont play sound. To top it off SAMSUNG SUPPORT IS THE WORST. They force you to use email and half the pages on their site is dead. When you do get an answer, you cant reply to it, you have to go and do a new ticket to respond for more help. Just terrible. Never again. Was a Samsung monitor fan, but never again.

If you carouse through the similarly rated reviews as mine, there is a conjunction of (at least recent) issues with the monitors, in which they begin releasing a high pitched whine. This will occur for an indeterminable amount of time, the screen goes black when starting up programs, and then the monitor emits a very high pitch sound, sometimes for seconds, other times for longer. Additionally, this monitor is NOT HDCP 2.2 compliant, meaning you cannot watch any 4k content on it. The color range on it is not particularly great, and when I contacted support regarding the HDCP 2.2 compatibility and high pitched noises, they (speaking moderately bad English) gave me a number of their marketing team (?) to give a call to them, so that they could never return my call, and assumingly (as they never did return that call), attempt to sell me a more expensive monitor.

I set this monitor up and was impressed by the sharp detail. However despite it having settings to compensate, theres just a slight orange color shift from top to bottom. Im being really picky here, most people would probably never even notice. But I do some photo work so I wanted to make sure I had accurate color reproduction so I sent it back and will pick up an IPS panel instead. I like that it has a built-in blue light filter. But now that both Mac and Windows have built in night modes, this may not be important to you.

Win10 1703.something here. Works out of the box with DP 1.2 (default) on an EVGA 1070. Its fine for the prime-day price (no longer available, the monitor, on amzn). You might be as comfortable with a QHD (2560x1440), but UHD takes an even (non-fractional) 200% DPI increase (192 dpi) compared to 150% (144 dpi) I use on a QHD. I often barely notice the difference between a 28-inch QHD and this 28-inch UHD. It is there, of course, but you have to get picky (I see fine). I know I did not like the text at 150 dpi on this UHD; not enough definition. Looks fine at 192 dpi. Color is said to be 8-bit per channel (not including FRC). My QHD is IPS, no banding that I can tell, but my old Samy from 2008, which I still use (check my reviews), does band on close-color gradiations, and you dont want that. Stand is poor. Worst stand of any monitor Ive used. Fortunately, I can fit it so that the stand is a non-problem. If you have the monitor standing alone, it will bug you. Well, if you could buy it. Its going on three years old and you cant anymore, so Ill end this pointless revi

Let me start with the positives: The monitor is bright, colorful, and performs most functions perfectly. Ive never had an issue with displaying things at 4K resolutions and connecting it to the PC was just as easy as you could imagine. However, if you ever need to switch resolutions for a different program, its basically a dice roll as to whether the monitor will correctly identify and adjust to the new setting. Playing a game in 1080p, for example, can frequently load up a totally black screen. As you might expect, this is very frustrating. I had assumed, at first, that this was just unique to one particular game, but it has persisted across multiple applications and a better video card. The solution is to never change your resolution from the native 4k. If thats an acceptable option for you, you will have no issues.

Bought this monitor on Prime Day with great discount. The appearance of the monitor was nice, even though it only had very limited adjustments. I plugged it to a Macbook Pro with Radeon Pro 560 graphic card, and the color was very plain, or Id rather say pale, no matter how hard I tried to adjust the contrast ratio and brightness, or calibrate it with the MacOS color profile calibration. To make it worse, it was making a very disturbing, horrible high-frequency noise similar as those old TVs when it was powered on but not plugged into any computers or when it was switching between input sources. The noise was so loud that I could feel headache when hearing it. Had to return the monitor.

I was using this on my PC as a second monitor, and it was fine for web browsing and low-FPS gaming, but now that I have an Xbox One X and a new good GPU the flaws are showing clearly. The bad: The FreeSync is ONLY on DisplayPort - NOT HDMI. This is not advertised. And even then, it only really works in a VERY narrow FPS range - totally useless, unless your framerates are really steady. The stand has no height adjust, just angle (which is really important for a TN display...) and its CHEAPLY made plastic. Its a TN display, so the colors are fine but not perfect, especially if youre not DIRECTLY in front of it. The good: This screen is gorgeous after some display tinkering. Its cheap. The TN display is perfectly adequate for beautiful slow-paced exploration style 4K Xbox / PS4 gaming, and has a great 1ms response time for fast-paced games - but it is definitely nowhere near the best display on the market (especially now in 2019). The menu up-down-left-right-click is a good system for a back-side button setup. Headphone output works with DP or HDMI inputs, so you could use this with a Blu-Ray or Roku or Cable Box or whatever.

I have one of these monitors now (actually had it for a couple of years) and it works great. Colors are vivid, screen is bright. Works great with my Msft Surface Pro 5 and the Surface dock. I decided to add a 2nd large display and mount it on swivel arms so I could position them better at my desk and give me more room on my desk as well. The 2nd monitor (the new one) had really washed out colors...blacks were more gray than black. Whites were bluish tint. Tried adjusting colors, contrast, changed cables from HDMI to DP, nothing worked. My 1st monitor is still going strong and continues to look great but the new one just didnt look as good. I dont know if there was just something wrong with that monitor or if different production batches have different operating characteristics. I returned it and now looking for a different one. So, in short, 1 works great (5 stars), 1 doesnt so I split the difference. As a side note, I will say that I dont like the VESA mounting location above the ports. When mounting to the swivel arm, I had to flip the monitor upside down in order to get it to position properly and use the Windows Display properties to orient the screen image. The VESA mounts should be below the ports, not above them.

Ive been trying to find a replacement for my ancient 27" Apple LED display. This isnt it. Pros: -Lightweight -Cheap Cons: -Colors and image are terrible. Even after working through different calibrations and gamma modes, I can feel this straining my eyes after less than an hour. -Viewing angles are extremely bad. This is due to the TN monitor. Find something that uses IPS. -VESA mount location is on top of the screen. This forced me to buy a taller VESA arm, as my Ergotron MX wouldnt even let the bottom of this screen clear my desk -Cheap, plastic frame and stand offer no height adjustment and creaky tilt. Ill be sending this back

Its a great monitor and everything other than the fact its makes a high pitch noise that gets really annoying after only having it for two weeks. Only option is to return, no exchange available since it wasnt from amazon.Tried going through Samsung wants to attempt to repair which takes 7-14 days to their repair facility. I also tried to fix with brightness, changing refresh rate, seeing if any cables are are causing feedback. It still does it without any cables plugged in other than power, with connecting to different power outlets.
