This monitor has a LOT of real estate. I had a little trouble getting it to recognize the Apple Mac Pro 2013 thru the thunderbolt cable but was able to resolve this by hooking up via HDMI, set up thunderbolt, then disconnect HDMI. Colors are very good but the contrast is not too good even after fidelling with it for a while. Brightness is dramatic and I had to turn it WAY DOWN to get decent looking screens. All in all I would definately use this on any high end computer with a graphics system capable of driving it. Oh and the included screen control software is good but it needs to have a custom layout mode included in it. Right now what you see is all you have to choose from....

This was the first UltraWide monitor Ive ever owned, and had always worked with dual standard 4:3 or 16:9 sizes. That setup will be not happening anymore based on this purchase, which I was essentially blown away by. Normally when it comes to consumer electronics, Im a loyal Samsung customer to the core. However when one is cost constrained, the list of available options which meet all the requirements, often does not include any Samsung products. But I knew their fellow South Koreans over at LG were not ones to half measure any efforts or designs, so I ordered. The box came about 5 days after order through UPS. IMPORTANT NOTE: For those of you who work during normal delivery times, be aware that this shipped to me with no signature required. Normally not a big deal, but if you look at the photo I attached of the box it came in, youll see that whats in the box is very clearly indicated. I asked the UPS driver even he delivered it if had I not been home, would be have just left out. He said Yes like I had asked an of question. Moving on... Unboxing was effortless, as was assembling the stand and attachment hardware. The picture quality is unbelievably crisp as and fast exceeded my expectations (again, take that with a grain of salt, is never used one previous to this). LG includes an app and drivers on a CD-ROM youll want to install after getting it initially hooked up. The app, called OnScreen Control (see picture) enables you to configure the screen layout in a number of ways, splitting it into various smaller virtual screens to fit your needs. It was pretty easy to understand, however I havent read the manual to see what Im missing with regards to advanced settings. The one very small critique I did have was the LG folks expected to much of me! Im really not very savvy with all things computers or their peripherals, and had no idea which of the cables I needed, it the monitor would act as a single unit, or did my video card see it as two monitors, which offered the best picture and greatest performance? Probably stupid questions for many people, and I eventually used my Google-Fu skills to figure it out (one cable needed, between HDMI and DisplayPort, all things being equal go with DisplayPort). Lastly, and Ill leave off on a positive note, another feature which I found was better than my past experiences with any monitors, was the user interface and input mechanism for manually changing the displays configuration and settings. Instead of all buttons and the settings screens looking like an afterthought, there is a small flush 4-direction joystick under the LG logo badge which is extremely intuative to use.

In setting up my new home office, I sought monitors for my new HP Spectre x360 laptop. Ive been using dual monitors for many years and started looking at the same, until discovering the Ultrawide monitors like this. This monitor provides the display width of a dual monitor setup without the bezels in the middle or the setup hassles of two displays. My laptop only has two USB-C Thunderbolt 3 and one USB-A 3.1 connections. I was hoping to reduce my connections to one single USB-C Thunderbolt connection between laptop and monitor, using the back of the monitor as a "hub" to connect in keyboard and mouse, and provide up to 80W to power the laptop. I first realized that the only way to connect Thunderbolt 2 to 3 is through an adapter - a simple cable wont do it. After buying such an adapter, and it not working, finally called LG. And they explained that power wont come through the Thunderbolt 2 to 3 adapter, and the keyboard/mouse inputs from the back of the monitor wont come through either. So basically I paid extra for the Thunderbolt version that I dont use. Hopefully you wont make the same mistake as I did. But otherwise this monitor is amazing! Connected my laptop through a USB hub to this monitor and setup the display properties for multiple monitors and extended desktop. Ensured that this monitor was setup for its maximum resolution, and was good to go. I can almost fit three full windows across the screen, and keep windows in arrangements to work fluidly and productively.

Gorgeous big monitor. Plug and play with Thunderbolt 2 on my 2014 MacBook Pro Retina. I can keep two documents open and still have room to keep track of my email, or open a browser in another window. I keep all of my files and apps on my 15" MacBook screen. This is a great productivity tool for me. I never knew how nice it would be to have that much high-resolution glass. I would not have been happy with a 1080 display. 4K would have been overkill. This is perfect.

So the monitor is very nice; however, the first one I ordered was missing the threads for the top two mounting screws. I sent it back and the next one had a large group of dead pixels. I sent that one back too. The third one is missing one of the top two mounting screws. The monitor is great, but the quality control is beyond ridiculous. If the first or even second one would have been without defect I would have given this monitor five stars.

My first monitor had terrible backlight bleed in the corners. The replacement has a little bit of backlight bleed but no where near as bad as the first one. Overall I am very happy with this monitor. Watching movies on this screen is incredible. I prefer having a flat screen to a curve because I dont want lines distorted when I am doing graphic design.

So when I purchased this, it was cheaper than the outgoing LG 34" monitor the LG UM67 34UM67 so why in the world would I not?! First off, this review will be heavily biased by the fact I was looking for a thunderbolt monitor for my Late 2013 15" retina Macbook Pro (mine had the dedicated GPU but dont think that matters). I like Macs but they have their issues certainly and sometimes driving external monitors can be...uhm....troublesome. So wanted to stop messing with adapters, odd programs to assist, etc. Just wanted it to be plug and play. Aesthetically I think this is a step in the wrong direction from its predecessor, I actually liked the look of the old central "floating fold" stand better. The new stand is like a very open horseshoe with the central pillar in the middle. The bezel and screen are great however. Speaking of the stand though, functionality wise it would appear better since it has quite a range of height/tilt adjustment. So if that matters to you this monitor has a very good range. This has the standard VESA mounting points pre-drilled on the back (its what the included stand attach to), so should be easy to mount. Backlight bleeding, so far none noticed. I was extremely careful to follow the instructions LG laid out when handling the display. The display is bright, crisp, and sharp. Best of all it was plug and play with thunderbolt to drive it at full resolution (3440x1440 @ 60Hz). I have an anker USB 3.0 hub connected and it allows me to switch between inputs and keep the same keyboard and mouse. One huge upgrade/update over the old model is that you can split screen now with thunderbolt being one of the inputs. So I can have my mac up on one side and a PC (via HDMI or mini display port) I dont mind the small central joystick for navigating items, it would have been nice to have a quick button for split screen or PIP but whatever, those are just nice to haves (for me at least) anyways. If you are a PC user and/or dont care about Thunderbolt usage, there are probably better deals on the market for you. I wont lie, the dell 34" curved, if you like curved monitors, looks great. My only gripe with this, is it appears that there two very minor dings on two corners of the display from the factory. Its not enough for me to return it just a minor annoyance. Obviously this is a 21:9 aspect ration monitor which isnt for everyone and has some limitations and irritations. There are a few chrome browser extensions that help with that if you are watching movies/videos/youtube etc to fill the screen. Overall I think this is by far and away the best 34" monitor for mac users, as my personal taste doesnt favor curved monitors.

Purchased this monitor a week ago for $572 on Amazon. I also got an EVGA 1060 SC graphics card to take advantage of the monitors native 1440 x 3340 resolution & Display Port connection (DP cable included with the LG). This is the flat (not curved) version which I wanted because I use it for business, graphics design & Photoshop. Next to the superb display, the biggest surprises were the stand and audio quality. The stand (internally) is made from very heavy cast metal. Its heaver than the stand that came with my 55" TV. Fully adjustable height & tilt. As for audio, most monitors have tinny weak sound. This LG has very nice sound (be sure to turn up the bass in the menu). It wont replace your living room stereo, but dont splurge on external PC speakers until you try this out. The ultra wide aspect ratio took about a week to get used to, but now Im acclimated and loving it. I spend a lot less time resizing and arranging windows, and Photoshop is a joy to use on this monitor. Word Documents - view 2 full size pages side-by-side with no reduction in text size. MS Excel - 42 columns x 45 rows with no reduction in text or cell size. Hint: On a PC hold the Ctrl key when closing an applications window to insure it will reopen to the size you left it. I set up my common apps to open to an ideal size this way. Im not a gamer so I cant give feedback on games, but video is amazing. Screen brightness came set to 100. Thats a lot of photons hitting your eyes, so I cranked it down to 70. However, the menu also has preset selections that set optimal brightness for various activities: reading, gaming, photo editing, etc. My only nitpick is I wish it came with 3 or 4 USB ports instead of 2. Overall, the LG 34UM88C-P is an excellent monitor.

I use this monitor for everything from color grading to gaming and I love every single little bit about it, the only thing I would improve is the audio, its not the best, but it IS a monitor so you really cant ask for much! The color is vivid and very accurate. The only problem is its color varation in the lower left hand corner, it leans slightly warmer down there than the rest of the screen which I hear is common on all of them. Other than that, this monitor is a MASSIVE bang for the buck considering its incredible accuracy and performance. I just wish it had GSync instead of FreeSync :) Also, I am glad I got the flat and not the curved version, At this small size, curved would have just been annoying.

The monitor is verstale with a nice image and decent on screen controls. The software is another matter. It requires UAC control in Windows which pops up anytime you need to change the screen sharing arrangement between multiple devices which is why I bought it. If you are in a business environment with normal security , I would not recommend it. For home gaming might be quite nice. If they could make the display drivers like other windows drivers so you can just adjust from a panel OR If they update the on screen controls to make use of more than just splitting the screen in half, it would be dynamite and then worth 5 stars. The OSD should allow to pick the window configuration and then allow for PIP and all the available windows to be dimensioned (resolution) individually .
