My first monitor had terrible backlight bleed in the corners. The replacement has a little bit of backlight bleed but no where near as bad as the first one. Overall I am very happy with this monitor. Watching movies on this screen is incredible. I prefer having a flat screen to a curve because I dont want lines distorted when I am doing graphic design.

So when I purchased this, it was cheaper than the outgoing LG 34" monitor the LG UM67 34UM67 so why in the world would I not?! First off, this review will be heavily biased by the fact I was looking for a thunderbolt monitor for my Late 2013 15" retina Macbook Pro (mine had the dedicated GPU but dont think that matters). I like Macs but they have their issues certainly and sometimes driving external monitors can be...uhm....troublesome. So wanted to stop messing with adapters, odd programs to assist, etc. Just wanted it to be plug and play. Aesthetically I think this is a step in the wrong direction from its predecessor, I actually liked the look of the old central "floating fold" stand better. The new stand is like a very open horseshoe with the central pillar in the middle. The bezel and screen are great however. Speaking of the stand though, functionality wise it would appear better since it has quite a range of height/tilt adjustment. So if that matters to you this monitor has a very good range. This has the standard VESA mounting points pre-drilled on the back (its what the included stand attach to), so should be easy to mount. Backlight bleeding, so far none noticed. I was extremely careful to follow the instructions LG laid out when handling the display. The display is bright, crisp, and sharp. Best of all it was plug and play with thunderbolt to drive it at full resolution (3440x1440 @ 60Hz). I have an anker USB 3.0 hub connected and it allows me to switch between inputs and keep the same keyboard and mouse. One huge upgrade/update over the old model is that you can split screen now with thunderbolt being one of the inputs. So I can have my mac up on one side and a PC (via HDMI or mini display port) I dont mind the small central joystick for navigating items, it would have been nice to have a quick button for split screen or PIP but whatever, those are just nice to haves (for me at least) anyways. If you are a PC user and/or dont care about Thunderbolt usage, there are probably better deals on the market for you. I wont lie, the dell 34" curved, if you like curved monitors, looks great. My only gripe with this, is it appears that there two very minor dings on two corners of the display from the factory. Its not enough for me to return it just a minor annoyance. Obviously this is a 21:9 aspect ration monitor which isnt for everyone and has some limitations and irritations. There are a few chrome browser extensions that help with that if you are watching movies/videos/youtube etc to fill the screen. Overall I think this is by far and away the best 34" monitor for mac users, as my personal taste doesnt favor curved monitors.

Purchased this monitor a week ago for $572 on Amazon. I also got an EVGA 1060 SC graphics card to take advantage of the monitors native 1440 x 3340 resolution & Display Port connection (DP cable included with the LG). This is the flat (not curved) version which I wanted because I use it for business, graphics design & Photoshop. Next to the superb display, the biggest surprises were the stand and audio quality. The stand (internally) is made from very heavy cast metal. Its heaver than the stand that came with my 55" TV. Fully adjustable height & tilt. As for audio, most monitors have tinny weak sound. This LG has very nice sound (be sure to turn up the bass in the menu). It wont replace your living room stereo, but dont splurge on external PC speakers until you try this out. The ultra wide aspect ratio took about a week to get used to, but now Im acclimated and loving it. I spend a lot less time resizing and arranging windows, and Photoshop is a joy to use on this monitor. Word Documents - view 2 full size pages side-by-side with no reduction in text size. MS Excel - 42 columns x 45 rows with no reduction in text or cell size. Hint: On a PC hold the Ctrl key when closing an applications window to insure it will reopen to the size you left it. I set up my common apps to open to an ideal size this way. Im not a gamer so I cant give feedback on games, but video is amazing. Screen brightness came set to 100. Thats a lot of photons hitting your eyes, so I cranked it down to 70. However, the menu also has preset selections that set optimal brightness for various activities: reading, gaming, photo editing, etc. My only nitpick is I wish it came with 3 or 4 USB ports instead of 2. Overall, the LG 34UM88C-P is an excellent monitor.

I use this monitor for everything from color grading to gaming and I love every single little bit about it, the only thing I would improve is the audio, its not the best, but it IS a monitor so you really cant ask for much! The color is vivid and very accurate. The only problem is its color varation in the lower left hand corner, it leans slightly warmer down there than the rest of the screen which I hear is common on all of them. Other than that, this monitor is a MASSIVE bang for the buck considering its incredible accuracy and performance. I just wish it had GSync instead of FreeSync :) Also, I am glad I got the flat and not the curved version, At this small size, curved would have just been annoying.
