Great monitor! I use it with Windows 10 and set DPI Scale 200%, so all UI controls have the same size as in Full HD (except some old apps), but way more clear. Also zero flickering from PWM (pulse width modulation) when you set brightness below 100%

Fabulous display. I use it for my MacBook Pro. I disagree with the reviewer who says that being 4K instead of 5K is a problem. At any resolution, the image at ordinary reading distance is sharp. Not only is this model $800 cheaper than the 5K version, the fact that it has inputs for USB-C, HDMI, and DisplayPort, while the 5K only has USB-C, makes it much more flexible. Design of the stand is very elegant too.

UPDATE: The replacement monitor is so much better! Replacement arrived in one week and seems like an updated panel is used - even the OS adjustment panel displays differently (smaller). The greenish (left side) and reddish (right side) tints are not present on this one. The viewing angles are also better. Im happy now. More like what I expected from LG. Part of my original review is shown below __________________________________ I find it hard to believe this monitor is IPS as the viewing angles are very limited [ . . . ] ! Perhaps those issues are only on my display and I got a lemon? I am hoping that is the case and am returning it for replacement. If the replacement is free of those unacceptable issues, I will update the review. Charging my 2016 MacBook perfectly, playing HDMI content off an Apple TV and cable box.

After months of research, I found it! I originally wanted this monitor so that I could take advantage of my MacBook Pros USB-C capability. The price initially threw me off, but after a ton of research the price started to make sense and Im happy I pulled the trigger. This is the best purchase ive made in a while and looks amazing on my desk. With this monitor, I feel like I have the best of both worlds, a large screen with ample space for productivity, and the ease of portability of a 13 laptop. My favorite feature is the ability to use this monitor in both single, or split-screen modes. Its as simple as lifting the Laptop cover. The only problem I have with this monitor is that when its connected via USB-C, you cant use the volume or brightness control on the mac to adjust the monitor. Ive since purchased some Logitech dedicated speakers that allow me to override this feature. As for the brightness, Ive learned to live with adjusting from the dongle under the monitor. All said and done, I would deffinitally purchase again!

This is really a great monitor. The standard settings for luminosity and contrast it comes with did not make me initially so exited about it, but after a bit of adjustment, I am really loving it. This monitor has really changed my work, reading documents and working at the computer is now much more pleasant and poses much less strain on the eyes. One feature that I love is the USB-C port. I use this monitor with a Lenovo T480S latop. The laptop is connected to the monitor with the USB-C cable and send a 4K image to the monitor, at the same time the laptop gets charged. Additionally I connect a USB keyboard and mouse to the monitor and they are seen by the laptop (their information is sent to the laptop via the USB-C cable). The laptop needs therefore a single connection for charging, display, and mouse + keyboard.

My need was specifically that I use a 27" iMac or 24" PCs at work and I make use of the increase space for video and photo editing as well as significant PDF and word processing use. Pros: USB-C charging for MacBook Pro (and usb-C compatible PC), 4K screen is fantastic, very adequate brightness capacity thin profile. USB-C wire comes with screen as expected. Neutral: Speakers are fine for a monitor, but not audiophile level. They seem to go from mild level volume to louder. I have not trailed the range, as I have instead opted for a blue tooth speaker that I had available. More related to the computer is that with heavy video editing and screen use, my computer will run louder, but the screen is maintained, where as, if used without the screen, the computer seems to be quieter longer. Con: Cost; can find at discounted rates, but it is a significant purchase. Minor Neg: No computer holder To be determined: Have not tried an iPad connection. Have not tried the screen based USB ports. Have not trialed HDMI connection. I would make this purchase again. I have loved the increased size and high resolution. I am more efficient and better able to multitask (word, final cut, pdf reader and safari/chrome/firefox) with the increased screen size. This tends to be in addition to messages and iTunes. My use has been reliable and productive.

The 4K display on the LG 27UK850-W 27" monitor is flawless. Its worth every penny. I upgraded to this monitor primarily because of the USB-C connectivity. I purchased a new Apple 13" MacBook Pro (2018) which has four USB-C ports as its only way to charge and connect peripheral devices. I was skeptical that a single USB-C connection could provide data and power, but I am a true believer now. Amazingly, I only have ONE single USB-C cable connected from the laptop to the monitor - no tangle of laptop charging cables, wall transformers, or data cables. This makes it so much easier to disconnect the laptop and go mobile, and reconnect when you come home. The LG 27UK850-W 27" power block supplies ample power to the monitor, peripherals, and charging capability to the laptop. The monitors two USB 3.0 ports are adequate to support my 4-port USB hub. Strangely, the supplied USB-C cable is a must for connecting your laptop - the genuine Apple USB-C cable wont work. The monitor also sleeps/wakes perfectly and causes no radio frequency interference with the bluetooth keyboard and trackpad. The internal speakers are average. I recommend getting a pair of decent powered speakers. I connect a pair of powered speakers to the monitors audio input and they work perfectly. The sound is passed from the computer through the monitor to the speakers. The LG 27UK850-W 27" is a solid choice if you are considering purchasing a 4K UHD monitor. You wont be disappointed.

For $600, this monitor should look good out of the box, but it DOES NOT. By default the monitor sets "black level" to High - which means all blacks appear light grey losing all contrast! Before I figured out this was a setting I was deeply upset. Its not that the monitor *cant* look good, its just that you must be prepared to spend 30 minutes to an hour going through the custom picture settings to get it how you like; its not an easy process - Ill leave my settings at the end of the review. This monitor has significant light bleed on the 4 corners; this is my 3rd IPS monitor, and it has the worst light bleed out of all 3 (not by a long shot, but it is the worst). The bottom two corners appear orange-ish and the top two more blue-ish. This is noticeable when displaying dark content only. A big let down for me is the lack of auto-input switching. This should be standard and my previous two (ASUS) monitors supported it. I have this monitor connected to a PC, Mac, and Xbox, and frequently switch between them. Its a disappointment to have to manually switch between them. When displaying content that supports HDR10, such as booting up an HDR10 game on XBOX, the monitor automatically detects it and switches the color mode to 1 of 4 HDR presets that is user select-able. The difference is a noticeably more vibrant image, but switching to and from HDR mode can be strange. When I attempted to mount the monitor to my 100mm VESA mount, I was shocked to see that the recessed area on the monitor was slightly too small to allow my mount to fit. I had to get out a DREMEL and sand away some of the plastic on the rear of the monitor. Then I touched the molten plastic for some reason and burned my finger. Ouchie. But, this issue was specific to the VESA mount I have. The same mount fit perfectly on my previous monitor though.. Pros: USB-C, 4K, HDR10 support, Thin bezels (3 sides), built in speakers (if thats your thing - although theyre not good) Display looks pretty good on Mac OS (not so much on Windows) Cons: Horrific picture presets - difficult to get monitor picture to look good, but can be done. Significant light bleed No auto-input detection Large power brick My picture settings: Brightness: 20 Contrast: 65 Sharpness: 80 SUPER RESOLUTION+: off Black Level: Low HDMI ULTRA HD Deep Color: On DFC: off Gama: Mode 2 Red: 50 Green: 50 Blue: 50

Recently I upgraded my PC to something capable of outputting a 4K image, and Ive been wanting to buy a 4K monitor for a while. My previous monitor was a Samsung 23" 1920x1080 monitor. I do occasional photo editing, which I figured the 4K resolution would be good for (as well as the additional screen space). I also like to play PC games occasionally. After reading some reviews, I decided to splurge a bit and buy this monitor, and Im not disappointed. Some things I like about this monitor: - The picture quality is excellent. It is bright and looks clear and sharp. Colors are well-defined. Ive only used the 4K for a few days so far, but with some photos, I feel like I could stare at them for a while and marvel at how good they look. My photos look nice on this display, and I also downloaded some 4K desktop wallpaper that just look great. Even though this is a PC monitor that isnt as big as a 4K TV, you can still see the detail in images, and it looks great. - It can connect to a USB type-C port on the PC and has a couple of USB ports on the back of the monitor. I didnt really think this was necessary and didnt really need it, but this is a nice feature. The monitors USB ports would be useful for plugging in a webcam, for example, so that the USB cable doesnt have to go all the way to the back of the PC case. Or perhaps a USB printer or any other device that is located closer to the monitor than the PC case. - Good size for a PC monitor. Its bigger than my older 23" monitor, but it still fits on my computer desk at a good distance from my eyes and good level (after some re-organizing of my desk) for me to see it well. - It has built-in speakers, so it can be used as an audio output device if desired. Also, the stand lets you move the monitor up or down. One thing I was worried about was having dead pixels, but mine doesnt have any dead pixels that I can see. Overall I think this is a great monitor, and Ill enjoy using it.
