LG 24MP88HV-S 24-Inch IPS Monitor with Infinity Display 2.5mm Bezel

We are very disappointed in the customer service of this company. We ordered this monitor on Feb. 15, 2018. Upon using it, we thought it worked very good. Wed probably give it 5 stars. But, at the end of April 2018 it no longer worked correctly. One morning we turned it on and there were vertical and horizontal lines, originating near the lower left corner of the screen. It had worked perfectly the night before. It was just sitting on the desk the night before. Nothing touched it, and yet, now it had this problem that made it unusable. By the way, we dont have kids, a dog, nor do we sleep walk. Seriously, it worked perfect one night and the next morning there were these lines. So, we started the return process. It was too late to send it back to Amazon, so we had to send it to the manufacturer. They analyzed it and said, it was damaged. That made it out of warranty. We tried to explain the situation, but they were having none of it. They offered to repair it for about $150. That was totally unacceptable. So here we are. Were out the cost of this monitor and now we have to shop for a new one. I assure you, with the poor customer service shown by this company, we will buy from a different company.

I wish I could love this monitor but unfortunately, both unit (original and the replacement) shows the same type of screen defect after only 6 hours of usage and the symptom of such defect intensified as the usage time increases. I have contacted LG tech support and they said that it is the burn-in defect and instruct me to return it to retailer (Amazon) or to send in for repair. I have verified that it is not my hardware (either graphic card, the HDMI cable or the combination of two) causes such issue. I ran test with the 4 years old HP IPS LED monitor that I intended to replace, as well as a HP IPS LED monitor borrowed from a friend. In the test, I use the same port and same HDMI cable and ran the same amount of usage time for all the monitors (the HP, Dell, and the two LG 24MP88HV-S). Only the LG 24MP88HV-S shows the red glow / burn-in. I read other review and seems other users have no problem after even 4 months of usage or more. Perhaps I am just unfortunate enough to receive two defect units in a roll or something is wrong with that batch in the manufacturing process. Even the LG tech support representative looked at the issue and she said it is weird. Only TVs have burn-in but monitor rarely has burn-in. Anyway, I will have to return it and get a Dell or HP monitor. It is a shame that LG makes great products, but I am unable to have a decent one. I have many LG products and none of them has defect and operate for years. I guess I just won the “lottery” this time.

I wanted to use these monitors mainly for software development. So 1080p and 60hz was enough for me. Also, I am powering these with my dell xps 15 9560. I am using the dell wd15 dock which drives 2 displays and charges my machine. The third display is connected to the hdmi port on the laptop. Pros - Nice Panel decent speakers VESA mounting ! small bezels on all 4 sides. Makes it a champ in any multi monitor config Cons - Window management software is crappy - makes my system lag build quality is flimsy - the backside goes inside the body if you put force on the ports no display port no USB nipple button standby lights ! - so annoying If you want a monitor dont let the cons let you down. It is a great monitor with a really nice panel

After having been spoiled by LG monitors and TVs, I thought I would give it a shot and replace my current 5 year old 24 inch monitor with this one. I needed a good panel for my work and hobbies as well as a HDMI port, so, it seemed like a perfect match. Sadly, it didnt work out. I noticed the problems right when I first turned on the monitor. Black levels are virtually non-existent and the colors were totally off. Thankfully, LG monitors let you tweak the colors to your liking, so, that was something I could work with. After 2 hours of hard work, I had the colors as perfect as possible but, during the process, I discovered uneven back lighting as well as lots of light bleeding and IPS glow. At least that explained the non-existent black levels to some degree. On default settings, contrast and brightness are turned up high. Contrast was actually at the max 100%. With that settings, you could see some details in pictures, however, youd also turn blind after 8 hours working in that mode. Another issue with this monitor: when you reduce contrast and brightness, colors change, too. Youll have to do color tweaking all over again when adjusting brightness and contrast. I also noticed some heavy color crashing on this monitor. Color crashing is when you see a lot of pixelation, lines or curves on gradient colors instead of a smooth transition. None of the settings seemed to ease that; I tried anything I could think of. The viewing angles on this monitor are very narrow, too. A little up / down shift of your head or a little left and right movement will make the screen fade instantly. The built-in speakers work but they sound so tinny that youd prefer to not have them on at all. And, lastly, the power led. It seems to have a mind of its own. I set the led in the settings to "off", however, whenever you wake up the computer / screen, the led is on. On standby it continuously flashes which is really annoying. I dont understand why LG would think that people would like that. I will be switching back to my old monitor. This one is just not for me. My recommendation: look elsewhere for a decent monitor. This isnt it!

When I first turned the monitor on I could barely look at anything black because it pixelated like crazy. I included my settings that seem to mitigate some of this pixelation. Backlighting is even and I dont have issues with burn-in. This bezel less LG Monitor is amazing and its cheap. It looks even better when its wall mounted. No complaints at all. The silver and white is actually a nice color combination. Not really a fan of white monitors but the no bezel look made look past the white. I own a few Samsung TV/monitors in black/silver but this white/silver LG color is sexy.

Lovely monitor, but the stand is so bad and wobbly... a monitor stand is a must buy with this one...

The slim bezels concept seemed like a gimmick, but this is the closest you will get to bezeless right now. The FHD monitor looks amazing and it is great for gaming on Xbox due to the 60Hz refresh rate. If you game on PC higher than 60 FPS then this monitor is not for you. The stand was a bit wobbly though it looks nice, but not really an issue since I mounted mine.

Great screen... replaced my 16-year-old Sony monitor and its an amazing upgrade. Im a huge LG fan, so I may be biased. My only grievance is that it doesnt have easy default settings. I wish I could adjust the warmness and coldness for night and day time, but there is no such button. There are too many color scheme adjustments Id have to go through. I just want a default where I can just adjust the warmness.
