I bought Z27 monitor in HP web store, not on Amazon. I bought it because it has usb-c connection for data and charging to use as external display for my Lenovo X1 Cabron 6 Gen laptop using usb-c to usb-c. Unfortunately, the display blackouts every few seconds and shows the message that there is no connection. I downloaded and installed video driver for HP and tried several different usb-c to usb-c cables – including Apple and Belkin. With Belkin cable it drops connection less frequent than with the cable which came with monitor, but still drops. I also suspected the laptop itself, but then I tried to connect it via usb-c to usb-c to different 4K monitor and it worked perfectly and never dropped connection. Now I found in Q&A for this display on Amazon that another customer had the same problem with DP connection. I was so glad when I found this monitor because I liked a lot about it – build, picture quality, internal power supply. Too bad I had to return it. I submit similar review on HP web store site, but they didn’t publish it yet. Update - I received the email from HP. They thank me for my review but will not publish it because it did not meet all our website guidelines. I wonder what their guidelines are - not less than 4 stars for all HP products? I hoped they try to solve the problem, not to hide it from other customers.

After hooking up the monitor to my 15 inch Mac Book Pro via the USB-C cable everything looked great at 4k until after several minutes the screen started flickering and eventually went completely black. While I fiddled with the cable it came back on and turned back off several times. Sometimes it stayed on for several minutes, sometimes only a second. Switching to a lower resolution or 30hz or using the display port cable seemed to resolve the issue... but I would have bought a much cheaper monitor if that was what I wanted. I also noticed that when viewing something with a dark background there was a little bit of "snow" moving around. I started to suspect the cable was bad. Its marked as "Full USB 3.1 Gen 1"... which Im pretty sure isnt fast enough to handle 4k at 60hz. So I bought an Apple Thunderbolt 3 cable and now everything works perfectly. All in all its a pretty nice monitor but if you plan on using USB-C at 4k, also plan in your budget for a better cable.

I bought this monitor mainly for work (and playing movies), as a software engineer I work from home twice a week, and I need a big screen. Id like to highlight a few things that werent clear in other reviews: 1. The USB Type-C port works perfectly with my 13 inch macbook pro (2016 model, maxed out configuration), I dont see any issue like insufficient power or any issue with the cable, it just works. 2. It does come with 2 Type-C ports and 3 regular USB ports, but only one Type-C port (the one on the bottom) actually transmits video signal. The regular USB ports work like a hub. 3. Its height is easily adjustable, one touch, very smooth mechanism. And since it can rotate, swivel (shake head) and tilt (nod), it basically can adjust to whatever position you like. 4. Assembling the screen onto the base it is super easy. Slide and push, and it just locks. took me 2 seconds. No screws or any tool required. Theres a button on the bottom of the screen to unlock screen from base. Overall Im very satisfied!

I stumbled upon this reading a rare review, and I’m glad I did. The construction is solid, it looks very high end and the picture is crisp and accurate right out of the box. I’m using it with my 2015 MacBook Pro using Thunderbolt to Display Port running at 4K and 60hz. I bought the needed cable on Amazon too. Update: Since writing this, I have upgraded to a 2017 15” MacBook Pro and now connect via the HP suppliers usb-c cable. No issues. Everything works as expected. Now the monitor displays my screen and charges my laptop :)

I chose this monitor for its simple appearance and for the reputation of HP (because I could find no reviews online), and it has exceeded my expectations. The quality of construction is superb, truly quite impressive. Only two pieces, easy to assemble (and disassemble). I have never previously purchased a 4K monitor, so I have no basis for comparison on the visuals, but I similarly have no complaints. Be advised that it does not have built in speakers, but if this doesn’t matter to you, I think you will like it.

I have a monitor that outclasses my Mac mini. BTW, it is not a glossy screen monitor. Thats why I got it. Im not a gamer so dont ask about performance. Video (movies, etc.) look great.

I have a pair of these side-by-side, and the thin bezels really make it work great. I use photoshop elements with these, and I just love them to death. Great monitor. Just great. Seriously, just give them your money. Youll be glad you did.

I love the USB-C port!!! It charges my MacBook Pro 13 2018 AND basically acts as a dock because the monitors’s USB-A ports connect through the single USB-C cable WHICH CHARGES TOO! (I know I said that twice.)

Not so many options on the market, thank you, HP, for bringing this one. This is a workhorse for anyone doing a lot of text... coding, spreadsheet, etc... While not as defined as LG 5K it is more than twice cheaper and the build quality is really great! If you are into picture/video editing or graphic design, the panel is not bad but out of the box but none of the preset really does the job, too pop or something else not just "right" (compared to my previous entry-level Eizo or the LG 5K). Im thinking to get a Spyder Color. Bear in mind there is no ambient light sensor, so at night it can get really really really bright. Brightness cursor for me is between 20 and 30 over 100.

This is a great monitor. I use it with my Dell XPS13 9380. It will display, charge, and connect 4 usb ports all over one cable. It is fully adjustable. My only complaint is I wish the adjustment points were a bit more stiff.
