The good: Excellent 4K monitor in a 27" panel size... for certain setups. Text can be a bit small, but thats ok; you know what youre buying into. No really obvious defects in pixels. Its a few dim ones here and there but there are so many other pixels, the bad ones blend in. Contrast is noticeably better than my 1000:1 AUO IPS panel and a good bit better than the U2313HM as long as full RGB range is selected. Limited range mode will lead to the 600:1 ratio that some sites measured. Colors are great when using custom RGB mode at 100/100/100. Not Im a a stickler on colors so dont hold me to an artistss standard. Minor bleeding from the edges of the display, but otherwise good black uniformity. See photo. The mediocre and bad: At oblique angles, IPS glow is visible on the corners when the screen is dark as is expected of IPS panels. No points off since this is to be expected of all IPS panels. HOWEVER, DisplayPort colors are messed up on the green channel, and its not an individual monitor issue. Not sure how Dell missed this defect when qualifying this monitor. If you want to use this panel, you need to use HDMI 2.0 at 8bpc and full color range. Not sure if a DP1.2 -> HDMI2.0 adapter will work. Theoretically it should, but I have not tried it. Since I have a free HDMI2.0 port, I did not take any stars off, but for anyone that cannot, this monitor is a nonstarter. Others: The design looks like the panel was just slid into an open frame. Pressing gently on the edges will change the amount of backlight bleeding as theres no hard bezel from the front. Not a detraction, just an interesting observation.

While it provides good color accuracy on Windows, this monitor WILL NOT work properly on macOS since theres no official support on mac yet. You can see in the photos that the green is shown incorrectly (last few gradients are merged) on this display comparing to the one shown on macbook pros retina display.

This monitor is one of, if not the best professional 4K IPS monitor available right now. It has 100% sRGB, HDR support, and comes factory color calibrated so it looks fantastic out of the box. No dead pixels, extremely thin bezels. The stand is very stable, and has height, tilt, and rotation (you can use this is portrait or landscape mode). Its an amazing difference in color, resolution, and size compared to my old U2415 1200p monitor. Monitor is great for photo and video editing, 4k gaming, and software development. It will have a slightly slower response time than a TN monitor, but its definitely worth getting IPS for the deep blacks and accurate colors. The monitor comes with a displayport to mini displayport cable, and a USB 3.0 cable (it has 2 USB ports built in on the side, and 2 on the bottom). Finally, this Ultrasharp comes with a 3-year warranty with a fast replacement, which is great if you happen to get a dead pixel or something like that. I couldnt recommend this monitor enough, its worth every penny.

When I first received this product, I thought "DAMN THIS IS HUGE!" When opening up the box I kept saying to myself "damn, Dell doesnt screw around at all" over and over due to how well the monitor was packaged. I have never seen how well a monitor has been sealed up and placed in a box before. When I was taking the monitor out, it had a shielded cover. I didnt think much until I pulled it out and noticed there was another cover covering the screen. I, again was saying "damn Dell doesnt screw around at ALL!" So once setting it up I was stunned by how large these monitors are. One major feature I bought these monitors was the small bezels. They are INCREDIBLY SMALL! Im literally stunned at how well this monitor is well made and how well thought out the design is. The buttons in the bottom right corner are really small, but a plus for me but not sure about others. The options it gives for custom screen settings is awesome. You get Standard, Comfort View, Movie, Game, Color Temp., and Custom Color. I prefer Comfort View due to it having a yellowish color and easy on the eyes at night. I also had to disable to "monitor auto sleep" within the settings. But other than that this monitor is just absolutely amazing. In short, if anyone is looking for a 4K monitor with small bezels that offers many options, this monitor is for you. The item is pricey, I know and I too was a bit hesitant for Ive never spent $500 on a monitor before. But trust me, this monitor will put a smile on your face the moment its at your door.

1. Beautiful display, Looks very professional. 2. Bezels are very thin. 3. Brightness at the right level (Easy on eyes) As suggested by many reviewers (thank you!) To make it work for macbook pro 2017: 1. Install the latest firmware update for the monitor(M2B102). You will need a windows computer to update the firmware. Follow the instructions on Dell site. 2. Use USB-C to DisplayPort Cable (HDMI caused the monitor to flicker even after firmware update); I purchased the cable at Apple store (Moshi) as it supports 5k @ 60 hz; It is pricey at $49. I personally didnt want to take any chance and wanted something to work.

Just got this today, so far so good. No complaints yet. I know there were some color and HDR issues from a few reviews that its not as good as its UP2718Q hardware HDR cousin (of course!) but I wasnt about to fork out $1000 more bucks for that either. This monitor so far is very nice indeed, larger than my 24" LCD that bit the dust last week due to old age and power outage surge. Lighter weight that I expected too. Anyway, still playing around w/ it but so far love all the features, esp the height, tilt, pivot and swivel adjustments, theyre perfect! In fact I wont buy a new monitor that doesnt have these versatile stand features in an LCD. The buttons being on bottom are kinda nice and outta the way too (long as you know which is which, still figuring that out. Oh yea and the thin bezel is a definite plus. Would make great side by side for a dual monitor setup. Also love that Dell included both a 6" HDMI, DisplayPort and USB 3.0 cables right in the box. Currently have it hooked up via HDMI running 2K resolution at 60Hz, Both Warcraft, and Witcher 3 look incredible in those specs! Highly recommended if youre looking for a new 2018 model 4K monitor.. I may update review w/ 4K results a bit later. Thanks again Amazon and Dell! UPDATE 05/31/18: Set 4K in both Windows and WoW, works great w/ 60Hz on HDMI. Yes you have way more real estate screen wise but keep in mind Windows 10 at 4K, fonts and icons are very small and spread out -- & if youre like me I cant see too small of fonts anymore -- not w/o reading glasses anyway and I dont want to strain my eyes any more than have to. As for Warcraft, while it may look a bit smoother on some areas / screens I couldnt tell a big difference if any over 1080p so switched back to 1080p Widescreen which still looks great. I have not tried some newer game titles in 4K b/c do not have anything except Witcher 3, and have not tried it under 4K yet ... Im sure its fine. Some of you hard core gamers can give it a try....

Pros: - 4K clarity - Acceptable response times - Thin bezel - Decent color - Bright (but not to HDR spec) - Nice stand - Wake from sleep is relatively quick - VESA mountable Cons: - Windows 10 HiDPI is a mess; UI and font scaling is inconsistent across apps. This isnt the fault of the monitor, just something to consider if youre considering upgrading to 4K. I found setting Windows 10 scaling to 188% gives good results. - There is a firmware update available on Dells web site to fix green tint issues - update is only available for Windows. - On screen display looks terrible - fonts are jagged. Fortunately I dont use it often. - Minor light bleed - 2/15/18 UPDATE - Noticeable red-to-blue color shifting depending on your viewing angle - 2/15/18 UPDATE - Slight image retention after only a few minutes (see pic) UPDATE 2/15/18: I bought two of these for a dual-monitor setup, and Ive noted a couple of new "cons" now that Ive spent more time with them. Both monitors have color shifting and image retention issues. Both have the latest firmware update. Im really torn on whether or not Im going to keep these. I was also lucky enough to get two panels with no pixel defects and minimal light bleed. I love the thin bezel and 4K resolution, but the color shifting and image retention issues may be deal-breakers for me. The bummer is I cant seem to find a better 4K IPS monitor. UPDATE 2/17/18: The image retention on these monitors is a deal-breaker for me. Im super bummed because this monitor is perfect in just about every other way, but something like this would annoy me to no end. Im going to return them.

Mac user. Designer. Ive used the Apple 27" Thunderbolt monitor 2560x1440 for many many years. Loved it. But next to my Retina-class MBPs, it was starting to give me eyestrain with its chunky pixels. So with discount 4ks @ 3840x2160 hitting the $400 mark, I figured it was finally time to upgrade. I read all the reviews I could find. Despite very mixed Mac reviews, found out about the firmware upgrade, and decided to take the risk. Here is my personal experience: PROS: 1. setup was amazing. had it out of the box and assembled and on my desk and attached to the MBP in less than 6 minutes. True plug-and-play... well, sort of. 2. The slim bevel is kickass. 3. the 4k resolution is stunning. I now realise that even a lot of my digital photographs arent that high-rez. 4. Mac display scaling, once set up, works perfectly... better than expected. It scales all UX elements, yet still uses the 4k resolution for text rendering. Retina++ 5. vertical mode has completely re-written my web surfing experience. Reading many "long page" websites, including the New York Times, without having to scroll, is pretty amazing. 6. did I mention that the display rotates? 7. the base is ROCK SOLID. I read some reviews of some pretty white Samsungs that shook a lot. This thing is solid. 8. Really great range of Height adjustment AND significant leeway for vertical tilt angle. 9. This monitor actually looks good from its backside. The space-grey is almost a perfect match for the MBP. Im a designer. People visit my studio. Thats important to me. 10. The price : performance is superb. 4k tilt-able solid base for ~$450? nothing else comes close. CONS: 1. The native 4k resolution has an *insanely* high pixel density at 27", far surpassing the MBPs retina resolution. There is a solution here: you set resolution to "scaling" in the System Preferences, and up it a couple notches. 2. 20 years ago, I had a "pivot display" on my Mac Quadra 950. When I spun the display, the OS automagically adjusted, including my window placement. One of the reasons I bought this monitor was its "pivotability". But once you pivot it, you have to manually go into your System Preferences and map the rotation. 3. (this was also a problem on the 27" thunderbolt, still worth mentioning). 4. The on-screen menu system is at like 640x480 mono-color resolution. clearly its in the BIOS. But seriously, with a 4k monitor, couldnt they have put a cheap mobile graphics chip into there and at least made the text look decent? 5. As many many many online reviewers have noted, the green is hyper-saturated, off-target and "flourescent." This is a problem for photo editing. Presumably, there is a firmware update (DELL_U2718Q_FWUpdate_M2B102_Windows.exe) that fixes this. It, however, requires that I hook the monitor up to a Windows PC to install it. Luckily, I have one of those laying around. Many Mac users wont. Either way, the new firmware should come installed from the factory. PITA. 6. It should come with a USB-C to DP adapter. You have to buy one separately. Thats my feelings. What would have made it 5-star? • firmware for green-fix installed at the factory. • some kind of orientation / rotation auto-detect for the OS • better / high-res on screen menus.

Early in this monitors product cycle, users were expressing apparently valid complaints on a green tinge which was impossible to get rid of even with calibration. I almost held-off purchase due to this, but it no longer seems to be a problem. The monitor was in calibration out of the box with a printed and detailed chart. This is an excellent panel which has surpassed my expectations. If youre running older hardware, make sure your system is compatible because the older HDMI and DP port versions dont support 4k.
