After having a Dell 2407 for almost 10 years now, I went with the Dell Ultrasharp series in hope for quality. Unfortunately, I had to return this. The backlight bleed/IPS glow was unacceptable. If any solid color occupied most of the screen, you would see obvious differences from region to region. A solid black screen could not exist to any viewer at any angle. Color calibration was also extremely bad. For example, I couldnt get pure red to look anything other than a brick red, unless I sacrificed all of the other colors to do it. The bleed/glow problem compounded this color issue. There was vertical color banding throughout the screen, a new sort of monitor failure to me. OSD was hard to use, provided no tactile feedback.

I bought one of these a year and a half ago from Amazon and it was great. The one I have from them is still working great and has great colors and calibration out of the box. I bought another one from Amazon a few weeks ago, and I have no clue what happened, but it looks like quality control has gone down the drain. I matched the exact same settings on my new monitor with my original and the color calibration out of the box is way off, theres way more light bleed, and you can see faint lines developing. The monitor is usable, but for a premium monitor at a premium price you expect more. Im returning it. I did notice on the back of my original it was manufactured as "rev a" or revision a. The new one that I just bought was rev b. I have a feeling the sourcing of parts and factory where they now build these has changed and quality has gone down the dumps as a result.
