after my imac 2009 27" display went off because of a back light failure, I have been searching and testing for a year and half for something equivalent to its quality, specially that I work on hybrid windows/mac workspaces, I hired a thunderbolt display temporary from a friend because it is really hard to find what I want in my country - yes, I am from Egypt not USA, it was shipped with shop&ship perfectly - and after the hunt for about 2 years I can finally say it after placing it side by side with the thunderbolt display: IT IS AWESOME, with awesome true colors, IPS bright panel from all angles viewable, and surprisingly, slightly better than the thunderbolt though, with the same quality of the late 2013 imac 27" too,,,,with its reasonably price...its amazing! also in the gaming mode even though its response time (6ms) is slower than my previous samsung UHD 4k 28" (1ms)...I cant seriously spot the difference, the fps is still smooth with very wonderful colors in gaming! if you are a designer/photographer/video editor or in any other coloring field and looking for a display equivalent to apple prods and convenient with hybrid systems with perfect price....THIS IS YOUR BEST CHOICE OUT THERE!

This is a pretty good monitor. I got it because I needed a monitor for professionally editing photos and it was clear with moody low-key photos that the blacks were impossible to get right with my old monitor. I got this one because it was generally considered a good, professional option with the IPS spec. The monitor comes color corrected from the factory and the colors are excellent. If you are editing mid or high key photos this will suit you just fine but issues start to arise when getting into the low key very dark photos. Its absolutely noticeable to a large degree. The photos attached are in a *completely dark room* with virtually no light interference. The dark images are a pure black image maxed in Photoshop, the bright one is pure white. The black is CLEARLY not black, theres severe light bleeding on almost 50 percent of the screen. The white is less noticeable but the bottom of the screen has a dark gradient fade over the bottom inch or so of the screen. Its fairly tolerable, but still really annoying and something I expect to be resolved when paying $400 for a monitor. Its also highly reflective when displaying anything darker than grey which makes editing dark images increasingly irritating. Is it a decent monitor? Sure. Is it good by professional standards? No. Whats the best thing above this? $3,000 OLED screen. Will this do fine for most people? Probably, but Im picky. I expected more. I have a 120hz 4k OLED TV and its likely spoiled me in terms of pure blacks and color accuracy. These IPS monitors are likely to get phased out once OLED monitors become mainstream in a few years. Its unfortunate, but this is probably still your most affordable choice with guaranteed color accuracy for now even at what I consider 3 stars.

Whats not to love? The bezel is extremely thin all around, about a half inch, the monitor is light and can be easily raised and lowered without adjusting any knobs or anything. Aside from the svelt shape which makes it seems like a smaller monitor than it is, 27" is a great size for me that enables me to have at least three Word documents side by side which makes work a lot easier for me. The screen is bright and the colors are great. Glare coating isnt annoying me at all, and definitely cuts down glare compared with a glossy display. The additional USB ports are fabulous if you have a lot of external peripherals. I have a MacBook Pro and Mac Mini that I can hook up and switch between them easily if I need to, plus multiple USB ports for external hard drives or hubs. The Dell UltraSharp line has a great reputation and you can really see why--the price was very reasonable for the quality. No its not 4K, but as of right now I dont foresee needing 4K for awhile. Resolution is very sharp and crisp, I was reluctant to go to a non-Apple Retina display, but I really dont see a huge difference from the 27" iMacs display so why pay more? The function buttons are okay, and relatively easy to switch from one input source to another. For those Apple users, you should know that an external display will mess with conveniences like being able to adjust the volume using your keyboard if your speakers are plugged into the display directly. Theres a way around that using the free Soundflower utility which I dont think is being developed anymore unfortunately but still works and its still not as easy. You can also get lags in sound so be sure to increase the buffer size in Soundflower if that happens. No complaints so far with this monitor.

I had the prior version of this monitor, and this one is definitely a few leaps better. Same infinity edge that is great, the back plastic cap has been removed (which makes accessing ports MUCH easier), and the stand neck is a little wider than the previous model. Great color, awesome resolution, works really well with my 15" 2015 Macbook Pro. I work as a web developer with this as my main monitor and my laptop on a stand off the the side, perfect combination without too much clutter.

I upgraded from a 1080 display (also a Dell) to this 2K monitor and I couldnt be happier. The colors are vivid and the text is sharp and clear. I use this monitor for work, so it was very important that spreadsheets and other documents look sharp. This monitor didnt disappoint. The large resolution allows for two browser windows to be open side-by-side without overlapping or horizontal scroll bars. The USB hub is something I love about Dell monitors. The inputs/outputs are perfect also, with Displayport in and out, as well as HDMI. Im now waiting for another sale so I can pick up a second U2717D. There are small darker spots in the corners of the monitor, but the monitor is so big that you really shouldnt be focusing on the corners. Doesnt bother me.

Picture quality on this monitor is pretty much perfect. I have it on custom color without making any alternations since Standards feels a bit too dark. I mostly use it for anime on pc (I sorta perfer a smaller screen for watching anime to read the subtitles faster without needing to wear my glasses), and I experimented with ps3 and it looks really good for both (you basically can use it as a monitor/tv). Playstation Tv looks okay you can definitely notice a little bit of quality issues but I have the same issues with my 4k oled. You can hook up this monitor to headphones or sound system that supports headphone jack. I have them hooked up to my pc speakers.

Ive used Dell monitors almost exclusively for the past several years. I tried saving a few bucks and trying an HP monitor, but I returned it. Dell UltraSharp - though their QA has been scrutinized lately - is still the standard for monitors within the $500 range. I can see very inconsistent back-lighting when the screen is completely black, much like others have pictured, but you really dont notice it at all outside of the Dell screen when you start it up. Other than that, text is extremely sharp and colors are great. Im a software developer, so good monitors are important to me. I still havent found a monitor in the price range that Id rather have. Highly recommended.

The monitor I received had two lines of dead pixels. It was Amazon Warehouse deal, so perhaps not Dells fault; that said, why was a defective product being shipped? I returned it. That aside, at 2560x1550, the display also suffers compared to 4k monitors at the same price. I upgraded to an LG 27UD69P, which cost the same amount, but is just a generally better monitor. (That monitor flickers on Windows, but not Ubuntu... so its not the monitor.) On Windows, pixel scaling was not an issue. On Ubuntu 16.04, having two monitors (3800x and 4k) with similar DPIs made scaling them both much easier. It was a headache on the Dell U2717D.

Got two these a work display (I work from home) and for my Mac for personal use. They are beautiful. My girlfriend, who lives with me and also works from home, couldnt believe I would pay so much for a monitor so she ordered a $200 one from HP. As soon as she set it up she reboxed it and sent it back to and replaced it with the 2018 model of this Dell. The text is so sharp with the Dell -- if you are going to do any amount of editing and spreadsheet work, this is worth it. I dont do gaming which it seems what all reviews are written about.

dollar for dollar, this seems to be as close as I can get to a thunderbold display without actually buying one. It clear, looks great, colors are true.etc. Im not in love with the HUGE base it stands on, so I bough a monitor arm for it. Also, at the end of the day, its NOT a Thunderbold display, thus the 4 instead of 5 stars. Looks good, but if you have a mac and have the extra few hundred dollars to get a Thunrderbold display from ebay for example, or a referb, Id do it!
