I dont usually write product reviews, but after doing such extensive research for my new monitors and reading hundreds of reviews myself, I realized that its important. Everyones needs are different and Ive given these monitors 5 stars because they fit "my" needs in every way. After working on a laptop for years and having 2 monitors at work, I realized I needed more "real estate" at home since I work from home a lot. I found that I constantly switch between multiple screens to listen to music, play games, and do everyday online tasks.....all while remote accessing my computer at work. This was too inefficient. Soooo.... I initially bought 2 of these monitors, understanding the multiple issues that were communicated in the reviews, but I attributed some of them to "operator" error. After a week of using with the original stands on my desk, I realized I needed a 3rd. So, I now have 3 monitors. To gain more space on my desk, I invested in a very affordable: - VIVO Triple LCD Monitor Desk Mount Stand Heavy Duty Fully Adjustable fits 3 /Three Screens up to 24" (STAND-V003), - Dell USB 3.0 Triple Display UltraHD Universal Dock (D3100), and - Cable Matters Gold Plated DisplayPort to HDMI Adapter, Black). After setting everything up and working with it for a while, I have the following feedback from my use and from reading previous reviews of the monitors. Ive also included a picture of my current setup. 1) The edge to edge setup is beautiful, especially with the very thin bezel, and the VIVO mount is perfect. One reviewer noted that you do lose some depth on your desk, which is true. But, I gained space underneath the monitors which is more important to me and is what caused me headaches before. 2) Also noted in previous reviews is the tendency for a monitor to sporadically cut on and off again. This happens to me as well, but after switching cables around a few times, I realized that it only happens on the monitor connected via the DisplayPort. So, it is not the monitor itself. I still have to figure this issue out and determine if there is a fix, perhaps with the Dell dock. 3) The price of the monitors is good. The picture quality is great. I dont find the menus cumbersome at all. The speakers are mediocre, but I plan on using external speakers that I have already, anyway. Overall, this has been my best purchase of the year. I run it all from my laptop, which I keep closed on my desk and tucked out of the way. If I ever need that screen, I can open it up and quickly reconfigure my settings to have 4 screens. But, thats not likely. Hope this review helps.

I have had a slightly smaller (21 inch) very expensive apple cinema display for years. But my eye sight is not so great and I could never run in in full 1080p with the tiny text. So, this seemed like the time to upgrade to a 1080p larger screen (27) that would be easier on my eyes. Sure, I could have spent a bit more and got a higher res screen but I no longer play games on my pc (other than old ones) so I dont need a 4k monitor. It seems now is the time to get a reasonable priced 1080p display because everyone is going 2k or 4k. As a comparison, the old 21 inch apple dipslay was > $600 but the image quality of this monitor is better IMO. The color accuracy may not be as good but they do give you a costume color mode (RGB) if you want to get it dialed in. The brightness is super, I only drive it at 20-30% in a low light room but it can be driven to very bright in a well light room (but it is reflective). As far as image quality, sharpness, brightness, and uniform back-light, I find this monitor very good. It has a bit of glare so its not the best choice for a room where you have lots of windows and sunlight but for a room where you dont have a lot of light from behind, its ok. This monitor only has one HD connection "HDMI" so make sure your vid-card supports that. It would have been nice to have display port but HDMI works great and the cables can be acquired on the cheap. SPECIAL NOTE: Built in Speaker is crap! Seriously crap. My review is based on image quality. I dont use the speakers and I would not use them unless you want to use tin-can quality speakers. They could be useful for a portable Xbox display but dont expect much from the speakers. I was hoping they would be acceptable for multi-media but they sound like you are in a cave. So, if you want decent multi-media all in one monitor, the speakers are not good enough. + Image Quality + The controls menu, etc are very good. Changing the brightness/contrast is just a few clicks away. + Brightness + Tilts up/down (- no left/right rotation but its light enough where you can just shift it) + Black level and back light uniformity - Speakers (crap but could be nice as portable HDMI display in a pinch) - Reflective screen (but fine unless you have a bright window behind you) * Not height adjustable (but the height was just right for me so not a negative) Overall, for the price, you get a very good image display. Dont count on the speaker and you have a very good 1080p display.

Pros: Great picture quality, as expected of an IPS panel. Out of the box too, no tweaking really needed. Vibrant colors. Menus are easy to navigate. Decent response time of 6ms. Very thin bezels, looks sexy and perfect for dual monitor setup. VESA capable. Cons: No height adjustment or left/right tilt. Only supports minimal up/down tilt. Glossy screen. Dont let sunlight get to it. No DVI or DisplayPort connection, only VGA and HDMI. Who buys new PCs/monitors and uses VGA in this day and age? Its a 60Hz panel. Look elsewhere if you plan to play CSGO or any fast paced games, get a 144Hz TN instead. If you average FPS in games doesnt get higher than 60 then this monitor is perfectly fine. Compared to its matte big brother, the U2414H, you gain a faster response time (6ms vs 8ms on the U), a glossy screen (glossy vs matte is purely preference) and built-in speakers, at the expense of height/pivot adjustability, a DisplayPort, a mini DP, an HDMI and 4 USB 3.0 ports. Picture quality wise the two should be equal as they employ two very similar LG IPS panels (the difference being response time). Unless you absolutely need all the connectivities and luxury features of the UltraSharp line and most importantly cant tolerate a glossy screen, this monitor and the S line as a whole is a seious contender for its price.

Im reviewing this as a monitor for programming on Windows without scaling. I work in VMware with Xubuntu + i3 so scaling is not an option. Text is sharp and clear. Its not as good as the Apple Cinema Display which has the best text clarity of any monitor period. Id say the text is 8/10 in comparison. Youre not going to find much better text unless you spend 2-4X more or go with Mac. I could live with 2 of these side by side as my main setup if my my 2008 ACD should ever die. The effective work area isnt significantly smaller than the 27" ACD thanks to the Dells ultra-thin bezels. Colors are good but not great. Viewing angles are great thanks to IPS. Without a doubt one of the better values in monitors especially if you can get it at < $129 ls I did. The one I received came with one stuck pixel. Not going to bother returning it. I didnt even notice it until I ran a dead pixel test. With my luck the next one will have two.

I have owned two of these for over 6 months now, and have recently purchased a third. When I was looking for monitors, I had two requirements that they must meet. Those two requirements were: Small bezel Vesa compatible with out an adapter To my surprise there werent many contenders that fit my criteria, many of the monitors I found either had a small bezel or was vesa compatible, not both. I found this one early on in my search, and the few others I found were mostly Dell as well. I didnt have a need for anything above 1920x1080 resolution so I ended up choosing this one over the others due to the size and price. I currently use these in a dual screen setup, and looking to upgrade to a quad screen. I use my monitors for everyday use, as well as gaming. I was told by a few review sites to expect ghosting in games due to the 6ms response time, but in my 6+ months of use I have not encountered this. The picture quality is great, and the colors are nice and vibrant. I recommend this monitor, and I plan on purchasing at least one more as long as the stock holds up. The only disappointment I have is it seems that Dell has stopped making these and their "new" model is lacking the small bezel.

I bought this monitor to go with another monitor of the exact same model so that I could use two screens at one time. The monitor is a fantastic size for productivity and having only a high definition (1080p) at 27 inches is no problem when you predominantly use productivity based applications. The monitor is a gloss screen which may show some reflections however with the brightness up in my environment It has been no issue. The only thing I notice is that between my two monitors the stand has a 5mm (1/4 inch) height difference but I have fixed this by putting a magazine beneath the shorter one. If I did not already have this monitor and require to twin screen I would have gone for the newer version. But it is a solid monitor from dell.

Huge fan of these monitors. Im currently running 2, but have setup a total of 4 so far. No dead pixels, no issues of any kind so far. The picture is great - its only 1080p on these guys, but the colors come across beautifully. The borderless (there is a slight bit of black around the image display and a very thin plastic bezel, so its not actually borderless) looks modern and sharp! Buttons are capacitive touch and I like that the power supply is external. Not fun when an internal power brick dies. The only downside I can think of is that when it sleeps, the power indicator light (bright white) pulses slowly. Its a minor thing and I could just turn the monitor off, but in a dark room its very noticeable. Speakers are there, but... internal speakers, what can you expect. No DVI hookup, FYI! HDMI or VGA without adapting. Still, 5/5 for this Dell.

These monitors are perfect for an office or home office when the primary use doesnt include any gaming. While they will do just fine for gaming in respect to color and clarity the 60hz leaves much to be desired for higher end graphics. That said the clarity and look is perfect and with VESA mounting and VGA/HDMI ports you can easily dual up with most docking stations or default video ports. The bezel is ultra slim and dual monitors look great with these. As expected the speakers leave something to be desired but one shouldnt be expecting amazing sound quality from a builtin monitor speaker. Overall these are a solid monitors for business use.

Absolutely LOVE this monitor. I prefer a glass (glossy) finish over a matte finish, because I feel that a matte finish washes out the colors. I saw this at Micro Center for $350 and was blown away by how rich and deep the picture quality was, found it on Amazon for $230 and picking it up was a no brainer. I could not be happier. I got this for a new gaming PC I built and it is by far the best looking monitor I have ever owned for gaming. Again, I prefer the glossy finish of this (think IMac screen), over a matte finish. So if you prefer matte, look elsewhere, but if you like the deeper contrast of glass, get this.

I bought this display primarily as a camera monitor for making largely boring YouTube videos. What I wanted was a very wide viewing angle, a crisp picture, and good color depth and contrast for a couple of hundred bucks. For the price, this monitor is amazing. It absolutely exceeded my expectations. Dells site lists the viewing angle as 178 degrees both horizontally and vertically. There is a little bit of darkening of the far side of the screen when viewed nearly from the side, but I also own decent quality IPS monitors from HP and Asus and this Dell beats them out. Fresh from the factory the colors look great. They can probably use some tweaking, but the first thing I did with the monitor was throw on a couple of my own videos that I graded (not that I know what Im doing), and they looked "right". White and grey fields were very consistent and even, except at extreme viewing angles. With a black field I was slightly disappointed with a noticeable backlight bleed in the lower-right corner when viewing straight on. Its pretty minor, and has a very smooth gradation which helps it from popping through unless the screen is very very dark. Contrast looks great, both in videos and in color charts. As with everything, this is a relatively cheap monitor so its not perfect. But at this price point its gotta be one of the best IPS displays out there. I work in IT, so Ive handled a lot of monitors. This one has a quality feel. The fit and finish are very consistent, it has a nice weight (maybe "nice density" is a better term) and solidity. Though the stand lacks height adjustment (not often seen at this price anyhow) and the vertical swivel range is pretty small, its pretty solid. The base isnt very wide, so if you press down on the top corner on either side it could easily tip over. (But why would you do that?) I havent tested the speakers, because .. well, I didnt buy it for the speakers, and Im going to take a guess and say that theyre not very good. One awesome thing that I didnt see in the other reviews is that the monitor uses exactly the same power supply as Dells low-end business laptops. The connector and power specifications (19.5V / 3.34A) makes it compatible with most of Dells entire range of laptops. I know that doesnt sound so important, but if you have a Dell laptop and the power supply dies on you then you can just pull the one off your monitor while you wait for a replacement. If youve ever been stuck with a dead laptop, you know that could be a huge plus. Its also great because a replacement PSU for the monitor is extremely easy to find. (And you can trust me on this.. the monitors PSU is currently powering and charging my trusty old Latitude E5410.) Oh, and I know that theres an Acer out there thats a bit cheaper with similar specs. The main reason I chose this one is because of the VESA mounting holes. Also, the Acer has ports that are rear-facing. If youre concerned about aesthetics, the S2415H has down-facing connectors, and a removable bezel to cover them. Its kinda irrelevant for me, but its another little touch that puts the monitor above the rest. It comes with an HDMI cable, instructions, and a driver/whatever CD. Everything went in the garbage besides the HDMI cable. Its a real cheap cable -- not gold-plated -- but its better than no cable at all. There is no VGA nor analog audio cable, both of which the monitor does support. Oh, and something I didnt realize until after Id ordered: It has a glossy screen. For me thats not a problem, but its not mentioned in the description here on Amazon. (It is mentioned in a couple of reviews, so if youre already down to mine then you probably already know that. Shame on me for not thoroughly reading the reviews first. ;) ). Obviously Id recommend this monitor. Ive seen far worse monitors for more money, but I dont think Ive seen a better one for less.
