OK, first of all, Im using this for both gaming and regular PC use. I have very light-sensitive eyes, so Im really happy with the Dell Display Manager software which can be set to automatically detect what youre doing and adjust the monitors brightness, saturation, gamma, and contrast for you, so you arent fiddling with monitor controls all the time. This means when Im surfing the web, its darker (because I cant handle the bright white web pages), and then when I switch to a video or game, it gets brighter and the contrast is adjusted automatically to give the best quality image. This is a fantastic feature. Lets talk about the built-in monitor controls for a moment, though. Dell was smart enough to make the monitor buttons create an on-screen display showing you which buttons to press to get the desire result. No more squinting at tiny letters or symbols, or fidgeting with buttons trying to figure out which one does what. Adjusting the Dell monitor is a breeze! This doesnt have a DisplayPort on it, which I consider a non-issue. I do have DisplayPort support on my video card, but honestly I think HDMI is just fine for a 1080p image , which is all this monitor can handle. Theres no 4K resolution support for this model, but thats fine. Gaming in 4K is nice but setting to 1080p means a higher frame rate and less work for my video card, so Im fine with HD. Besides, Windows does weird things with fonts and window sizing in 4K, and this is just easier to deal with for everyday Windows computing. Of course, if youre still rocking the old school VGA connection youre still covered here. Dell hasnt abandoned it yet. However, you should be aware that I tried an HDMI 2.0 cable on this and it balked at detecting my PC. I had to switch to an older HDMI cable to get any results. This monitor does not have built in speakers, so youll need to consider that when setting up. However, it is a really nice IPS panel that has a super-thin bezel. Its all screen, with the tiniest black border, and thats nice. It maximizes desktop real estate while still giving you a very large true 27" diagonal picture. Colors, contrast, sharpness, and white levels are all excellent. No complaints whatsoever regarding image quality. Theres no ghosting or lag, either, so gaming works quite well. Bottom line: This is an excellent 1080p IPS monitor with an intuitive software companion app and full support for HDMI and VGA. Five stars.

While my husband and I arent tech geeks, I can tell you that this is an improvement on our old monitors you can view the picture clearly from any angle. With the 19" Dell monitor that this one replaced, if you were standing to one side or viewing from directly above, the picture appeared very washed out and mostly indecipherable. This one looks the same no matter where youre standing. So if youre monitor is more than a couple of years old, this would certainly constitute an upgrade. Two things - this was supposed to come with three cords, but one was missing from the box so my husband had to run out to Target to pick up a replacement. Also, and I suppose this is a good thing, he dropped it on the floor when he was setting it up and it survived without a scratch. So we know its relatively durable.

I was surprised that this took an old fashioned power cord. Im glad- they are so much less expensive and easier to find than the kinds with the converters. They also often take up less space in a surge suppressor strip and theres 2 ends that can come loose, not 3 like with the big brick converters. Its got a removable black stand so it can be easily mounted. Its a very lightweight monitor. The stand doesnt take up a lot of desk space, but the monitor itself does. In fact, I had difficulty with this one because my husband has a hutch type computer desk that closes up like a small closet. This monitor was TOO BIG to go in it, so measure this carefully if you are going to be using it in a small space. Its actually a pretty big monitor. It does have a HDMI connection and I have been using that connection. Ive primarily used this monitor to stream video to from a laptop, and it works great for that. Its a good watchable monitor that fits well on my chest of drawers in my bedroom. Its so light that when I found myself needing a monitor to test a computer that came in, it was absolutely no problem to just pick it up and take it to another room. I think even a frail old lady could tote this monitor around. I put it on a tall box for a second, and ended up jerking it down, but it landed flat and didnt hurt it. Its pretty plastic, so Im not meaning to imply that it is especially durable, but the components inside must be fairly tight. Its a good basic, easy to adjust and use monitor. Im pleased with it & think its a good value. Id recommend it but to all but the most discerning gamers or graphics artists. (Or people with very tight desk space.)

I got this dell monitor because I needed a secondary screen for my desktop. I cannot believe the amount of efficient that comes in with having a second monitor. That being said, the picture quality on this monitor definitely is much better than the one I have now. It really feels like it is 4K quality; so a definite value for the cost, in my opinion. It was very easy to set it up. And the base is fairly compact. This monitor does have some weight to it and feels durable enough. Very thin. It needs an HDMI cable. And I recommend you get a good hdmi cable. You can use the vgi cable it came with but I love my hdmi. I wish it had sound in the back - would have been even more awesome. Anyway, you really can’t go wrong with this monitor. The quality image is too notch. Thank you.

The Dell 27 Inch Monitor is an all around great monitor. It has a resolution of 1920 x 1080, the pixel density is a little low because of the monitor size, it was a little noticeable after first getting the monitor but I very quickly adjusted to it. The stand for the monitor is a great size and does take up very little space on my desk. Overall I would say that this is a great monitor that gets the job done and does it very well.
