I read some pretty horrible reviews on Amazon today regarding Asus customer support, and thought, that cant be right! But now I fully understand the frustration that all of those customers have gone through. Ill start out by saying when I build a computer, most of what I pay goes into Asus products (used to, but not anymore). Motherboards, video cards, DVD drives, monitors, etc. I also recommend Asus to others, probably at least once a month if not more often, since its the brand Ive always purchased for certain products. But my last few Asus purchases have been getting worse and worse. This monitor lasted a few months working as it should. Then one day I heard a loud buzzing sound, and it was this monitor. It sounded like it was about to explode or catch on fire or something horrible (almost worse than the nails on a chalkboard sound). So I rushed in the room and tried turning the monitor off, and the sound stopped. I wasnt sure if it was a one-time fluke, but it repeated again the next time the monitor was on for a while (although I tried to make a point of turning it off when I didnt REALLY need it on at the time). Today the buzzing started immediately when I turned the monitor on. The only good part about that is it was an instant reminded to submit an RMA claim for my Asus monitor with a 3 year "Rapid Replacement" warranty. I submitted this online, received an e-mail, but there was no mention of the advertised Rapid Replacement, or the fact that Asus advertises that they pay shipping both ways. Rapid Replacement is supposed to ship a replacement monitor as soon as the bad monitor is shipped out, so I would think around 1-3 days downtime at most. HOWEVER, apparently all Asus had to do to get out of replacing the monitor in this way is say that the model isnt currently in-stock. Do they tell you theyll ship a replacement in a few days, after they locate one, or have stock available? Nope! They immediately send you through the more tedious "repair" process, then tell you that if the monitor is deemed non-repairable, theyll then replace it with the current model or possibly a different model if they dont have the current model. So I asked how long this process would take. All I wanted to know was what the minimum and maximum amount of time that my "Rapid Replacement" warranty service would have me down for now. The rep had no response. I asked if it would at least be a maximum of 2 weeks, or a max of 1 month, or 6 months? He had no response other than to say he couldnt give me any type of maximum timeframe at all. So then I asked to speak to a supervisor, thinking surely they can put themselves in the customers shoes and understand how ridiculous of a response that was. I basically got the same run-around from the supervisor, with a few new twists. I told the supervisor, like I had told the previous rep, that I was just online looking on several different web sites and saw this exact model available on every site I went to, and none of them indicated low stock. So its not as if its discontinued or in short supply. I even said that what a company should do, and typically does from my experience, is replace the defective product with a model that is equal or better in comparison to the product the company doesnt have. I mean its not the customers fault you dont have this model in-stock, right? By the end of the call, he told me he would submit for an escalation asking for a replacement model, and that if that was approved, I MIGHT receive a replacement of equal or LESSER value. "Um, did you mean to say equal or greater value?" Nope, he confirmed, "equal or LESSER" value. Hmm, seems like a backwards way to do business, if youre trying to satisfy your customers and not make your defective products the customers problem, doesnt it? Needless to say, I will never be purchasing another Asus product again, nor will I recommend Asus to anyone. This experience was beyond sub-par, so I cant in good conscience, recommend them anymore. If some seemingly miraculous change happens with this case and the Asus gods swoop in and make this all better somehow, I will update my review. ;-) And if not, I may add a few videos to this review so you can hear the very disturbing buzz, and maybe even the ridiculous responses from support (since it was on a recorded line). UPDATE 6/15/17: Ive been meaning to submit an update and finally got around to it. Asus never called me back. The escalation must have been all talk because I never heard from anybody after that point. And when I tried calling them back, they acted as if I never called the first time, but gave me the same run around all over again, and still no call back. Wow, such a popular monitor available everywhere, and twice now Asus does not have it in stock, how convenient right? My monitor continues to buzz like its going to explode if I forget to turn it off. Sometimes it does it immediately when I turn it on. And sometimes when I turn it off to stop the loud buzzing, then turn it back on, the buzzing continues. Like others have mentioned here, I think Im switching back to Viewsonic monitors as well. As for all other components in PCs that I build, Ill be switching to anything that isnt Asus.

Ive had this monitor for a couple of months now. Overall, its OK. I bought this when the price was around $180. I havent had any issues with discoloration, leaking, or random pixels / lines that are mentioned in other reviews. However, I have experienced two issues with this monitor. Issue 1: The screen randomly goes blank and comes back to normal after a few seconds. This happens quite often. Initially I assumed it was a problem with my HDMI cable. I have tried using different HDMI cables, and connecting it to different systems, but the issue persists. This is a problem regardless of whether you use this for general work or for gaming, but especially for gaming. I reduced two stars because of this. Issue 2: This monitor is extremely wobbly. I use the stand that came with it, and it just seems unstable. You have to give it a few seconds to stabilize after using any of the buttons on the bottom right side, including the power button. This may not really be a problem, and might be fixed by using a mount and arm, but still something to consider. I wouldnt recommend this monitor unless youre getting a really good deal. I expected better for the price.

Why a One Star Rating on a monitor that is pretty awesome? Well first, the included monitor stand is wobbly, youre going to need to VESA mount this monitor otherwise when you bump the table slightly the monitors going to do the wave. But LORD HELP ME the ASUS Customer Service was GARBAGE. Long story short, upon screwing the VESA mount into the back panel of the monitor, the internal metal plates that hold the VESA mount broke and are now dangling loose inside the monitor. And no, there s no user or physical damage, it was a strait defect. It happens, no big deal. So I thought. ASUS is a huge name, with a great warranty. So I thought. First, ASUS was adamant about charging me, saying itd be up to some random tech to decide if Id be charged or not and there was nothing I can do. I get the clause to cover themselves just in case I sent in a completely busted monitor, but I explained the situation and they really didnt care. And theyre rude AF. Like all of the 7 or so people I talked to . They just didnt give a ****. First call, I couldnt talk to a manager because it was a holiday weekend (understandable). Then when I called back this morning (call # 2), they couldnt process the RMA because of a "software update" but promised to call back and theyd handle it.Took down all my info, explained terms, everything. Then at Call # 3, at 3rd level escalation, they said they "Didnt have stock, but I could send it in for repair and wait for it to be shipped back to me". This is after being promised theyd send me an RMA replacement first, and then Id ship the old one back. Side note, they refused to accept the monitor in the original package (why?!? Thats the safest way to send it back) , and they refused to reimburse any type of packaging materials that would be needed to, I dont know, send a computer monitor through the mail safely. Crazy, right? Let me just go to UPS and buy $20 worth of padding to send it back , just to have ASUS say "O you broke it, give me money". Did they have a system where they could add my case, and when a replacement was available, then theyd send it? You know, like a wait list or queue that every major company has ? NOPE. They literally advised me to check in a couple times a day to "see if they had it in stock" . The tier 3 escalations manager went so far as to say " well whatever amazon has on their site is probably wrong, this product isnt eligible for Advanced RMA replacement". I purchased 3 of these monitors, and they were a great buy. But god help you if you try to call ASUS customer service. But I do want to say that Amazon cleared this up in like under 5 minutes. Keep in mind the average wait time for ASUS was over 40 minutes.. and I had to call multiple times. Thank you Amazon. As always, youre amazing, and I wont purchase anywhere else. Screw you ASUS. At this price range, get yourself a monitor that has DisplayPort In & Out (so you dont have 3 usb-c adapters connected to my MacBook Pro like I do ) and that doesnt wobble on the included stand. Seriously. You can see in the included photos how the screw slot looks on my other 2 working monitors, and how the metal hinge fell out and is now hanging loosely by the air vent. I get manufacturing defects happen, its cool, I wanted to work with ASUS and not be a pain in the butt. But after that customer service experience, Im shopping else where and you should do the same.

Ive read a number of reviews which complained of this units instability on its stand and I have to wonder what those folks were doing to the poor thing, because its quite stable for me and I have no problems with it at all. (What *DO* you folks do to your poor monitors?) Im quite content with the actual performance of the monitor as well, and even people with older PCs can use a monitor like this, as the unit has HDMI, DP, and VGA inputs available, as well as inputs for external audio devices like an MP3 player. Its got two 2-watt speakers which are serviceable, but you can also use headphones (3.5mm jack) with it, too. Whether youre gaming (its quite good for that), watching a DVD / movie file, or even just reading e-books, youll find this monitor to be more than adequate to the purpose and priced very amicably when one considers all the features and controls it has, which are numerous indeed, yet easily accessible and easy to use. I do quite a bit of video editing as well as professional audio editing in my studio, and this unit is just perfect for what I do; I use professional audio monitors for mixing sound, and this unit is thin enough and just the right size to let me push it back far enough that I do not have audio reflection problems from the monitor sides (Google listening triangle for more info on how that works). For video editing, the resolution is ideal and makes for crisp, clean results. Of course, your mileage will vary, depending on your video processor (hopefully you dont have crappy onboard graphics). Packaging includes a 3.5mm stereo male - to - male cable, a DVI - HDMI cable, and a standard VGA cable, as well as the typical IEC power cord. Manuals and a setup guide are also included.

As the title states, it is ideally the best option for Console gaming. If youre looking for a good console gaming this is your best choice. In a lot of other pricey monitors, they have a lot of eye grabbing features such as 144hz, or Ultra Wide HD, 4k gaming; You do not need those features. Consoles will do 1080p gaming at 60 Hz on a 16:9 aspect ratio, so you can spend the extra 100-200 dollars but youll still be getting 1080p gaming at 60 Hz on a 16:9 ratio. That being said if youre a pc player this is still a solid budget gaming monitor pc but if you have the money to spare try looking for those other features for optimal gaming. The screen size is perfect in my opinion for when I want to have one of those vigorous gaming sessions or when I want to relax and watch some Netflix. Mine is currently hooked up onto a dual mount and it works fine so for those wondering yes, it does have 100 x 100 VERSA mounts. To Summarize, Excellent monitor for console gaming; a good budget monitor for PC gaming

Once it is correctly set up, it is a nice sharp full HD monitor. However, the stand is unacceptably flimsy. Just pushing the on/off switch rocks the monitor about one inch. My second gripe is that it came with a poorly printed & difficult to read quick set up guide, no manual, and no clue where to find a manual. I had difficulty getting the monitor to receive the HDMI input. In the process of trying all of the switches, I activated some demo mode text that wouldnt go away. Once I had video, I registered the warranty, and from there, into the home website, I still was unsuccessful in searching for a manual. Finally I googled it and found what I needed. With the manual, I was able to complete the set up and its a very nice monitor, except for the flimsy stand.

Purchased this monitor, worked well for the first year. After first year I now have two dead pixels. I have had a similar viewsonic monitor for 7 years now without a single dead pixel. Assuming just a quality issue. Colors on this monitor are vibrant, but hard to calibrate to look natural. Whites are almost too white. Overall I was happy with this monitor until the dead pixels. Now very frustrated.

I use this monitor as my main display every day, for many hours at a time. I use it for web-browsing and can always read everything clearly, video/series/movie watching and can see everything (including film grain and subtle digital noise) clearly, editing video and can see every detail I need to (including accurate colors) and gaming and can spot everything important as soon as its visible. Nothing about the visual quality and accuracy of this monitor is sub-par is any way. The only thing thats wrong with this device as a whole is every audio feature. The speakers are worthless and the audio that comes through the 3.5mm jack on the back sounds awful (no bass, distant). Sure, its bearable if you need speakers in a pinch, but if youre considering it for any use besides that of a visual nature, skip it. Im not subtracting any stars because its nearly perfect in every other way.

This may get a little long but bear with me :) Having never brought monitors before I spent a lot of time looking on the Internet and reading reviews. I was looking for a reasonably spec game monitor around $150. I soon realized the specs and size I was aiming for would cost more even if i included black Friday deals. After much consideration I purchased this monitor. Two months in I love how fast it responds while gaming with no ghosting. The colors out of the box are terrible and I did have to mess with the color options. I would HIGHLY suggest you review a few things: 1. While I dont know if this is still true check out the review Awesome but beware by Frank a. Hurtado about different companies making this monitor. Make this item a gift when you purchase it for easier return. 2. Check out You get what you paid for by Nick for helpful ideas on changing color options. If you hate dealing with options I would suggest you at LEAST change the skin tone to neutral (removes the ugly yellow tint people complain about) and lower the brightness. 3. Try different view modes since font quality is not great on scenery 4. There is no HDMI cable so you will need to buy one 5. Keep the box! They require you to use same box if you ever need to have it repaired. Overall I would recommend this monitor.

I have a Gigabyte Xtreme Gaming Waterforce GTX 1080 - 8GB card and I have tried many monitors, a 1080p projector, and even a 4k TV. None of these match up to the speed of this monitor. I cant stand the screen tearing or motion blurring on slower monitors/TVs. I couldnt afford a 4k monitor of this spec so I went with this after doing some research an I am glad I did. An amazing monitor. The best response time of any monitor Ive gamed with in 15 years. If youre looking for a great budget 1920x1080 monitor that can keep up with good gaming hardware look no further.
