Ill start out by saying that Ive owned this monitor for well over a year and, as of this review, its still working properly and is as clear as the day I bought it. However, I only gave this four stars simply because the height isnt adjustable. Yes, you can tilt the monitor back and forth if needed, but even all the way down, I still have to stretch my neck. So, instead of mounting it on the wall behind me, I decided to go with a cheaper solution: Put a notepad on the back part of the stand to lean the monitor forward. It works like a charm. Overall, I would recommend this product, but beware of the height. If you sit low like I do, then youre going to need to prop it forward somehow, unless you have a huge desk and you can push it all the way back. Unfortunately, thats not an option for me.

Not sure what all the hype is about this monitor. Its ok. I liked my old LG 2734 IPS LED HD Monitor much better! While the monitor looks great, there are a lot of flaws. VGA and HDMI connections are finicky. I noticed my monitor was flickering. I didnt have the VGA connection tight. This is the first monitor I ever had that needed the little knobs tightened for picture to be right. I use VGA for my work laptop. My primary interface is HDMI for home computer. Ive actually tried monitor on two home computers (lenovo and Dell). Both are new. And both would not always connect to monitor. If wiggling the connection didnt work, then Id have to unplug monitor and/or shutdown the PC and retry. I also find that it does not auto select input/source. Plus "if" the monitor goes to sleep when it should, sometimes it goes to zombie mode and never really sleeps. i.e. goes to a light up black, vs. off. If I force the monitor to sleep (or shutoff the computer), then monitor truly goes black. Also, I find that often (not rarely) that the monitor for no reason, doesnt connect with PC. maybe its coming in/out of sleep, but I have to shutdown computer for it to work. Overall, I wish I could return and buy a new LG 2734 IPS LED HD Monitor again. Id give it a 3.5 star rating, but 3 is too low, and my 4 is too high. :-( I would return, still in return period with Amazon, but I unfortunately took off UPC code for the teeny rebate, and now stuck with the monitor. I know it has a 3-year warranty, but who wants to bother with that on a new monitor. On the plus, some folks here reported that the monitor doesnt have speakers built-in. It does--at least mine does. They sound ok, but I hooked up my Bose speakers instead. UPDATE 1: I contacted Amazon customer service, explained the situation, including the rebate. They offered to let me return it for a refund. Update 2: I order this same day delivery and was here within hours! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008RM23ZI/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I love it too!!!!!!!! And the sleep function works correctly, and VGA to HDMI and back to VGA, etc. works perfectly. I love the edge to edge screen. Couldnt be more happier returning the ASUS. The only (and I mean only) thing I liked about the ASUS was built-in power adapter vs. the external power pack for the viewsonic. But I can deal with that.

I am not an ultra-technical person, by any stretch-of--the-imagination. I just like a nice big monitor, that is fast, looks nice, has great color, and is durable. So far, this monitor delivers on all of those. I have had this monitor for a little over 6 months now, and I am very happy with the quality. I have always been a big fan of Asus products, because I have always found them to be of superior quality and durability. My first entry into the 27" monitor market was a couple of years ago when I purchased my 27" Samsung monitor. That one has also served me extremely well, but the color and the speed of this Asus is definitely an improvement over my other model. My setup: I currently have my old monitor and this monitor hooked-up to my desktop (dual monitor). Yes, I am a little bit OCD and it drives me nuts that my two monitors are not the same; but I begrudgingly make-due. Side-by-side, this monitor is definitely superior. Mind you, my Samsung is a couple of years older, so this is not an indictment of Samsung, as much as it is interesting to see how far technology has come in just a couple years, in the same price point. I have seen some review complain about the base; but I think it is plenty sturdy if you put it together properly. I have had no problem with any pixelization, or other technical issues, and I have been entirely pleased with this purchase and highly recommend. I work from home as a Technical Writer, so I use my monitors a lot during the day. At night, I play a lot of PC games with friends and family. So my monitor is on nearly all day, and only off when I sleep. I have experienced no issues or degradation in the hundreds of hours that this monitor has been used thus far. Lastly, I am thoroughly impressed with the viewing angle, and the way that it works in the daylight hours. Other monitors I have used have a terrible glare which forces you to turn the monitor to avoid any sunlight, at all costs! I dont have the same issue with this monitor.

Bought this monitor and a similar Samsung 27-inch monitor. For how I use the monitors (to edit books, surf, and watch movies), the picture on the Samsung is much better, and the controls on the Samsung are FAR more intuitive. This ASUS monitors controls are all available along the bottom-right of the screen, and it takes some kind of magic to make them work. Theres a weird half-screen test mode that lets you see if you like a particular setting, but it gets stuck on. ASUS documentation and customer service were no help. (Thank you to the stranger online who had figured out how to solve the issue and posted the fix, step by step.) I purchased this monitor with a promised $20 rebate that made the price comparable to that of the Samsung. The ASUS monitor showed up in a box that did not have the bar codes requested in the rebate info. I tried contacting ASUS customer service by email and phone to find out what to do. No response. So I submitted the rebate with every shred of info that WAS on the box. A month later, ASUS denied my rebate request, by email. I replied to that email with an explanation and request for help. There was back and forth, quite a lot of rudeness from "customer service," and finally, after six weeks, a flat-out denial. The ASUS warranty is supposed to be three years, but if theres no one out there to actually handle the warranty, what good is it? I like to give different companies a chance, but ASUS has done a good job of running me off on the first try. The happy news is that Amazon stood up as always and gave me an account credit to make up for the rebate that never happened. Hooray for Amazon, boooooooooo for ASUS!

I was looking for a monitor that would be good for gaming and good for photo editing. I am not a hardcore gamer and am not too worried about lag, but I wanted to avoid it as much as possible. After purchasing and testing it out I have decided this is not for me. I wasnt sure how much I would like a 27" monitor compared to a 24", but I thought bigger might be better. Unfortunately I have this mount next to my couch so I can play games while my wife watches movies and I must keep it at maximum distance from me for comfortable viewing (far enough that you cant touch it). Something I had read reviews about was the issue with resolution on a 27" screen. They are right. My wife will not use this for photo editing, because of this. Her 15" XPS laptop has a much better screen. Of course after playing on it for a few weeks I have no complaints, but I also dont notice pixels when Im playing a FPS. Also I have been playing on an LG 60 LED smart TV that has been amazing and this is better in terms of color reproduction, but the TV has a better resolution making everything smoother and slightly less grainy. Pros: 1ms = no noticeable ghosting, vesa mounts and only 7lbs = easily mountable, automatically power on and off, great controls and ability to change color selection. Cons: Poor resolution up close and still not fantastic far away, to turn up volume you must first hit the down button(minor nuisance). Overall this is a great monitor for those less picky people who dont notice pixels and that want something fast, but for someone with a good eye and also someone wanting to do photo editing, I wouldnt recommend.

I upgraded from a 21.5 monitor, which, coincidentally is on the same item page as the 27 inch monitor i got a couple years ago on best buy. The 21.5 inch had 1 dead pixel stuck green colored, however, the 27 inch monitor arrived with no imperfections. The box was slightly damaged, but not enough to harm the item inside. Im mainly using this for movies, but i do occasionally game. I played Elite Dangerous on this screen and it was absolutely beautiful. If they ever make a 4k version of this exact monitor, i will definitely upgrade.

Im not a gamer, so cant speak to that, bit I work in IT/Software support and bought these to setup my home office. My home office is now more functional than my space at work. I bought three of these. I love all the available input options. Vga, 2 hdmi, and a display port. I have two laptop docking stations and use two computers (personal and work) sharing the three screens. I have them mounted on an arm. Side by side and it takes up six feet in length to support the screen real estate

I ordered this because I was frustrated with the Samsung U28D590D 4K monitor I had recently received. Not because its a bad display, but because it refuses to work correctly with DPMS (power management) and Samsung customer support is lacking. Instead I returned this ASUS monitor the same day I received it because the picture quality was very poor compared to every other monitor I use. At work I use at least five different 24" Dell monitors every day. For the last seven years Ive used a 24" iMac at home. I just recently built a new computer and got the Samsung 4K monitor. All of them have far superior picture quality to this ASUS monitor. I even have a 10+ year old Dell FPW2005 I use for my surveillance system and it has better picture. I have to assume I got a bad copy because on the average this monitor gets very good reviews from a very large number of people. Viewing angle was also very limited. FWIW, my definition of very poor picture quality in this case was washed out colors, brightness and contrast levels that could not be adjusted to a point to give reasonable picture, and general graininess of the screen. The built quality of the monitor seemed good. I liked how the stand worked. Unforunately, despite havine VESA compatible holes for mounting, all of the inputs come straight out of the back and will present a challenge for mounting very close to the wall. It DOES have internal speakers but I dont believe my video card puts audio out over displayport. I hooked up the included audio cable and they worked but they sounded pretty bad compared to the old speakers I have on my desk so I wouldnt have used them.

I was hoping to upgrade from an old monitor that is having power issues, but buying this one was a bad idea. Blacks are nowhere near black The display was permeated with a sickening yellow tinge that I couldnt get rid of no matter what I tried. I even went as far as swapping out several different HDMI cables. I dont know what the deal is, but I couldnt read anything on it for more than a few minutes without feeling sick. Text was still impossible to read without nausea even after tweaking ClearType settings for a half hour. Sending it back.

After less than a day of use I noticed a low buzz from both audio jacks, no matter what cord was used. This was a replacement for the same monitor having the same issue. I opted for a full refund after first trying n exchange. I will not purchase another Asus display and I obviously dont recommend this one. Thankfully the return and exchange process is easy peasy with Amazon.
