Go to your NVIDIA control panel, and click on "Change resolution" under Display. Scroll down, click on "Output dynamic range" and set it to full. Ive included a picture for help with this. It should fixed colors that look washed out, without having to modify any color settings. If you already made some, I suggest you factory reset your monitor (in the menus) as it will look strange after doing this. Other than that problem, this monitor looks great! Also, you shouldnt have to worry if youre using DVI.

This monitor was GREAT, at first. I have owned this monitor for about 10 months at this point, and I originally purchased 3 of them... In the last week, I have had pixels constantly going dead on me, on ALL of the monitors. I believe I am still within my warranty, and will try and get a swap. I will update my review as things progress.

I Love it! (Pictures included) Purchased on 5/31, Arrived 6/09. (9 Days) was free shipping over $49. -Box arrived undamaged. Upon opening the box, it had all components. Nicely individually wrapped. It included -Stand -Monitor -Power cable -DVI cable -VGA cable -ASUS VIP Member Notice -Quick Start Guide. After taking everything out of the box it was EXTREMELY easy to assemble. I cant stress that enough, a 12 year old could figure it out. The cords had caps on them to prevent dust and bending of the pins but again were simple to take off. On the back of the monitor, it had -HDMI port -DVI port -VGA port -3.5mm audio port. (Needs input from HDMI cable) After putting it all together, the final product was beautiful. -It worked perfectly! -There were no dead pixels. -The colors were vibrant. -The images and letters were sharp. -The picture is just amazing. -The quality is outstanding. It was just perfect. I LOVE this product and Im 100% completely satisfied with my purchase. I did not receive a discount for my review either. I would DEFINITELY recommend. UPDATE: Its been a month since I purchased it and still had no problems with it.

I bought a pair of these to use with my 21.5" 2012 iMac, which Apple in their infinite wisdom, opted not to make matching lightning display for. These are a near perfect match in terms of color, pixel density, resolution and size.

For a monitor of this size, 100 bucks was not a bad deal. The picture quality is very good for everyday tasks like internet, spreadsheets, etc. One thing I really dont like is that the monitor is very wobbly. When I am typing it picks up the vibrations from my keyboard and desk, and the entire monitor makes a slight shaking motion. That will take some getting used to. The monitor is simply too wide for the stand that it comes with. Unfortunately this seems to be a common problem with monitors of this size, as I have noticed the same thing with other models. I purchased 2 of these since I work from home, so I wanted one for my work computer and a separate monitor for my home computer. I have the 2 monitors side by side and one is noticeably higher than the other by about 1/2 inch. I have tried adjusting the monitor every which way but to no avail. This just looks a bit awkward when you have them side by side.

This is my first time having a tri-monitor setup. Ive encountered this issue with ALL of all of these monitors. I bought two of these monitors (using a different one for my third), and had to returned one to Amazon within a month because it was black screened. I thought it was a faulty monitor. Come to find out I am experiencing the same problem I had with the first monitor, with both monitors now, only months later outside of the return window for Amazon. So, I contacted ASUS support and the representative helping me wasnt surprised by my issue (doesnt seem to be a new one either). He told me essentially too much electricity is being built up in the monitor and it needs to reset. The idle light will be on for the monitor, but the menu button doesnt work. It will power up and down fine, but afterwards the screen will go black and the green light will turn amber for it going in idle mode. It doesnt matter if I switch any of the cords/outlets--Ive tried it all. I am forced to unplug my HDMI and power cable and reset my monitor with the power button (holding it down for 60 seconds). This is the most frustrating and disappointing thing ever. It started happening multiple times a week. So Ive resorted to physically unplugging my monitors when I put my computer to sleep now. An unnecessary hassle I shouldnt have to be doing. Display-wise... when everything else is working I have no complaints. Theyre light-weight and seem study.

UPDATE: I got 2 of the VP228H (21.5 inch) model from B&H for the same price and they are working much better than this model. That model is similar to this one with just a couple of differences. I have no problem with the screen flashing to black and there are also a few more features included. I have owned 2 of these 24 inch monitors for a few years and they have been great (5 stars). I bought (2) 21.5 inch monitors now (same model) for someone elses setup and I have had nothing but problems with them. Tried several different HDMI cables, but every time the computer is turned on, it takes forever for the video signal to sync to the 2 monitors. The monitors will show a video signal and then keep flashing to black several times and it just has trouble getting the video signal stable. This can put strain on the graphics card and its not good. After the screens flash to black several times, the signal finally is stable, but sometimes when using them there are occasional glitches on the screen. This creates a huge delay when using the computer because every time the computer goes idle and you come back you have to wait forever for the monitors to turn on and stabilize the signal. I even tried just hooking each monitor up separately to test and they both had the same problem even when not hooked as a pair. When I plug their computer into the same model monitors I have but bigger (24 inches) there is no problem. I plugged their computer into some older ASUS monitors I have and no problem either. So my guess is that these (2) 21.5 inch monitors have a defect (or bad batch) so I am returning them. Just leaving this review in case someone else has the same flashing to black (or flickering to black) problem.

In addition to the monitor, the package included a 6 VGA cable and a 6 DVI cable, which I hadnt expected. It seems like most manufacturers these days sell you electronics but then expect you to go buy the necessary cables - however, the Asus monitor came with these. It does not include an HDMI cable, but I already have a couple of spare. Since I wasnt expecting the VGA cable, I separately bought one of those for use with my older corporate laptop. The stand is extremely simple to install. I especially like the "no tools" screw, which has a small flip-up flat piece that allows you to tighten the screw entirely by hand. The monitor adjusts to between about -5 degrees forward tilt (if you wanted to put it up on a shelf above eye level) to about 10 degrees backwards tilt (for a tall person with a monitor on a low desk. No significant color/brightness issues. It is easily viewable with only slight color fading at up to about 30 degrees off-angle. Picture quality is excellent - no appreciable lags or artifacts in videos and resolution with a 10 Megapixal camera image was sharp and clear. As soon as I connected the VGA cable and turned on the monitor, it appeared, automatically synced and adjusted to my laptop display resolution. All I had to do was tell Windows how I wanted the monitors arranged (extend desktop and put second monitor to left of primary laptop). Setup took less than 10 minutes, including unpacking, installing base, plugging in and configuring Windows. The default setup is quite bright, but I found that their "sRGB" mode produced a very nice level of brightness. There are several "standard" modes of display - "theater", "game", "scenery", and "night mode" in addition to the "sRGB". Each has a slightly different brightness and contrast mix. You should be able to find one that you like from the standard list, or you can fine-tune the display through individual controls. Update - well - one flaw. The power cord is only 5 feet long, which doesnt quite reach my power bar, so now I need to buy a 6 foot cord. So close, but not quite there... Update - from a question that was posted. While the monitor comes with two connector cables, you should only connect ONE type of cable between a computer and a monitor (any computer and any monitor - not just this one). Either use an HDMI cable (not included) OR the DVI cable OR the VGA cable. Do not connect both the DVI and VGA cables between the same computer and the monitor. If your computer has only a VGA connector (common on older and laptop computers), then if you want to get audio you will need to separately purchase a "VGA with audio to HDMI" adapter cable. This cable will have a VGA connector and a loose "pigtail" wire with a 3.5mm audio jack on one end, and an HDMI connector on the other end. Plug the VGA connector into your computer, plug the 3.5mm audio jack into your computers headphones output receptacle, and plug the HDMI connector into the back of the monitor and you should be able to get audio output to the monitor.

Ive had the original Good version since 2013 when they came out, and as you can see in the pictures, the Bad model is much more yellow and less blue than the original. Ive filed for a replacement with hopefully a good model and will update the review to five stars if I happen to get that one instead. Having used the original since they came out I will say though that if you do get the good version its a fantastic monitor, its not too overbearing on the eyes and colors are mostly true with a little change here and there on the monitor and maybe your graphics card. I love this monitor when its the good one, and I didnt realize how poorly washed out the bad version was until I got mine in the mail today. Also the height difference doesnt matter that much to me but the bad version feels much less sturdy at the base. Ill update when I get the replacement monitor and hopefully bump this up to five stars, but for now its a solid 4 based on the original monitor and a 3 on the 2015 model. Again: Left is the Good version, right is the bad version. Its much more apparent in person as well.

ASUS offered rebates in the past but will find fault if they can with the paper work f they can. I have bought three of these monitors for my business just this year alone. First monitor rebate was denied because they didnt like the Amazon invoice so it was recent then again denied. The a second monitor I requested rebate on was approved however I did receive the Email approval and here it is 4 moths later no rebate. The third monitor I purchased I needed but I gave up on their rebate procedure and wont be buying from them again. Their rebate in my opinion is a scam although the monitors worked well!
