I attempted to be content with a similar monitor that was over 100 dollars cheaper than this one and I had to deal with some pretty awful image ghosting as well as the hassle of repackaging and getting it shipped back. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra bit to get something that you actually want. I have been very happy with the picture quality while doing simple editing for music production and for viewing videos (TV shows, music videos such as Carpenter Brut - Turbo Killer). I use the DisplayPort functionality that this monitor offers without issue.

I got my display today. It has a single dead pixel (only the red part) which is unnoticeable unless you are looking at a red screen. Asus has a 7 day warranty that covers any dead pixels but Im just going to keep it as I havent noticed it when in actual use. The picture quality is excellent, glare reduction is great without sacrificing picture quality. If you dont want to get into the price range of the 2560x1440 displays this is the one to get. Pivot function is great while coding and on websites like Reddit or news sites. Asus uses really good panels and have excellent build quality. You may need to tweak the color settings to your liking but once youve done that youll love the monitor. It has low GTG for gaming, great viewing angels, and a super thin bezel if youre hooking up more than one for a Eyefinity or similar desktop.

I have 3 of these (2 I bought earlier in the year and then this one recently). Not super duper technical nerdy type, but they seem to work just fine for me! I would however recommend if youre going to have more than 1, make sure youre able to use all the same type of connector. At first was using this one with a mixture of DVI, HDMI > DVI because I didnt realize my card had a 3rd DisplayPort on it (doh!). And for the life of me I couldnt get it to look the same as the other 2, let alone as good (at least IMO) as them. Then I realized the 3rd DP was hiding and wasnt an HDMI like I thought, hooked it up and VOILA!

There is barely any information available for this monitor on the internet, and as a result, I was hesitant to purchase it. It seemed to have all the features I was looking for, though, so I took the plunge and ordered one. Let me tell you, I am quite pleased with my purchase. Also, my true rating for this monitor would be 4.5 stars, but that isnt an option on Amazon, so I had to go with 4 stars. Pros: 1. Gorgeous, vibrant colors after toying around with the settings. The out of the box settings are somewhat lacking, but this is easily fixed by adjusting "Digital Vibrance" in the NVIDIA control panel if you are using an NVIDIA graphics card, as well as using the monitors built in "Scenery Mode". 2. 23.8 inch screen length provides a nice amount of workspace. 3. Faster than usual response time for an IPS monitor at 5ms, making it a suitable contender for a gaming monitor, if you are not looking for 144hz. 4. Has built in speakers (The sound quality of built in speakers on a monitor is, of course, low tier, but this may be a nice boon for those who are unable to afford speakers at the time of purchase). If you wish to use the built-in speakers, you may have to go to the control panel, then go to the "Sound" section, and then set the monitor as the default audio device. Cons: 1. Monitor can be somewhat wobbly. This is mostly only noticeable when adjusting the monitors position, or when pressing its buttons. It doesnt really wobble during conventional usage. 2. The product name has "DVI-D" listed in it, but the monitor does not actually have a DVI-D port. It only has VGA, DisplayPort, and HDMI ports. I purchased it expecting to be able to use a DVI-D cable with it, but was not able to. Thankfully, my graphics card supported HDMI, so I was able to excuse that. 3. The monitors height cannot be adjusted. It can only be tilted forward and backward in order to change the viewing angle. 4. Has a slight bit of IPS glow. This is only really noticeable when watching a movie, or when in a dark location in a game. Know, however, that it is not significant enough (in my opinion) to hamper a movie watching / gaming experience.

I have never before encountered a screen that did not have embedded nuts for VESA mounting (it has markings for where you can embed screws, but doesnt include them, and you must make your own holes). Comes with 5 cables, but none are HDMI to HDMI, and I find it odd anyone buying an HDMI monitor specifically would want any of those other cords instead. Color of the screen was very yellow compared to my ViewSonic and HP, even with all the tweaks I could find.

Great monitor. My main reason for the purchase was that I work a lot with pdf documents, and I write a lot, using Word. I have 3 monitors at work (2 at home) and all were "landscape-only", so if I displayed a full page, it was too small to be easily legible (because the page size was limited by the height of the monitor). I was constantly having to zoom in to part of a page in order to easily read the text (especially using Acrobat). With this, I can rotate it to portrait mode, greatly increasing the height of a displayed page, so I can show an entire page on-screen at a size that makes everything easily legible. As the review headline says -- I bought one for work and was so impressed that, a week later, I bought one for home.

2 out of 3 monitors are great. One has a single bright pixel in the lower right hand quadrant of the screen that wont go away. Asus will only replace a monitor if 3 of these show up. So far SquareTrade is requesting I take the unit into a local shop to get it fixed. Spare parts are not sold for these monitors. Stay tuned..

It is an awesome display! 27" bright, great colors, indeed a pleasure to use. OK user interface. The display position is fully adjustable, not only tilt, but also up and down! Thats important so you can adjust the middle of the display to be at or about your eyes level. There were customers comments on Amazon saying that this displays position cannot be adjusted vertically, but I found out this to be wrong. It actually does adjust vertically very well and with high accuracy.I am using the digital port on the display and the headphones picked up on the display itself and this works great. The display is connected to a brand new Dell XPS tower desktop PC running Windows 10. You get an excellent display at a great price.

Cons: 1. Out of the box the monitor calibration was overly bright. 2. Out of the box the monitor screen text was jagged and excessively sharp. 3. The power LED on the bottom right of the monitor is white and can be mildly distracting in a dark room. Pros: 1. Fairly inexpensive for a 27" 1080P monitor. 2. Monitor stand is adjustable. 3. Inputs are up to date with modern technology, i.e, display port. 4. Extremely thin bezel; great for side-by-side monitors. As for the cons with the excessively sharp and jagged screen text, I was nearly ready to return the monitor as it was simply too distracting. However, after manually configuring the settings, I was able to dramatically change the screen to the point of becoming pleasant and soothing. Here are the settings I ended up with: Splendid Mode: Standard Mode Blue Light Filter: Level 0 Color: - Brightness 22, - Contrast 90, - Color Mode: User > R, G, & B at 100 Image: Vivid Pixel at 0 (changing to zero is key to the final calibration) I use this monitor as a secondary monitor, where my primary monitor is an ASUS VG278HE 27" Full HD 1920x1080 144Hz 2ms HDMI DVI-D VGA Ergonomic Back-lit LED Gaming Monitor which is a considerably better model than this ASUS VN279QL 27" model. When they sit side by side, the VN279QL (this monitor), the VG278HE is clearly superior with much better blacks and overall higher quality in every respect. Due to the differences in monitors, I probably noticed more deficiencies in the VM279QL (this monitor); however, after changing the settings as described above, the color tones and text smoothing have been sorted out.

Pros 0.31 dot pitch good for elderly users with bad eye sight. No backlight leakage. Nice bright colors. Its a bit on the cold side out of the box, tweak-able with monitor controls. No noticeable flickering from PWM. (Parents have sensitive eyes) Very slim bezels.. Looks very modern. CONS: Bad quality control. (Read explanation below) Tinny sounding speakers. Volume output is really low. No USB ports. Semi-hidden screen controls are not very easy to use. No DVI port. I tried getting two of these monitors for my elderly parents. Both of them have do not have the best eye sight anymore. The larger dot pitch is perfect for them. Unfortunately, I was only able to keep 1 good monitor. The first monitor ordered was perfect, no backlight leakage, no dead/sub-dead pixels, no dust spots. Attempts to secure a second monitor was unsuccessful. 2 subsequent monitors ordered both had problems with sub-dead pixels and multiple dust spots in the LCD panel. Amazon stated that ASUS policy states that up to 5 sub-dead pixels were within their allowed limit. I was refused a 3rd monitor. Great monitor, but watch out for quality control problems.
