For its price (which was 236 for me), this is a really neat display. Its slim bezel, and VESA mount makes it a good choice for multiple display. Something worth noting is that this monitor utilizes AMVA+ panel instead of the more common AH IPS panel for monitors with wide viewing angles. Comparing to the IPS in similar price range I owned, it has darker and more uniform black (whereas many cheap IPS monitor has bleeding issue), but the color distortion from different viewing angle is more visible. If you are more tolerant to bland color than to bleeding, you should choose AMVA panel monitors like this one. (On the other hand, if you tolerant neither, you should go for a more expensive IPS) It has HDMI, DP and VGA port, and comes with VGA, DP and a DVI-HDMI conversion cable. It is a bit weird as to me for not including an HDMI cable.

Pros: -Very bright -Colours are vivid and pop when calibrated right. -Stand comes with full range of ergonomics (yay, no more stacking books underneath). -VERY thin bezels -Supports multiple input sources -Minimal backlight bleed, no dead pixels Cons: -Not sure if its just my monitor but there is some slight yet noticeable pixel ghosting in games. Subjects behind a light background tend to leave a blurry outline trail in motion. Turning the "Trace Free" option in the monitors settings sloves the issues, however, it adds a CRAP ton of motion blur into the equation. -Out of the box the Display Port didnt work. Tried all 3 display ports on my gtx 970, but no signal recognized, Googled the problem, apparently the monitor needs to be fully discharged of all electricity, so I unplugged it for ~20mins. No problems since. Other thoughts: Monitor is great buy for the price, especially with all the ergonomic adjustments included, however if I had to choose another one again, Id probably go for a 1440p display. If youre like me, and have a 24" monitor before, if you really squint you can see the pixels a little at the same distance. Pushing the monitor back solves this. I believe at 27", 1440p is the more optimal resolution.

There is barely any information available for this monitor on the internet, and as a result, I was hesitant to purchase it. It seemed to have all the features I was looking for, though, so I took the plunge and ordered one. Let me tell you, I am quite pleased with my purchase. Also, my true rating for this monitor would be 4.5 stars, but that isnt an option on Amazon, so I had to go with 4 stars. Pros: 1. Gorgeous, vibrant colors after toying around with the settings. The out of the box settings are somewhat lacking, but this is easily fixed by adjusting "Digital Vibrance" in the NVIDIA control panel if you are using an NVIDIA graphics card, as well as using the monitors built in "Scenery Mode". 2. 23.8 inch screen length provides a nice amount of workspace. 3. Faster than usual response time for an IPS monitor at 5ms, making it a suitable contender for a gaming monitor, if you are not looking for 144hz. 4. Has built in speakers (The sound quality of built in speakers on a monitor is, of course, low tier, but this may be a nice boon for those who are unable to afford speakers at the time of purchase). If you wish to use the built-in speakers, you may have to go to the control panel, then go to the "Sound" section, and then set the monitor as the default audio device. Cons: 1. Monitor can be somewhat wobbly. This is mostly only noticeable when adjusting the monitors position, or when pressing its buttons. It doesnt really wobble during conventional usage. 2. The product name has "DVI-D" listed in it, but the monitor does not actually have a DVI-D port. It only has VGA, DisplayPort, and HDMI ports. I purchased it expecting to be able to use a DVI-D cable with it, but was not able to. Thankfully, my graphics card supported HDMI, so I was able to excuse that. 3. The monitors height cannot be adjusted. It can only be tilted forward and backward in order to change the viewing angle. 4. Has a slight bit of IPS glow. This is only really noticeable when watching a movie, or when in a dark location in a game. Know, however, that it is not significant enough (in my opinion) to hamper a movie watching / gaming experience.

Cons: 1. Out of the box the monitor calibration was overly bright. 2. Out of the box the monitor screen text was jagged and excessively sharp. 3. The power LED on the bottom right of the monitor is white and can be mildly distracting in a dark room. Pros: 1. Fairly inexpensive for a 27" 1080P monitor. 2. Monitor stand is adjustable. 3. Inputs are up to date with modern technology, i.e, display port. 4. Extremely thin bezel; great for side-by-side monitors. As for the cons with the excessively sharp and jagged screen text, I was nearly ready to return the monitor as it was simply too distracting. However, after manually configuring the settings, I was able to dramatically change the screen to the point of becoming pleasant and soothing. Here are the settings I ended up with: Splendid Mode: Standard Mode Blue Light Filter: Level 0 Color: - Brightness 22, - Contrast 90, - Color Mode: User > R, G, & B at 100 Image: Vivid Pixel at 0 (changing to zero is key to the final calibration) I use this monitor as a secondary monitor, where my primary monitor is an ASUS VG278HE 27" Full HD 1920x1080 144Hz 2ms HDMI DVI-D VGA Ergonomic Back-lit LED Gaming Monitor which is a considerably better model than this ASUS VN279QL 27" model. When they sit side by side, the VN279QL (this monitor), the VG278HE is clearly superior with much better blacks and overall higher quality in every respect. Due to the differences in monitors, I probably noticed more deficiencies in the VM279QL (this monitor); however, after changing the settings as described above, the color tones and text smoothing have been sorted out.

Pros 0.31 dot pitch good for elderly users with bad eye sight. No backlight leakage. Nice bright colors. Its a bit on the cold side out of the box, tweak-able with monitor controls. No noticeable flickering from PWM. (Parents have sensitive eyes) Very slim bezels.. Looks very modern. CONS: Bad quality control. (Read explanation below) Tinny sounding speakers. Volume output is really low. No USB ports. Semi-hidden screen controls are not very easy to use. No DVI port. I tried getting two of these monitors for my elderly parents. Both of them have do not have the best eye sight anymore. The larger dot pitch is perfect for them. Unfortunately, I was only able to keep 1 good monitor. The first monitor ordered was perfect, no backlight leakage, no dead/sub-dead pixels, no dust spots. Attempts to secure a second monitor was unsuccessful. 2 subsequent monitors ordered both had problems with sub-dead pixels and multiple dust spots in the LCD panel. Amazon stated that ASUS policy states that up to 5 sub-dead pixels were within their allowed limit. I was refused a 3rd monitor. Great monitor, but watch out for quality control problems.
