I had high Hopes for this monitor. Was going to retire my main monitor (asus xg27vq) and use as my second monitor but when I unboxed this monitor and turned it on the screen hurt my eyes. I spent 3 hours trying to calibrate/change settings and the text of everything was very blurry and gave me a migraine. Either the specific monitor I got was a dud with a bad panel or the monitor like itself is just awful. After those 3 hours of trying to troubleshoot my eyes actually felt like they were bleeding. Before anyone says/thinks this thought: yes I changed the refresh rate in windows and GPU software running on recommended resolution and refresh rate.

Ive had this monitor for about a week now and its a very nice monitor the colors are great, no dead pixels, Ive been playing Doom4, The Witcher3, Divinity Original Sin 2, In Doom FPS in the 120s, and Im running it with an MSI R9 390 with no problems, I do still miss my LG 29" 2560x1080 75Hz widescreen with freesync too bad it only lasted 2yrs then just started smokin and burnt out, But this Asus monitor is a great replacement the colors are great. also great for photoshop. Overall its great monitor. only time will tell, but it does have 3yr warranty.

Its a good monitor for the price.. coming from a 2k monitor I wasnt too impressed at 1080. I ended up returning for the more expensive 2K version with gysnc. I dont regret it. If your coming from a 1080 to this its worth it.. if you already have a 2K then Id suggest looking for another 2k. 27inch in my opinion is too big for 1080 at close range.

Since I am getting a new rig, I decided I wanted a new monitor. This one was listed as one of the best on rtings, so I went for it, especially after it going on sale. First one I ordered had a dead pixel right in the middle of the screen. No way to overlook it. I tried flashing the screen but to no avail. I ordered a replacement and the second one was even worse. A dead pixel in the same exact area, plus damage to the screen in the corner. A cluster of dead pixels there, plus the screen itself was loose. Im done with this monitor and will be looking for another brand. Im very disappointed in Asus. Chances are I will look at a Samsung, or give up on a new monitor all together. I hate dealing with stuff like this.

Great monitor for sure. I have a gtx 970 so I cannot check if it is gsync compatible or not as it is not on the list. But the counterpart VG278Q is gsync compatible so it might be? Not too sure. Someone who has a 10x series will have to review that part. Remember that this is an IPS monitor so you will definitely get better picture quality, but at the cost of the IPS glow. Yes, IPS monitors will always have the IPS glow, if you cannot handle that just get the 278Q it is $30 cheaper. I got used to the IPS glow after a while but I love my colors since I watch movies and do other things on my computer rather than just game. Also, make sure to change the monitor brightness to your liking, it is extremely bright at 100% on the FPS mode. Once in a while for specific games get tearing here and there, but that’s probably due to my gpu and cpu not being able to use the free sync/adaptive sync that it comes with. My CPU is also super weak and upgrading soon. However, if you’re looking for an IPS monitor that pairs with 1080p and not 1440p this is the ONLY monitor currently that carries it with 144hz from what I know. I didn’t get an light leak but if you do try to get a return and swap it out. If it doesn’t work for you definitely get the 278Q. I also went from a 22” 60hz to 27” 144hz, so MY opinion on it might be different from yours. Edit: G-Sync is compatible. Also, if you get screen tearing, make sure under nvidia control panel you switch the panel to 144hz, it will default to 60hz. Also use a display port vs the DVI they provide. I still got A bit of tearing the the DVI. The dp helped a lot on that. Good luck!

so far the monitor has been a great upgrade from my 24 inch 1080p 60hz IPS dell panel. The dell panel had amazing calibration out of the box which i think asus can go a better job at, but so far its been running my fps games with no hiccups 99% of the time. I do sometimes see some vertical fragmentation for a millisecond but only when it is changing or loading a map or new game mode. So far i love it and the build quality and stand are at least on dells level. Also i dont mind the joystick menu navigation on the side/back of the monitor. The freesync feature works perfectly with the nvidia card and the colors are great because its using an ips panel.

Ive been a gamer for many years, but I dont play competitive PC games as much as I used to. This IPS panel meets all of my requirements: Great picture, high refresh rate, a good native resolution for high FPS without needing an absolute beast PC. The speakers are the only weakness, but I would only ever consider using built-in speakers as a temporary backup. The frame doesnt feel too plasticky and it doesnt look bad. The physical buttons seemed a little awkward at first, but I got used to them fairly quickly. The options on the OSD menus provide more than enough settings for me. I doubt Ill ever need the "GamePlus" features. The only complaint I have is small: I prefer to have the monitor completely unpowered when my computer is off. I can do this using my UPS set to "green" mode and then plugging the monitor into the "green" outIet. Heres the problem: The monitor does not "wake-up" out of low-power mode until the computer reaches the OS login screen. My older monitors dont have this problem. I can live with this and it doesnt change my opinion of the monitor, but it is enough of a hassle (such as when I need to boot into the BIOS settings) that I no longer use this monitor in the "green" outlet. Quality control: The first monitor I received had an issue of horizontal artifacts appearing randomly. This reminded me of the screen noise you might see when a power tool or vacuum cleaner is plugged into the same circuit; at least on older televisions. Amazon support was fast and professional with the handling of the return and refund. Other: When I wanted to reorder this monitor (I liked what I saw, defect aside), it was only available from 3rd-party sellers. The monitor wasnt shipped in an additional shipping box like the first order which was sold and fulfilled by Amazon. The second monitor didnt survive whatever nightmare FedEx put it through. The box had holes in it and the panel was smashed. I returned it immediately for a refund. Maybe an additional shipping box would have given the monitor enough added protection. My *third* attempt to order this monitor through the Amazon site (direct from Amazon or 3rd party seller) was fruitless. it was unavailable directly from Amazon, the net cost had gone up by at least $60 from 3rd party sellers, and none of the sellers I contacted said they provide additional shipping protection. My third attempt to buy this monitor ended up being from my local Frys which cost the same as my first order. I ordered it for in-store pickup the next day. There have been no problems with this one and Im very happy with it! After a few days, ended up using the following settings for day-to-day work/gaming:: [First reset to defaults] GameVisual: FPS Mode, Brightness 23, Contrast: 80, Saturation: 38, Color Temp: User Mode: R94, G93, B100.

This display offers FreeSync alongside a 144hz refresh rate. It also boasts a 1ms response time, which will be perfect for competitive gaming. After the initial unboxing, it was a nice surprise to discover how streamlined the monitor was to set up, both physically and in reference to the first-time setup. No screws are necessary as the stand supports the monitor with sizable pegs on two sides, which can be inserted into openings on the monitors preinstalled mounting casing. The display can output a bright image with a bright backlight, but the sRGB Mode is restricted to about half of the backlight brightness of the other modes. The speakers on this monitor are without a doubt, terrible. Stereotypically tinny and lacking any bass or depth. Most users will use headphones regardless, so this usually is a non-issue. As for the accuracy, response, and overall usage, this is nearly perfect with slim bezels and a large display. Its hard to go wrong with this display.

I currently back to using my old Samsung S24D300 that is now 7 years old since I got it with no problems. That being said.... This product comes in a BIG BOX. Immediately in games you notice people and are able to see people in games like APEX LEGENDS from further away and aim better thanks to the bigger images. It can run up to 144HZ @ 1080P and AMD Freesync. The colors are bright and immersive and the response time is as good as you can expect. It includes different presets for different types of games (though I liked only the default and RPG presets as FPS blurs and lowers contrast for FPS). It also comes with a built in FPS Counter that can be adjusted to where ever on the screen, and a cursor for games that do not have them; though I find features like this unfair to other players without them. It comes with a stand that can easily be lifted up so you can stay at the center of the screen or pivot if you are into more professional programs. BIG CON: My only issue with this product is....I had to return it. From when I got it out the box; I had constant screen tearing; less noticeable when watching videos or playing games; but very annoying on anything else (Remember old TVs without a good signal?) it did improve a bit by raising my refresh rate from 60 to 100; but it was just annoying; in other words this is the first defective part I got in a while. I have stuck with mostly Samsung products for years because I never had any of them fail on me or display issues like dead pixels, etc. From reading the reviews it seems I am not the only one with this problem. ASUS should have better quality control on their product lines. I will attempt to purchase the same or similar monitor in a few weeks but if the next one has issues I will be going with another brand. All in all, if it actually worked as intended, I am sure I would stick with it for years until 4K or VR is more mainstream.

Overall, I am satisfied with this monitor. Right away it felt like it wasnt as crisp as my Asus VG24 IPS. But I guess thats expected as both monitors are 1080p but this one is 27 instead of 24 inches. I can tell how the 144 Hz refresh makes a difference. I dont 144 with Display Port for some reason; just DVI (didnt try HDMI). Im using Ubuntu Linux with a ASUS GeForce GTX 1660 Ti. Mine has some minor backlight bleeding which seems to be related to a slight bowing of the vertical bezel on the right side. Applying some pressure to this bow actually temporarily resolves the bleeding. That seems to me a manufacturing issue. My VG24 had a big bezel comparatively. Personally, I dont think a small bezel is worth that kind of downside. For days I kept testing total black images to see if it really bothered me enough to RMA. Ultimately, it didnt bother me enough to play RMA charades. My next monitor probably wont be an ASUS or I will have to consider what tech looks as nice or nicer than an IPS.
