Brightness/Contrast - wow, its greats for the movies and games that you might enjoy the contrast and brightness ratios that it offers. Stand - pivots and rotates for those who like the option to flip their screen 144 HZ - Amazing for gaming and you need some decent gpu setup to even make use of the 144 hz. Its only the downside, but you can always pickup a cheaper 60 hz monitor. Sound - Not too many monitors do the whole integrated speakers too often, which works great for consoles that you plug into the monitor and it has a headphone so you dont bother others. 3d support - Granted it works should you have the right 3d glasses to work for games and movies, but it when it does; its great. Settings - take a bit of time to adjust the screen, so it doesnt bother your eyes that much. Just wished you could set your own predefined settings that you could switch easily. Like the game/night view, standard, and rgb modes. The monitor is seeming to fail, and it has been flashing white constantly lately. Not really sure whats going on here. Had the monitor for at least 6 months and now it seems to do this while gaming or watching a movie. Looked up to see if anyone else is having this issue. Not really much on it. Probably going to need to get a replacement soon. Well, the screen acts up and in which there is alot of flickering going on and then seemingly just stops. Update: 1/29 The warranty - is so slow. Like one to two weeks to get a replacement sent out after you send in your old monitor. Advanced replacement can be sent out on your behalf; well if you want a 250 charge on your card. Advanced replacement still takes one to weeks; irregardless of sending in the monitor and then waiting the one to weeks out. Any who, rma process is supposed to take two to three day, then you use the fedex shipping that asus gives you. Of course asus covers shipping fees, which is nice not too worry about. Wish there was an expedited shipping on the advanced replacement or returning process. Probably at least a month without a monitor sucks, but at least the warranty will cover this.

This is overall a really great monitor but Im knocking off two stars because Ive noticed that it will quite often get stuck in standby mode (orange light, screen off. Even when the power button is held for upwards of a minute it will not force a shutoff and turn back on. This results in me needing to physically unplug the monitor, wait for it to power off, and then turn it back on, causing my screen displays to get out of whack and need resetting if my computer happened to be sleeping instead of powered off at the time. While this isnt a huge inconvenience, its happening enough that its becoming more than just a simple annoyance.

This monitor is really great for the price. Ive never gamed on a 144hz refresh rate and you can see the difference between 60hz. It is a lot more smoother and the colors are good. The adjustable stand is really neat. It is a good gaming monitor to those looking for one. Im also using a display port attached from my graphics card to the monitor. Im not really fond of the speakers on the monitor. In my opinion, it doesnt sound that great and would of been better left out. I also did have an issue where the display port cable wouldnt be recognized. I found a fix where you have to power cycle the monitor in order to get it working again to which I find odd. Overall, I think its a great gaming monitor to invest in, if you dont want to get too spendy with monitors. Ive only had it for a week and all seems well so far. Will post updates if something comes up.

This is my review after almost 3 years, purchased this on march/april(?) 2016 and have these as a triple monitor setup since that day. I should note that when I originally purchased the 3, one of them had a poor lit panel which I returned for a replacement within a week. 3 years later I have not had a single problem with these monitors- display wise. The ergonomic base/adjusting was a little bit of an issue when setting the 3 monitors side by side in a little bit of an arc formation. The issue which is ridiculous to remedy is that because of all of the adjustment options in all directions, its almost impossible to get all monitors perfectly even but Ive learned to live with it over time because unless you go all out and use a level to get things perfectly horizontal and plumb, they will be small inconsistencies. This however is the nature of these super adjustable bases. The refresh rate of 144hz as well as 1ms response time was actually a blessing in disguise I did not realize until I purchased a separate 28" 75hz 5ms monitor recently which I almost instantly regret. If you are not looking for a 4k panel, then 144hz and at most 1ms response time is almost required for gaming. Even single player games, rotating the camera around is so fluid and clean, on the other 75hz panel it hurts my eyes because of the blur/disfiguration from moving the camera. Now the other debate is whether to go 24 or 27/28". The picture on the 24 is going to be a little more dense and compact for lack of a better term because of the smaller screen. The larger screen may have slightly pixelate the image which I noticed on my recently purchased viotek 27" 75hz monitor. I know its not the same quality and screen as this but for still images, the difference is noticable especially after getting used to 24" panels. If you dont know what I am talking about go look at a 55" or larger tv on 1080p resolution at a electronics store. The image gets stetched out the larger you go. All things aside, I cant find myself replacing these monitors anytime soon unless 2 or more die at the same time. The quality for its time has been great and still holds up today. I should probably also mention that pc speakers are almost always terrible when compared to an actual external sound speaker system so that should never be a factor in deciding on a monitor. Nowadays alot of people want the low bezel monitors (main reason why I purchased that 27" for another room) but In my experience those have been plauged with more problems (asus included) than panels such as this. While I would like smaller bezels nowadays, its not worth replacing this just for a trend which will either change or be further improved later on. Not sure if already mentioned but no dead pixels either which was a surprise since I thought after a year I was going to get a couple. Good job on these asus lol.

This Asus monitor, for the money, is one of the best on the market right now for a PC or Apple computer. If you are buying this for your gaming console you will only be using the HDMI connection and losing the well-defined picture this monitor is capable of reproducing, especially with a higher Refresh Rate. -- Comparison Statistics -- :: Response Time (GTG): 1 ms. :: Maximum Refresh Rate: 144hz. :: Screen Diagonal Size: 24 inches :: Screen Dimensions: 22-3/8" (W) x 13-5/16" (H) x 1-7/8" (D) :: Telescoping Ability: 16" to 20-3/8" Total Height [The number is the top of the monitor] :: Tilt Capability: Forward and backward :: Stand Dimension: 9 inch Diameter :: Speakers: 2 x 2 watts :: Ports: Display Port, Dual Link DVI, HDMI :: Headphone Output: None :: USB Ports: None -- What Is Need to Use The Monitor at HD -- :: A graphics card capable of reproducing a 144hz. You definitely bump up considerably when you purchase this monitor. I play on World of Tanks using the High Definition mode. The difference in the colors and detail are very noticeable provided you have a graphics card capable of running High-Def with a 144hz Refresh Rate. The colors from the Asus reproduced out of the box were atrocious when hooked up to my PC. I tried using my on-board NVIDIA cards program but it never came close to what I was searching for in terms of color balance and brightness. It took too much time, so it was off to the search engine I went. I was able to find several web pages that had an ICC Profile pre-configured for my NVIDIA graphics card and all that was needed, after installation, was to tweak the brightness a bit. Many thanks for those people who put them out there. Using the ICC Profile saved me a lot of time. If you need help understanding how to load an ICC Profile once you have downloaded it to your computer just search, Using ICC Profile in Windows. I cant guarantee you will find the ICC Profile for your particular graphics card but if you do find one it saves a lot of time and experimentation. If you are a hands-on person there are also multiple web pages that will help you, step by step, through the process of using your graphics card software program to set up your monitor and then tweak it for game play. The telescoping stand and tilt works easily and can be moved on a moment’s notice if needed. The monitor feels solid on the desk, unlike some monitors I have owned. It is real nice to have a solid stand and monitor standing on your desk without the threat of the cat or child accidentally knocking it over. I have not used the speakers on the monitor because I use gaming headphones. I cannot comment on their capability. Monitor speakers I have used didnt have dynamic sound so unless you are hard-up for sound dont bother. This card gets 5 stars because it delivered, in spades, the best color and image definition, as well as some nice extras, Ive seen since using computers in the past 10 years. Are there better monitors out there? Yes, but this price point makes it a great choice for budget-minded gamers with a huge bump in definition above your normal graphics card. Just do your home- work to make sure your computer and graphics card have the capability to use its maximum settings. You will be very pleased with the results. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NOTE: Make sure you change the graphics card Refresh Rate to 144hz!

Wow. First, I did tons and tons of research choosing a new monitor for my new computer. I wanted to try a 144Hz monitor because I am a gamer, mainly CS:GO and League of Legends. I saw this monitor has lots of decent reviews and that its the BEST price value for its specs. This monitor has everything to offer right out the box with cables that you need to connect to your graphics card. I really like the height adjustment feature that most entry monitors dont have. Since most of the reviews said the colors look a little washed out, I was able to get it to look beautifully after doing a little research. Just go to: https://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/3c8fpi/the_old_thread_for_just_bought_a_glorious_asus/ and it has EVERYTHING that you need to get the colors to look nice and vivid. For a mid-tier gaming monitor, this monitor is hands down the best for its quality and price.

1) Screen tearing still occurs: Having fps lower then 144hz will cause tearing. Occurs in some games only noticable if you focus on looking for the screen tear. Remember this is hardware before gsync and freesync. Solutions: Lower framerate in game to match fps. Or get used to it since its hard to notice 2) Sound is lower but not muffled: Tested on 5 devices from consoles to computers, sound will be 25% quieter after a connection is active. Will fix itself after 30mins+. Solution: dont use built in speakers. 3)Color: the color is not the best. I have no problem using the colors out of the box. Solution: use monitor color settings and graphics card color to change color. Ive moved to a 1440p monitor. But the VG248QE is a great monitor to get into 144hz gaming. Once you go above 60hz you cannot go back. I recommend to buy a gsync or freesync monitor at 144hz if you have the $

I bought two of these-- one for each of my daughters to use when playing games on Windows 10 game desktops. Their game rigs are Core i7 machines with GTX 970 graphics cards that support the high refresh rate. The monitors work great, and are a good value for the high refresh (144hz) specification. Totally plug and play, and games look great. Fantastic gaming experience! The visual performance in the games is just awesome, the colors look good (to me), and they love gaming with this monitor. Works fine with Windows 10. If I was going for text, Id probably get something higher resolution, but for gaming, 1080p on 23" is still just great, and Im very happy with this display. The built-in speakers are....there. They function. And theyre kind of are awful, reminding me of tinny speakers in a laptop. Probably not bad for listening to a news reel, but not satisfying for multimedia. Lets just say "better than nothing". A serious gamer will use headphones anyway (my kids do), so its not a big negative, but dont include speakers in your list of reasons to buy this monitor over an alternative. So overall, as of this writing you wont find a better value than this for playing games on Windows. If your video card supports the 144hz refresh rate, and the size/resolution meets your requirements, this is the one to beat. I have no regrets and am really happy with the purchase.

This monitor boasts a lot of pros, however, there are a few things to be wary of before purchasing. PROS: 144hz (Keep in mind your computer must have a DisplayPort input to access this feature) 1080p Full HD Variety of adjustable picture settings (Took about 5 minutes to find the colour and brightness I liked) The entire monitor is very versatile. It can be rotated 45 degrees left and right, elevated up and down, and be pitched forward and back CONS: Piano Black EVERYWHERE (Beware of scratches) Sound quality is sub par (But when youre purchasing a gaming monitor, its really assumed that youll make use of headphones) Overall Score: 9/10 Overall, to the average gamer, this monitor is the best bang for your buck. Its fast refresh rate is fantastic for modern games and truly shows your rigs full potential. Its colour settings provide a variety of customization. The monitors ability to be angled and adjusted to your liking makes it very versatile when finding a location for it. However, it is important to note that this monitor is almost entirely piano black. This will inevitably cause scratches for most. Also, the sound quality is average at best. Finally, dont make the mistake of buying this monitor if you dont have a DisplayPort input. Not having one of these will undermine the monitors prime selling point, its 144hz refresh rate.

Ive had this monitor for almost four years now. Its been great. Play a ton of games with it and the colors and frame rates are exceptional due to 144Hz. I used the 3D for the first couple months I had it, but then ran out of content to consume. Most games dont include it anymore and I watch 3D Blu-rays on the couch. It was pretty impressive for a small panel while it lasted. Having to use proprietary glasses with a separate dongle that sucks up a USB port isnt ideal, either. I would probably not consider the feature when purchasing it now. The biggest problem, and this is where being a long-time owner has value, is that the screen now has burn-in. I never thought it was possible with these displays, but the Windows taskbar is now permanently burned into the screen. It took four years, but it happened. All told, I got a lot of great value from this monitor, and despite the burn-in, its still got a great display and is capable of blazing frame rates.
