A BREEZE TO SET UP, CUSTOMER SUPPORT VERY PLEASANT BUT UNABLE TO SOLVE PROBLEM. I OPTED TO KEEP THIS MONITOR BECAUSE I HAD BEEN THROUGH SO MUCH TROUBLE BUYING A MONITOR AND CONNECTING ONE TO MY DESKTOP SYSTEM. SECONDLY THE PRICE WAS VERY GOOD. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS MONITOR TO ANYONE READING. THE COLOR HAS NEVER BEEN RIGHT, AND THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN ACCEPTABLE RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX. I HAVE OWNED FOUR MONITORS OVER THE YEARS AND NEVER HAVE I HAD ONE THAT DOESNT DISPLAY PHOTOS, I.E., IMAGES, CORRECTLY.

I ordered this monitor to go alongside my 6 year old ASUS screen and it looked great for the price. ASUS always has pretty pictures with their panels, but within two days the monitor started to black out. It went into sleep mode while playing games, and wouldnt launch certain titles at all without shutting down. I recreated this on two separate PCs using both DVI and HDMI cables. I was sent a replacement quickly from Amazon and that monitor had a dead pixel on the screen. I gave up and asked for a refund. I have dozens of ASUS products and I expected better from them. I give it two stars because if you manage to get one that isnt defective, its the best picture you will get at this price.

When first setting up this monitor, this model does NOT automatically switch to the input that you plugged into it. For example, If using HDMI (or anything other than VGA), you will need to press the "arrow into the screen" button (just to left of power button) repeatedly until it begins to cycle between inputs. Nowhere in the manual does it say this, I had to find out my calling Asus technical support. Beyond the setup woes, the monitor works great now. Only time will tell if I keep loving it, but so far so good.

What a terrible design flaw. I get so tired of switching inputs every time I reboot my PC. Thanks for nothing, Asus! Dont enable auto switching if you cant give us a proper implementation.

Not a bad monitor for the price. Not a premium display though. The description made it sound like it has a DisplayPort port. It does not. (At least the VE248H model does not). It does have HDMI, DVI, and VGA input ports. It has a 3.5mm audio input port and a 3.5mm audio output port (presumably audio out from the HDMI source.) The picture is adequate after some tweaking of the settings to turn down the brightness. (It came cranked up at 90 and everything was washed out.) I dont notice any dead pixels. The sound isnt great and doesnt get very loud, even at 100 max volume setting. I think my macbooks internal speakers sound better... but it is a nice feature to have nonetheless. The trim around the screen in the upper left where the blue "energy star" sticker is has a little scratch/blemish in the plastic. Perhaps this display was pre-owned and refurbished before being sold to me as new... Every surface came wrapped up with plastic though as if it were new from the factory though. Despite all this, I still think it is a good value for the price, and Ill keep it.

Worked for about a day before it started to fail. Began to flicker on day two and then finally died completely. Screen would come on for a split second and then go black. I considered sending it back for a replacement but one of the reasons for choosing this product was for the built in speakers. The speakers sound like an RCA transistor radio from the 50s. Not at all functional. So Item was returned for a refund.

I needed a monitor with speakers. This one appeared to be a good fit. The size and image quality are good. The speaker sound quality is very poor. Not pleased with my purchase.

I use this monitor on a KVM in an arrangement where I dont actually use the KVMs video connection because its VGA. My desktop connects to this monitor on the DVI port. My laptop connects to this monitor via the HDMI using a DisplayPort to HDMI adapter. The monitor I replaced with this one had an extra bit of intelligence to it in that it automatically switched to the active video-input when there was only one present. That was convenient because depending on which machine I shut down last, I might power up the other one first the next time. It turned out that having the monitor automatically switch to that input during POST was convenient. The reason I gave this monitor 4 out of 5 stars is that it requires manual switching. Now if I boot up my laptop without it pre-selected to HDMI, even when it does switch, the laptop wont detect it. So while Ill keep this monitor, Ill make sure my next monitor has the auto-switching feature. Otherwise, like others have written, the monitor arrived in flawless condition with no dead pixels. I only had to adjust the brightness downward to 50% to eliminate bleed/wash-out. And I had to add post-it notes to mark the location of the menu / input selection controls. I use dim and indirect lighting which made the symbology over the button controls impossible to read. It would also have been nice if these controls had been back-lit or illuminated like the power button.

Despite the many positive reviews for this monitor I was a little scared to order any monitor sight unseen over the internet, especially with how other users prefer different screens. I myself seem to land somewhere in between the matte and glossy crowds. I dont want the screen glare or constant smudges from the glossy monitor, but I dont want my screen to look like Ive got a screen door in front of my monitor either. This monitor is a perfect combination. Its bright, beautiful, crisp and clear. It was easy to customize with Windows to adjust the colors and brightness and came with DVI and VGA cables so I was able to connect in a snap. There isnt a dead pixel anywhere and all in all Im very happy with the monitor, its a wonderful upgrade for me. The only downside is the speakers. I opted for this model hoping to replace the terrible cheap pair of speakers Ive been using for years on my PC, I was expecting something comparable to either my cheap speakers or what Ive gotten used to from television sets. These speakers were terrible. Even at the highest volume it was hard to hear and the sound clearly suffered from the tin can syndrome. I honestly get better sound out of my smartphone and tablet! Its a minor gripe and I was able to hook my old speakers back up. However, if youre going to sell a monitor with speakers the review has to take that into consideration. If you already have speakers for your PC opt for the slightly cheaper speaker-less model. All in all Id still easily recommend this monitor. Without the speakers its an easy five stars, with the speakers its got to be four.

I replaced my trusty 9 year old ASUS monitor as an upgrade (the old one still works) so I trust the brand. PROS: -Great tilt! Totally changes my viewing experience and is more comfortable, which I was totally surprised by. -Feels spacious. Works well and has all the types of ports youd need. CONS: -Did not come with an HDMI cable. Includes a DVI, VGA, and audio. HDMI was the only one I really wanted. -The Power cable is really short. OTHER: -Bright! Wow this monitor puts off light (but not hot from my use yet). Even in a darker mode. -Wish the bezel was thinner.
