Well I have started the raffle process Feb. 2019, hoping that the new stock would yield better QC. I’ll try to update for each monitor. 1.) inch long backlight bleed like crazy and in top right less in bottom right. Pressing on the bezel near the BLB makes it fade and then reappear. Sending it back. First 3 photos (sorry I know it blurry) 2.) Second monitor is great! It has the faintest increase in brightness in the top right, but barely noticeable on an all black picture. I am pretty darn picky and I can live with it. Night and day difference from the first one I got. Set to FPS picture mode, loaded up a color profile from RTINGS and lowered the backlight to around 10-15 to suit my dark room. It looks great so far with no yellowing and good color uniformity. If you get a panel with the BLB issue, send it back! Reading the other reviews makes me think I got lucky by only having to swap it out once, but it’s also proof that there are good ones out there! Don’t settle for anything other than what you’re paying six hundo for. Last 3 photos is this monitor.

PROS: + All the bells and whistles youd hope for in a monitor of this price range. G-Sync, 144Hz is easy to setup and immediately noticeable. IPS gives stellar color reproduction as well. + OC to 165Hz is nice (if a little overkill) + Solid design with thin bezels and easy to use menu buttons. CONS: - All the bells and whistles cost a significant amount more than some lower end 144Hz G-Sync monitors (though you usually have to sacrifice IPS for a cut in price). - Backlight bleed on the IPS panel seems to be a widespread issue with this model (I won the panel lottery, so this didnt affect my review score). Ive seen plenty of reviews mentioning RMAs, so be aware. A few things off the top: Im writing this review from an enthusiast gamers perspective, so keep in mind that I havent used this monitor for certain programs and tasks yet (video editing, Photoshop, etc.). As for the rig that Im running: Intel i7-4790k, GTX 1080, 16 GB RAM, multi-monitor setup with the Acer K272HUL. The first time I upgraded to 1440p 60Hz, I thought gaming couldnt get much better. I was very wrong. The ASUS ROG Swift PG279QZ has brought my rig to a point where it feels complete. With a GTX 1080 or better, youll be cranking out plenty of FPS to make use of the high refresh rate, though the 165Hz OC is overkill. Even when you cant get 144 FPS, the G-Sync is absolutely stunning. More than just looking smoother, games *feel* smoother in your hands even at 60 fps. The big thing youll see most people complain about with the IPS version of this monitor is the backlight bleed. I got lucky and only have a slight spot at the top of the panel, but its hardly noticeable in everyday use. As for the build quality, the monitor has really easy to use display buttons, thin bezels and easy VESA mounting holes. Could you find a cheaper G-Sync monitor at this resolution and refresh rate? Yes. Something like the Acer XG270HU or the Dell S2417DG would likely be great. But youll likely sacrifice the IPS that goes along with those features. If money isnt much of an object, then this is the 1440p monitor to get.

First off reviews here are a bit misleading about IPS glow. Many bad reviews here misunderstand "IPS glow." IPS glow is unavoidable, its a result of the technology as much as dithering is to TN panels. There are what is considered acceptable levels of IPS glow and i have yet to see glow which is unacceptable. DO NOT look at pictures and think thats what it actually looks like, cameras AMPLIFY the effect of IPS glow. The only way your not going to get IPS glow is if you get into professional grade territory in which your paying double the price of this if not more. Now that is out of the way lets talk about BACKLIGHT BLEED. Backlight bleed usually doesnt originate from the corners but from the side like bubbles, and is going to be much more noticeable. This is NOT a product of IPS technology but a product of poor manufacturing and poor quality control. Backlight bleed is caused by poor mounting of the panel and/or improper or uneven pressure distribution of the housing. If you lightly press your thumb against the bezel to try and find the troubled area, which is most likely the cause, you will see it go away until you remove your thumb. I dont normally review products. I went through 2 of these monitors now and they both have the same issues. Ive had lots of defective products recently that i returned that i havnt bothered to review.. But if your going to pay this kind of money for a product of this type you are in premium consumer grade territory and should expect to receive such... So lets begin with the good... -Its solid, made out of good plastics (i gave it a 1 star for material quality youll see that in negatives) -Not to flashy while maintaining gamer aesthetics -It lives up to the specs with great color reproduction and the eye care features are nice -cable management is a nice touch Now lets talk about the NEGATIVES, there are only 2, but considering it is a monitor these negatives should be deal breakers. -Backlight bleed -3 or more dead pixels on both displays Both monitors i got had this, the original and the replacement. On the second one i folded a piece of paper in half 4 times and put it between the bezel and the out casing, putting just the smallest bit of corrective pressure on the side with the issue and it went away until i removed the paper. Is it that hard to not get manufacturing defect in a product this expensive?

This monitor is exactly what I expected it to be minus a glaring flaw : the VESA mount is recessed. This caused a compatibility issue with my VESA stand. Instead of installing the adapter onto the back of the monitor and then sliding it onto the stand, I had to attach the adapter onto the stand and while holding the monitor in the air, attach the monitor to the adapter. This was all because ASUS wanted to make the back perfectly flush when using their stand. This docked the rating by a star. One other thing everyone should do is disable DisplayPort Deep Sleep. If youre running a multi-monitor setup, this will cause Windows to shift everything to one monitor (in my case - my secondary monitor) and then shift it all back to the primary monitor. I keep my system tray on my secondary monitor and with Deep Sleep enabled, I had to keep moving the system tray back over when the monitors would be woken up from sleep. Disabling that setting fixed my issue.

This is a great refresh for this monitor, no edge bleed that I have noticed so far. The sleep mode issue has also been resolved it seems. It came packaged properly, the box is different and less flashy from the previous model but other than that its the same as PG279, just better. Something to note and Im not positive it was only me, but there is no HDMI included as the spec sheet on their site states. There is also no CD and no warranty card, just a small getting started guide and member notice book that has your serial number on the back. This is not a concern as many of us do not use HDMI and if we do Im sure most of us have some laying around these days, and few used the old included CD; and less paper to recycle or throw away is good. Another thing to note, as of the time writing this review there is actually no way to properly register the monitor as its so new the model is not in the support or registration drop-downs, it has to be registered as ASUS ROG PG279Q and not PG279QZ, or just wait until it gets updated into the menu.

This is the second one of these monitors I have purchased since 12/18/18. This is my second review of this monitor. I received one that was clearly either damaged or defective at the end of January 2019. I had Amazon replace it and the replacement looks perfect. My first one is still perfect too. I am very happy with this monitor. Colors are excellent. Running at 144mhz. GTX 1060s on both computers with this monitor. Gsync.

I had the the previous version without the z and it had backlight bleeding in the top corner. So I had to return that and saw this new one. Backlight bleeding issue seems to be better and no dead pixel. What I notice is that the top half of my screen has a warmer or darker white then my bottom half which is more of a cooler color. I hope this goes away with use as it can be distracting when viewing white we pages or documents.

Seriously, do not buy. Out of the box defective sub-pixel (red) dead center of the screen. Contacted ASUS and they refused to honor their warranty. My ASUS VIP Member Notice warranty pamphlet from the box (VIP...what a joke) says verbatim that service can be requested for (a) Over zero bright dot in the first 12 months. Plus ASUS online has a "Zero Bright Dot policy" which is a misnomer, fine print says that 4+ bright dots constitute service, not more than ZERO as the policys name implies. I have been speaking to them for over 2 hours and they are just giving me the ring-around, saying its functioning normally. Was concerned about previous reviews, had hoped that I would be getting a newer model without the same problems, should have listened to my gut. Returning ASAP!

This monitor is AMAZING and very Discreet, it is fully assembled and calibrated out of the box! I purchased this monitor for gaming and it does not dissappoint. 1440p 140Hz (without overclock)! Please be aware that this monitor will take up space on your desk. My current desk is almost 30 inch in depth but I think this monitor would better on a desk with 35inch of depth. I guess I will be adding a 5 inch partition on my desk this comming spring :P The biggest con of this monitor that everybody keeps pointing out is the EDGE lit LED technology that was used to build this monitor. Yes you can see the LED light bleed when the screen goes full black and especially when the screen has no load/goes to default black screen mode, but it does not affect the gameplay in anyway or shape or form. The monitor is very vibrant and alive! The first monitor I received had a dead/stuck pixel. I contacted Amazon for an exchange and they provided me with a UPS label to return the defective product(dead/stuck pixel). The second monitor did not have any dead/stuck pixel. In conclusion, the dead pixel was the only problem of this monitor, which was solved by Amazon. The Edge lit LED bleed is not noticeable unless you look for it. I am having fun using this expensive monitor. Currently I am replaying the Story Mode on GTA 5 and the only time I notice the LED light bleed on the edge of the screen is when I first open the game and its loading through a full black screen for (way) less than 10 seconds. During the gameplay, I cannot notice it at all. If you have the money and are looking for a 27 inch 1440p 144Hz without overclocking this is the monitor you have been looking for. That being said your gonna wanna upgrade to a bigger desk or a customize you desk.

After a lot of researching over months, and debating between the Acer Predator XB271HU and the Asus ROG Swift PG279Q - when the QZ version came out boasting better panel quality, that was the final straw to tipping me to the Asus PG279QZ. Slightly faster refresh rate over the Acer and I honestly prefer the Asus solid stand to the feet that the Acers have. With the announcement of a better panel and a decent amount of reviews backing up this claim, I finally dove in. Running my OBS and camera setup while gaming I was getting a solid 138-144Hz. Picture was beautiful - I guess I won the panel lottery because I had negligible backlight bleed. The express key buttons on the back of the monitor are great for quickly adjusting blue light, giving you OSD of your FPS, the normal monitor shortcuts, and switching refresh rates (after you set it up through your preferences - which you have to do after you get the monitor because it starts at just 60fps). I know it isnt for everyone, but I am not putting multiple monitors lined up with each other (I technically have two, but one is a Cintiq) so the buttons on the back arent a problem for me, but in general, it would probably be nicer to have them on the bottom for people who are doing so. For the week that I had it, it was exactly what its specs said. No complaints. Then the screen just burned in and less than 20 minutes just decided it wouldnt turn on at all. I REALLY enjoyed this monitor for the week that I had it. I was going to return it for the same one and give it another go - but I cant find the QZ version anywhere but used (or one for an extraordinary price on eBay) and when I called Asus to ask when they expected replenishment, the person told me he wasnt sure if they would be restocking them, but he really didnt know and maybe I should wait a month or so and see... I just started working from home and work on graphic art and photography - trying to do everything on just my Cintiq is possible, but made much less crowded and significantly faster if I use two monitors to have everything nicely spaced out. So waiting a month to maybe get a monitor isnt ideal. And from working at a manufacturer, as a vendor, and a merchandiser at separate points in my life, I do not understand how you dont know the potential restocking date of a new item your company is selling. A little disappointed in that, I really want to give the Asus ROG Swift PG279QZ another shot, but I may hop ship over to their competitor and get the Acer Predator XB271HU. I have so many friends with Acer monitors and they all love theirs. I really wanted Asus for the extra speed and as silly as it sounds, love the solid base over the Acer feet. I dont like leaving negative reviews, and I do want to praise it for being good in the week I had it and hurray for the good IPS panel, but that still doesnt changed the fact that it completely died in a week and I couldnt get someone at Asus to answer my question or provide any other advice or insight besides wait a month or so. If I somehow get a second one and it works out great, I would be happy to change my review. Would have to find a new one first. *pictures are the burnt screen compared to my Cintiq screen.
