I got this to replace my almost 3 year old surround setup (3xRog Swift 2560x1440p in 7680x1440p surround) for the following reasons: 1. Bezels; they were starting to drive me nuts. 2. Performance requirements for 7680x1440p with worse and worse SLI support for games that need it to run well at higher resolutions (for example Watchdogs 1, Hitman 2016, and Assasins Creed: Origins). Even when SLI works; 2x980Tis and 2x1080Tis had a rough time of it. 3. Colors; Rog Swift TN version colors are very washed out. 4. Desk real estate; 3x27" monitors take up a lot of space. 5. Wasted monitor space in games, as you cannot see 70ish inches of screen when sitting at a desk. My concerns going in to buy the Asus Strix 35" were: 1. Not big enough for office work.(plenty of screen for working with 2 documents side by side as I discovered; though not 3) 2. Monitor defects (mine was flawless). One thing that was not a concern in my consideration; even as an Nvidia GPU user, was Gsync. Years of Gsync monitors leave me feeling it is more of a gimmick than anything. The monitor is a great piece of engineering with deep colors, 100Hz refresh out of the box (via DP cable; not included), and solid build material (all at a much cheaper price than its gsync IPS predecessor). I am including some benchmarks to give an idea of performance @3440x1440p; I am using the following hardware: i7 5930K@4.5Ghz/32GB 2666Mhz DDR4 RAM/1080Ti STRIXx2 in SLI/ROG RAIDR 240GB PCIE SSD (OS)/OCZ VECTOR 120GB SSDsx2/Corsair Force LX 256GB SSD/WD BLUE 500GB SSD/WD Velociraptor 10,000 RPM 1TB HDDsx2/EVGA 1300WG2/NZXT KRAKEN X61 AIO.

I really wanted to like this monitor, as it received decent reviews and should be a great value for 1440p gaming. (+): Easy to setup, thin bezel, one of the best monitor stands Ive ever used (especially for being included with the monitor), allows for multiple viewing angles/configurations, matte screen truly doesnt show nearly as many reflections as other matte monitors, nice cable routing system which still looks clean, even with multiple cables connected. ASUS customer service is also top knotch, should you encounter any problems down the road. (-): I bought 2 of these monitors during a 6 month period and both had issues out of the box. First one had significant backlight bleed that developed progressively over time. I had it replaced by ASUS for free under their warranty. That replacement monitor is now starting to do the same thing. Very unforunate. 2nd monitor came with a scratch on the display, which was more of a gouge, as it would show as a white line. It also had some scratches on the stand as well. Poor quality control, as these issues shouldve been found before the "protective films" were placed on the monitor.

If youre in the market for a 21:9 wide screen with Freesync, you cant beat this monitor. Mine arrived with no dead pixels and looks great. For work or play, this monitor is great. I typically work with 2-3 programs open, and there is plenty of real estate to accommodate the windows side-by-side. This really beats 2 or 3 monitors for work because you lose a lot of space by not being able to place an open window in the middle of two screens. The curve is very nice, not too much or too little. The height/swivel adjustments are very smooth and easy. For gaming? Forget about it. If you have a card that can push all the pixels, this monitor is fantastic. Now for the con: the cable management hole has two pieces of plastic that meet at a point. Well, that point is not smooth at all, and when I pull my keyboard closer to me or push it back, it catches my braided keyboard cable that I have running through it. If ASUS could fix this simple design/manufacturing flaw, I wouldnt have any complaints.

Received a defective monitor. Displayed nothing but a black screen. I understood that this could sometimes happen, but what pissed me off the most is the terrible customer service when trying to get it replaced. 2weeks and counting after sending my defective monitor back and still no update on when I’m getting my replacement.

Upgrading from a 27 inch slim Samsung this is a damn big upgrade, the curve of the screen wasnt noticeable and the viewing angle is massive, could sit facing the screen almost sideways and still see whats on screen, the tri-legged base is very deep and very wide definitely need to have a desk big enough for it. Main con Id say is the price for whats its worth is still too high. the "rgb" wheel on the back is pretty pointless, will not light up a wall or be seen from anywhere but the back, and the red baselight (ROG LOGO inserts) is very bright and can easily be seen during the day.

Pros: Great monitor, no dead pixels, no noticeable BLB, good color uniformity for a curved VA panel. Cons: Cannot set the display ratio to 16:9, which makes it a bad option for console users. Also the viewing angle is moderate.

This is a freesync monitor. I have a cyberpowerpc custom built EVGA SC2 1080 Ti and it works flawlessly without any tearing or lag when hardcore AAA gaming. Even with video/photo editing it works well and the colors are fine to me. Im not a pro video/photo editor, but a causal computer user and gamer. I love the Rog Strix stuff and also enjoy the subtle RGB lighting behind it. I have the RGB bug. The cons are not knowing what it would have been like if I bought the Gsync version but that would also mean Im spending about at least $500 more for the similar monitor from ASUS Rog Strix line just for the gsync and a TN monitor which is a big no no for me. The VA monitor on this cheaper version is way better than TN. I think VA is in between the TN and IPS monitors in regards to color and visual quality. I use to have the predator B1 i believe, 24 inch TN gsync monitor and it was bad and nothing compared to this one. I really enjoy my purchase and VERY happy with it. I dont mind that it doesnt come with speakers because you dont need it. I got myself better speakers, the LG G560 and its like a RGB EDM dance party in my room. The monitors base is so firm and solid, I cant rock it at all and just because you dont put the table too close to the edge. It has two ports: one DP and one HDMI. The DP goes to my EVGA 1080 TI and the HDMI obviously goes to my xbox one X. Its a huge man cave here. Im so happy with the monitor and glad I didnt go for the 24 inch because this 27 inch was just perfect. Im coming from a 27" iMac 2013 model and I thought initially this monitor was going to be like the imac but its not because it doesnt have the huge bezel around the monitor. Overall happy! Now, Im tempted to save up money and if the rog strix line for IPS gsync monitors get cheaper, maybe ill look into that and give this one to my wife to use. Even she loves this monitor. So far no problems with it even after shipping to Hawaii! Update 30 Oct 2018: These line of monitors are so good, I bought the XG35VQ as well to add. No dead pixels. No color issues or panel problems. The box that came with it was damaged due to UPS shipping due to raining a lot in Hawaii today. I dont think Amazon shipped me a slightly damaged and wet box. The monitor inside was dry so that was good. It hooked up very well. I had to get used to the settings since it was slightly different from my XG27VQ next to it. I dont like the ELMB feature because of ghosting with my 1080 Ti. I know this is a freesync monitor, but I didnt want to pay for the expensive gsync feature. My XG27VQ works perfectly and pictures are beautiful, now with this XG35VQ, this is a HUGE beauty that makes me feel like Im at a star wars battle station. I cant play youtube videos on full widescreen but its still good if you dont mind the black bars on the side, which I dont since I mainly bought this ultrawide screen for the screen real estate for productivity and heavy PC gaming with WoW, CODBO4, Fortnite. I play other titles like BF1, BF5 when it was in beta, destiny 2, dragon ball Z, assassins creed odessy on my xbox one X connected to my XG27VQ. Overall these two monitors are BEASTS with my 1080 Ti. I am a happy customer. Now, how do I get my copy of COD BO4?

21 June 2019: Updated my review since Ive had this for a few months now and am actually quite disappointed in it, given the price of the thing. The GtG response time, as well as the pixel response time, on this is actually quite high and results in a blurry image when moving around in games. Setting the Overdrive to 3 lessens the effect, but its still incredibly obvious its there. While the colors and brightness of the display are very good, I cant get around the "motion blur" effect in most of my games, even though Im running them at 144FPS or higher. I also tested the adaptive sync on a few games including WoW, X4: Foundation, and Witcher 3. Each time the adaptive sync changes the refresh rate the monitor flickers; it seems like the brightness of the monitor is changing every time the refresh rate does, resulting in a sort of "flashy" flickering effect that wont go away until you disable the adaptive sync. When checking online it appears this monitor has this problem with a whole host of video cards, so it seems less likely to be a driver issue and more of an issue with the monitor itself. I wish I could return this and get the Samsung C32HG70 32-inch instead. I have the 27-inch Samsung QLED 144hz monitor sitting next to my Asus 32-inch and it blows the Asus out of the water when it comes to performance. --------------------------------- Original Review: I got the 31.5-inch 1440p display (XG32VQ). Ive only had it for a couple days and I am in love with this thing. The picture quality is incredible right off the bat. Its on the "Racing" preset by default, which makes everything quite bright, but changing this is incredibly easy so I just set it to the default "User" profile, which is also great, and adjust my gamma and brightness within the games themselves. No other adjustment needed in my opinion. Monitor is set to 144hz by default. No stupid "overclock" option needs to be enabled. There is, however, an "Overdrive" option set to "3" by default. If this is like the previous monitor I replaced (AOC Agon AG352UCG6 - Do Not Get This), this option increases or decreases the GtG (Grey-to-Grey) response time to the advertised 4ms. I didnt see any need to change it, so it may be best to leave this as is. Cant use the Adaptive/FreeSync since I have NVidia, but thats more of a gimmick anyway unless you have some strange hardware that wildly fluctuates between 60FPS and 144FPS constantly in games, and even then you wont notice tearing. Thankfully I didnt have any defects in the item itself; no scruffs, no dead pixels or anything. The build of the monitor is solid, but you need a lot of room on your desk (or a large desk) to hold the wide-legged mount. If you can, put this thing on a VESA mount. The only problem I had with this mount was how to put the little plastic chip into the base of the mount (the little chip that the LED projects through). There are little nooks that it fits into that I just didnt notice for too long. I dont use the LED projection anyway, I just thought I was stupid for not noticing it soon enough.

OMG, I love this monitor. I purchased this completely on impulse for my nephew and now Im jealous. When I first plugged it in I thought it was washed out looking. Then I thought, "lets hook things up properly and tweak the settings before passing judgement". So, I installed the drivers, connected the Display Port Cable to my GTX1070, and set the refresh rate to 144 hz. I like to play all kinds of games, so I fired up Warcraft first as I play it the most. After three hours of running around questing and such, I noticed my eyes felt more relaxed than normal. When I spun left or right changing views it was clearer and after the color tweaking vibrant and lush looking. I was really impressed, then I tried GTA5, The Witcher, Fortnite, DOOM, and several others and I was amazed. I was more engaged and it became more apparent that Im missing out with the other displays I currently own "curved is not just a gimmick, I must have one of these. So now Im saving my money to get the 31 inch version, this display is awesome dont hesitate. Heavy Duty packaging, no dead pixels, no light bleed, great aesthetics, the stand is smooth and easy to adjust. Tweak the settings, and there are plenty, and this monitor will deliver.

Great monitor for the price. Has minor led bleed but it isnt to bad. Rgb ring in the back wont synch with your system and isnt bright enought to project well onto your wall. Overall the rgb ring feels like an afterthought/gimmick.
