ASUS PB277Q 27" WQHD 2560x1440 75Hz 1ms HDMI DVI VGA Eye Care Monitor

Just want to write a quick review. I did not buy this monitor from Amazon but rather Microcenter. I bought one back in 2013 which was perfect, no backlight bleeding or color issues. It is still perfect today. I recently decided I wanted a dual monitor set up. I bought another one a few weeks ago; it had backlight bleeding that took up 20 pct of the screen. Photoshop was unusable. I thought it was just that one monitor, so I exchanged it. Same issue with the next one, then I ended up just returning it and keeping my one monitor set up. Im writing this review because I did some research online and it is not just me that is having these black light bleeding out the issue, but something about the models being ship in 2015. So be aware of this issue when buying. Ill post a picture of the problem. The monitor on the right is the newer one, now returned.

Purchasing this monitor has been one of my worst experiences. I should have paid attention to the other negative reviews. The first monitor I received had the problems other people mentioned. The display was terrible and had some sort of bad bleeding/ghosting from the edge, especially on gray colored backgrounds. Because I just received it, I still had the box it shipped in and still had my old monitor. Amazon was of course great at replacing it at no charge with no questions. It is why I like dealing with Amazon rather than any other retailer. I just used my old one until I got the replacement. After receiving the replacement, it seemed to work so I got rid of the box and my old monitor. after a few weeks it started having a sever problem. Every few minutes it would shutoff with a loud static from the speakers. Every time it startles me and interrupts my work. It makes for some long days. I contacted Asus and they agreed to replace it under warranty. I expected them to ship out a replacement and I could then use that box to ship back the defective one. Asus calls this their 2 way free shipping (cross-ship). They tell me there is no inventory and they can only do a standard RMA. This would mean that I would need to purchase some sort of box and packing material. I would then need to ship back my monitor and wait until they have a replacement which could be weeks, month, who knows. Unfortunately, I can not be without my monitor for hours, let alone months. I need it for my business. They told me to check back. I have cheeked back every week for nearly 3 months now. Every time it is the same story. So the take away from this is to pay attention to the 1 star reviews. It is very likely you will have a problem with this monitor. They will replace it, but you will need to be without a monitor for a very long period. I have been a ASUS fanboy for a while now, but it looks like I need to purchase a new monitor now (which I dont have money for) and will be switching to a different manufacture. I HIGHLY recommend you go with somebody else so you do not find yourself in this stressful predicament

I had this monitor for about 2 weeks and it was pretty awesome. Then yesterday morning it didnt start up right away, and after 25 minutes of playing silly buggers with rebooting and cable swapping such, it came up with a 1 pixel green line about 4-5 inches (didnt measure it) from the right hand side. I tried to open a case through the ASUS online chat, but that required I open a case over the web. However their search box gave an "Access Denied" error. S0 I called in. Apparently their Tech Support line was overflowing, because I got someone who took my name and phone number and promised a return call within an hour. And I know youll be SHOCKED to find out it didnt happen. So I tried their email support form, which refused to let me through on a perfectly ( see RFC 822 or google "email plus addressing" ) valid email address. This morning the monitor again failed to start immediately, so its going back to Amazon (thanks guys) and Ill be buying from Not Asus for a few years. I realize with modern manufacturing that not everything is perfect, but if you cant properly size your technical support lines, either your assembly lines need to be fixed, or your product design.

I bought this monitor from Amazon twice. The first one was returned because within a week or so, there was a problem with the HDMI connection. I would get a blue screen with a notice in black and white in the center of the screen saying HDMI was not connected and I couldnt turn of the monitor without unplugging it. I checked the connection substituted a couple of other HDMI cables and nothing changed. I still had the monitor this one replaced. I hooked it up and it worked fine.30 days hadnt elapsed so I returned it. Because so many reviews were positive, I thought, well this is jus one of the rare bad ones, so I bought another one. I lasted 3 months. What happened, exactly the same thing as happened with the first one. I mean exactly. I couldnt return it to Amazon, so I contacted ASUS. I set out exactly the same description of the problem that is described above and I was routed to "Just Answer," despite saying I it was a warranty issue. "Just Answer" is a scam. I put in my initial request to ASUS and "Just Answer" all of the things I had done. The first technician suggestion was have you checked the connections. Either the tech is brain dead or its just a mechanical function. While I was tying a response, a screen suddenly appeared saying Id accepted an offer of service and Id be charged $39 and that a tech wanted to access my computer and gave me a code number. My response was I hadnt accepted the service, I didnt want the service and no, you cant have access. I also said, if they tried to charge me, Id contact the FCC as well a my bank. You always wonder what scammers like Just Answer will do, and in this case, they sent the copy of my conversation, in which I said I didnt accept, that they were scammers, etc. They did submit a charge and I will have to contest. AND my monitor still doesnt work. DONT BUY ANYTHING FROM ASUS

I had been using a $130 1080p 22” Asus monitor for a couple of years (VS228H-P). After settling down in a new city long-term, I decided it was time to upgrade to a larger, higher-res monitor. Over 95% of my monitor usage involves gaming. At the time of purchase (February 2017), this monitor hit the sweet spot between: - my 1440p requirement - size - rating - price IPS panels are supposed to exhibit better color range and accuracy, and this monitor has an IPS variant available. However, I decided to skip that because I read that: - IPS often has higher input latency, which you don’t want for gaming - IPS may exhibit light bleed around the edges, and I planned on using my monitor in dimmer environments frequently Additionally, I have been happy with the balance between viewing angles and color on the VA panel that powers my Vizio home theater display. I use this thing with my GTX 970, and play everything at the native 1440p. Most games so far have worked surprisingly well at 60 fps or more at very high settings (though I lag behind the newest releases a bit). There is barely anything I *don’t* like about this monitor. The height adjustment works particularly well, and the monitor comes with a nice array of cables, which is appreciated. The VA panel has been treating me well for the year I’ve been using it for. I dont have experience with higher end gaming monitors and frame rate synchronization systems like G-Sync, but for the price, this monitor has far exceeded my needs. The colors in Overwatch really pop!

Unless youre a professional gamer, competing at the highest level, you really dont need a response time of 1ms on your gaming monitor. In other words, you really dont need a TN panel often found in BenQ monitors (not all their models but definitely their most popular). Dont get me wrong, BenQ makes phenomenal monitors, but if youre like me and the picture quality/color matters, I recommend purchasing an IPS monitor. This is a newer technology which provides better color and quality. The knock on IPS monitors is that getting a response time lower than 5ms is very difficult. Like I mentioned above, unless youre a professional gamer, its very likely you wont even notice the difference. I do YouTube and pretty competitive gaming and I could not notice a difference between a 1ms BenQ and 6ms Acer playing a flinch reaction game (COD). Now, if were talking about a 55" flat screen TV compared to a 27" monitor, youll definitely notice the difference in the response time because the large TV will likely have a response time closer to 45ms. Believe me when I tell you, you will absolutely notice the difference between a quality IPS compared to a quality TN monitor, the TN panels color will look washed out 10/10 times. Of course, resolution plays a factor here but when were talking about console gaming (which I am), 1080p 60fps is the max youre going to get at the time of this review. Now that we have that out of the way, heres my review for the actual monitor. Lets be clear, this is a PREMIUM monitor. A few years ago when this monitor released, it cost about $700 (yes, this monitor is a few years old). $700 for a gaming monitor or second display is a lot of money, no question about it. Now that this monitor is a few years old and Asus has newer models (for much more money), this monitor is a steal at $400. Asus monitors, at least in my experience, are on the thicker side as far as physical dimensions. Its not because its older technology as Asus still makes monitors that are thicker. That being said, this is a thicker monitor so keep that in mind before you purchase it. Not thick to the point its annoying or a deal breaker, but it isnt as thin as say, some Acer models that are on the market. And thats perhaps the end of the negative part of this review. Im reviewing this monitor from a gaming AND second monitor perspective - I use this monitor for both. Lets talk about the most important part, the picture. This monitor looks GOOD. The picture is very clear and crisp, the colors pop and its a really enjoyable visual experience. Its going to be a huge upgrade to just about all TN panels and entry level IPS monitors. I truly enjoy a nice picture and am willing to sacrifice a little response time, this monitor is well worth it, I promise you. If picture quality/color is important to you, then stop reading and add this monitor to your cart; you wont regret it. After all, that really is the most important part when it comes to a monitor provided youre not a professional gamer. The adjustable stand on this monitor received a lot of hate when I was reading reviews before I decided to purchase it. I have to say, I dont agree with the negative reviews about the stand. I find the adjustable stand to be quite convenient and work well. It has all the adjustments youll need to get the screen in the perfect position for you. The base of the stand is kind of huge and Im not sure its completely necessary. But again, not really all that important. One of my favorite features of the monitor is the built in speaker. This is no lousy speaker, it is actually quite loud and pretty clear! When Im tired of using my headset for FPS, I appreciate the fact it has a reliable speaker. This may not matter to many of you because you use external speakers, but for those that dont, or dont want to spend the extra money on external speakers, this is another win for you. Bottom line, this is a phenomenal monitor for gaming and as a second monitor for your PC/Mac. Spend the money on something youre going to spend a lot of time using, youll really appreciate it in the end. By the way, 2K is a really nice touch as well when it comes to a nice picture.

Bought the ASUS PB278Q 27" WQHD monitor on 9-11-2018. In less than 2 months, just outside the one month return window, the DisplayPort fails. VERY POOR QUALITY. Also the stand does not swivel at all. I should have listened to other reviews. Dont buy any ASUS product and make the same mistake. If you choose to ignore this warning, read on about the "fun" youre in for: ASUS Rapid Replacement is ONLY A MARKETING GIMMICK. They have NO STOCK to cross-ship. Amazon stock doesnt count. ASUS said they must have stock in the "repair center" to cross-ship. What a joke. ASUS repair centers obviously dont maintain any inventory. ASUS said if you want "Rapid Replacement" to call back periodically and check to see if they have any in stock. So basically you get to waste your time calling/waiting on the service line indefinitely with the false hope some day, per chance, theyll just happen to have one on the ready. Theres absolutely nothing "Rapid" about that. ITS A LIE! Your choices are basically: 1. to be without a monitor for an alleged 7-10 business days (NOT including GROUND shipping), or 2. simply dont get it fixed. Like thats even a choice after having just bought a brand new ~$400 monitor. So be prepared to be without a monitor for the better part of a month. Full stop. Oh, but the fun doesnt stop there. You have to provide, or purchase, your own packing materials. If you managed to save the original retail box, you can use that, but you wont get it back. Forget about later being able to move it safely, store it safely, or resell in the original box. Not going to happen. Then when it undoubtedly breaks again, you get to go through the same difficulties all over again. ASUS specifically told me the original box will under no circumstances be returned. Full stop. The rep wouldnt acknowledge when I asked if the return will be in similar box, and just kept repeating original materials are destroyed. Read into that whatever you will, but it sounds like single use flimsy packaging to me. Youve now been warned. UPDATE: Received the ASUS RMA email which states to use a traceable carrier, or you can contact ASYS to PURCHASE a shipping label. WTF! Thats right. In addition to having paid ~$400 for a brand new "FAILED" monitor, you also get to PAY AGAIN to ship it back for repair. And you had better pack it well for shipping because, upon reading the fine print, the slightest damage will completely void the warranty. When ASUS is good and ready, ASUS will of course use Ground shipping to return the monitor to you. Better hope their, ahem, superior quality, holds up well against that cross-country GROUND shipment. How convenient ASUS uses ground shipping when the slightest damage will void your warranty. Basically the warranty is a sham. Theyre throwing away potential repeat customers and they obviously dont care.

I recently purchased a Mac Mini 2.6 GHz Quad-Core Intel core i7 and this 27” ASUS PB278Q WQHD LED-lit PLS Professional Graphics Monitor. The monitor came with several connecting cables, VGA-VGA, DVI-DVI, HDMI-HDMI, DisplayPort to DisplayPort. The Mac mini has an HDMI and a mini DislpayPort connection. I tried the HDMI, but of course the best resolution I could get was 1080. I needed an adapter cable to connect the Mac mini to the ASUS monitor. I tried three adapter cables. Neither the Accell B143B-003J UltraAV Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort 1.2 Cable, the StarTech M/M MDP2DPMM6 Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort Adapter Cable, nor the Monoprice 5106 Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter gave me the full 2560 X 1440 resolution of the monitor or fill the entire display of the monitor. I didn’t originally purchase the Apple Mini MB571Z/A DisplayPort to Dual-Link DVI Adapter based on its price. I thought that the other adapter cables would work. I went ahead and ordered the Apple adapter cable. When it arrived, I connected it to the Mac mini and ASUS monitor. When I powered the Mac and monitor back up, I immediately had full 2560 X1440 resolution and full screen display. I have been using the monitor with the Mac mini and Apple adapter cable now for six weeks and have had no issues. I have had no problems with the monitor waking from sleep mode like I have read in other reviews using other adapter cables to connect a Mac mini and ASUS monitor. This is correct adapter for my Mac mini configuration and monitor. I would not recommend trying to make the other adapter cables work. This is a great monitor. I love the resolution and color...and I havent yet tried to calibrate it. I wish the sound was a little more dynamic, but its not bad.

I bought this monitor after getting a late 2009 model Mac Pro 4,1. It had a decent monitor, but I noticed the Nvidia Geforce gt 120 was capable of putting out a higher resolution then the monitor that came with it. So upon my research I considered a Samsung curved display, but ultimately came back to this one. I did however have issues with the dvi port. I used the highest quality of cables and what it came with and just kept having an issue. When the computer would turn on, along the way it would turn to snow, then I turned the monitor off and back on again and it was fine. Every time I turned my computer on it would do that. Then I purchased an ATI Radeon HD 5770 to upgrade my computer a little bit. It wouldnt turn on at all. I checked the old monitor to make sure and it was fine. What finally solved the problem was using the display port on the monitor instead of the dvi port. Now it works flawlessly smooth and clear at everything. Problem solved. So, my conclusion is that the dvi port has some sort of manufacturer defect on my particular monitor. Since the display port works fine, it doesnt bother me. I have never tested the speakers since I have nice computer speakers, so, I cant give review on those. The final verdict is that this is a great monitor and works excellent with Mac OS X! Mac or PC, and this monitor is a good choice if youre looking for a 1440p display. Decently priced for the quality too. I was initially worried that it was only an LCD and not LED that it would look pixelated, but it doesnt. The only concern is that if you end up with a problem with a cable port and something seems wrong, have it exchanged for another one, but in a world of mass produced products, its bound to happen some time. Just buy it if youre thinking about it.

Ive owned this monitor since Jan 2015 when it first came out and it was almost $600 new back then. WARNING - do not buy the extended warranty for this either - reason being, the warranty people were helpful and were willing to write the claim, but there are -0- zero repair shops that will even touch it. I called and drove around to no avail in Dallas. So what good is a warranty claim policy if you cannot get it repaired? This monitor is on a quality Furman surge protector and Panamax UPS, so it isnt getting junk power. After 11 months, the screen would end up making a popping sound, go dark and then reboot. I figured it was the power supply, so bought one on ebay and cracked the case and replaced it myself. This was early 2016. Now I think I am having the DVI port going out on the monitor. The screen will go dark, I have to unplug my thunderbolt cable from the macbook and plug it back in and then it comes back on. Have changed inputs, cables, etc too and it does the same thing. Not too impressed to keep having issues every year with this monitor. Soon it will die completely! It does look good though, but wish the reliability was better
