Although the image is pretty nice and crisp, this monitor had dead pixel lines after about two months of use. I could no longer return it through Amazon so I resorted to contacting Asus. Asus had me send in the monitor and get it repaired. The entire process took about 15 days. The only issue here is that when I got the monitor back, the screen was not working at all. No display output at all. So I got the monitor in an unusable condition directly from Asus. This is unacceptable. I called them immediately and they are not being very cooperative. I was told I would get an "advanced replacement" but that it would take 24 hours to process. I got a call back two days later saying they did not have any stock for the advanced replacement and they wouldnt be able to order more for the advanced replacement (which is not reasonable since this monitor is still in production). They resulted to doing a manual check which apparently takes 3 whole days and claimed they didnt have any until I mentioned never using any Asus product again or referring customers to them. Then suddenly they had advanced replacements available. Very sketchy company. Lets see what happens when I receive the product. I will update this review. I would still stay away from Asus, the deal may seem good but its not worth the trouble. There are much more reputable brands out there that are very willing to provide great customer service. Again I will update this review after this mess is over. Update 9/13/18 I received my advanced replacement today and the monitor seems to be in fine condition. Still a little annoyed by the entire process which took a little over one month to get a working monitor. Many times having to call and ask why it was taking so long. There was always an excuse. But anyway, I have a working monitor now finally. Let’s hope it stays that way....

Im writing my observations for ASUS Designo MX27UC which I got a couple of days back. I purchased LG 27UD88 earlier which theoretically should be better than the Asus one. But the panel went bad in a day and I had to return it. Good thing that happened!!! I ordered the Asus MX27UC and I cannot be happier about it. The panel is brilliant. It can be considered as good as or even better than the 27UD88 one. Pros: + I can also get 3840x2160 @60hz over its HDMI 2.0 port!! This is a huge deal since the LG 27UD88 has only HDMI 1.4 that can do the same resolution at 30hz which is a deal breaker (LG can only do that over the Display Port) + Moreover, You can directly connect the Asus MX27UC USB-C to your Mac Pro USB-C port (Mine is 15-inch 2017 version with USB-C) using the included cable and get the full 3840x2160 @60hz without any change in the setting what so ever and simultaneously charge your MacBook Pro!!!!. You could at most get half of this resolution and strange resolution issues using the LG one with similar connection type. Cons: - No VESA mount I absolutely love this monitor. I would update this review if anything changes.

I would like to give a positive review as weve had good experiences with the brand, but sadly, both the original product and the replacement exhibited manufacturing flaws. One had a vertical purple line, the other a horizontal white line, with random pixels always white. We tried the highest quality HDMI cables and had the same result with two separate computers. Interestingly, Windows 10 does not automatically recognize the monitor, even though it does recognize most others. Overall, a disappointing experience and we ultimately returned both the original purchase and its replacement, not wanting to waste our time with a third attempt.

This review is for the Asus monitor model # mx259h. I purchased this monitor to replace my old AOC by envision series 22 inch TV which I was using as a monitor as well as a TV for my Verizon FIOS TV service. This monitor is an upgrade as it has two HDMI inputs which are in use by my desktop computer and FIOS STB. I was surprised that an HDMI cable was included with this monitor as according to my understanding a DVI to HDMI cable was going to be included instead along with a VGA cable and the audio cable. What came in the box was an HDMI cable, a VGA cable and oddly a DVI to VGA cable along with the audio cable. Computer picture/video quality is much better on this monitor especially since I am using HDMI as opposed to using VGA with the AOC TV as the STB took up the only available HDMI input. This monitor is very pleasing to look at and since it is nearly frameless, It weighs just about the same or is slightly lighter than the smaller AOC 22 inch TV. The buttons on this monitor are not sensitive as some claim but they do take some getting used to as one must learn and understand how they work. As far as the built in speakers go, surprisingly they are much better than the speakers that are built into the 22 inch AOC TV considering the fact that the speakers on both this monitor and the AOC 22 inch TV are both 3 watts per speaker. They certainly cannot compete with a 2.1 sound system with subwoofer which I just got rid of because of space constraints and to cut down on cable clutter but they go pretty loud and sound clear despite having little bass to them. If you want a monitor that is pleasing to look at, has decent speakers, and does not cost very much, I recommend this monitor though if you are looking for subwoofer type audio quality, you will not be happy with the built in speakers.

This beautiful display is connected to my Mac Mini via HDMI cable. The image is sharp. For Mac users trying to get a sharp image via HDMI, the trick is to open System Preferences > Displays and set "Underscan" to OFF. The attached screen shot shows Mac OS display settings for the ASUS MX259H. The frame is minimal and sleek. The silver base matches the silver Mac Mini. The 25-inch size that I bought, replaced an older 27-inch Samsung LCD display. I wasnt sure about down-sizing, but had noticed I dont really need the full 27-inch size and wanted a more minimalist work space. 25-inch size is perfect. There are multiple settings for various lighting conditions, which can be selected using a button on the lower right. I like that. The built-in speakers are good enough for watching YouTube. Although the computer volume control will not raise and lower sound volume of built-in speakers. This could be due to HDMI delivering constant volume. Speaker volume must be adjusted using a button on the bottom right. I was hesitant about buying a display from Amazon, because I didnt want to risk damage, even a little, since I will be looking at it for a few years. I was pleasantly surprised to find it double-boxed. The outer box was not damaged. The inner ASUS box had packaging around it for padding. The monitor was packed securely inside the ASUS box.

UPDATE (05/29/2017) Today, I received my 2nd replacement and it seems that this also has screen bleeding. On top of that, it also has defective internal components. After plugging it in the whole screen kept on getting random vertical lines of a different color each time. At first, I thought it was my graphics card but I also tried my Apple Tv and it did the same thing where I had to restart the monitor everytime it happened. I have told Amazon and they told me that they will be doing an Andon Corde which means until the manufacturer examines all of the MX27UCs this monitor model will be taken off the Amazon website. UPDATE (05/27/2017) I got my 1st replacement and what do you know this one also has it but worse than the 1st. Amazon ordered a 2nd replacement and if this one also has it then they will do an Andon Corde. I was really excited after reading from Asus that they test their high-end monitors in dark environment. This meant that the monitors with light bleeding or clouding wont be sent to the customer but it wasnt the case for me. The MX27UC had intensive bleeding on the bottom left portion of the display and I believe due to my luck I got a defective one. I have requested a replacement and will be getting that tomorrow. I have to say this monitor is the highest quality on the outside and inside I have ever tested. I have tried Samsung, LG, Acer, Dell and much more and none of them has come close to the quality of this monitor and brand gave me. Even accounting the light bleeding issue the rest of the display did not even have the slightest bleeding whatsoever. Recently, I have tested out LG 27UD68 and that monitor had screen bleeding everywhere and I had to get a refund after 4 replacements from LG The first picture I have attached is from my first MX27UC. I will be updating my review when I get the replacement. If you like this review remember to click that like button and share it with your friends and Ill see you next time.

I bought this monitor after another cheap 34" UW monitor from a different manufacturer had failed on me. This is a wonderful monitor. For me, this is now my only way I will game. I have a Benq XL2730z monitor which has done quite well for me for the past two years or so, but I wanted to try the hyped 34" UW gaming. There is really no way I can go back to a non Ultra-wide monitor now. I really enjoy the wide FOV. The detail is very good too. I have a gaming PC hooked up to the monitor through DP and I also have an Xbox One S and a PS4 hooked up to the monitor through HDMI. They all work really well. I mainly game on this monitor and I also watch Netflix and web surf. Watching videos on Netflix does have black bars on the sides of the screen, but that doesnt bother me as I already knew that before I made the purchase. I prioritize the fun experience of gaming on the UW over the slight inconvenience of black bars on the sides of the screen when watching netflix videos. I have tested this monitor on Blur busters and it works as advertised. I also used the Dead Pixel Buddy website to check for dead pixels and there are non. The only con for me is that there is minor flickering when the FPS drops between 48-51 on games. I was also aware of this screen flickering before getting the monitor so it is not a surprise to me. Apparently it happens as AMD Freesync transitions to the Low Framerate Compensation at the lower FPS. I play a lot of BF1 and that only flickers during the load screens. The screen flickering is also not the whole screen either, it does it in random spots on the loading screens. I have tried Battlefield 1, Quantum Break, Project Cars, and Sniper 3 Ghost Warrior. When I turn off AMD Freesync, I do not get any screen flickering in my games at all. I have not noticed and screen tearing with Freesync turned off, but I am certain there is...I just havent noticed it yet. I do have an aging R9 Fury X GPU so the new games with settings dialed up does make my card struggle. I hope the AMD Vega card when it releases, will be strong enough to push all new games up to 100hz on this monitor with ultra settings. My system specs: I7-6700k OCd 4.6ghz. Asus Maximus Hero 9 R9 Fury X (Driver 17.4.4) Corsair DDR4 32gb (4x8) 3.0 XMP Samsung 1tb 850 EVO for Games Windows 10 Home 64

If you are buying this monitor for USB-C connectivity, look elsewhere. According to Asus this monitor is in need of a firmware update ("firmware 106") and get this: you can only receive this firmware by sending it to Asus so that they can update it themselves. That means you spend your own money for their firmware update to their product to use an input function that doesnt work out of the box. If youre buying this for HDMI input, my guess is its hit or miss and Im not sure why. At the price point this thing sells at, I am baffled when using the HDMI port at how fuzzy some things can seems. Theres also incredible mouse lag. Other than that the sound quality is what you should expect. Its not incredible but its not bad at all. Very doable. The buttons are under the right corner of the monitor and they are awful. You never know which button does what because theres no heads up that tells you what button does what other than power. The monitor is absolutely gorgeous though. Its metal with very small bezels, I mean this things is beautiful to look at....when its off and you imagine that it works fine. Conclusion, I am staying away from Asus products from now on. Stay away from this monitor and this company.

I searched for a monitor with a USB type C display port. I started with a LG, and although it was ok, there was a red line on the left and the sound was terrible (did not mimic the sound of my laptop). So, I purchased the MX27UC. So far this one is working fine. I used the type C cable they provided for my laptop, and it worked fine. Im trying my special certified type C cable (as I had bought one because I wasnt sure if they supplied a usb C to usb C). So far, its working fine. The only thing I with they had provided was a way to raise and lower the screen so that I could adjust the height. So far, so good though. Ill update this review if I see anything funky or if there is anything I see that Im even more impressed about.

I just love this monitor and use it as a poor mans graphic editing screen coming from a 22 inch non IPS non LED illuminated Acer. I began with a Spyder pro calibration and am very pleased. Of course the before and after calibration is dramatic when compared as it came with brightness levels too high and the usual Kool-Aid dazzling blue cast. Using photoshop CS5/lightroom etc. and editing down to pixel by pixel levels it is sharp and makes editing so much more pleasant for preparing work to print. Realizing that this is not a true graphic monitor ( price can tell you that) I was so impressed. No dead pixels, no noticeable light bleeding, little heat and energy use and really nice to look at with a very thin bezel. The stand will not allow for portrait orientation but tilt is fine for most applications. No high gloss reflections a plus. I found the 25" was great for my work being fearful that 27" was too big for my working editing-viewing distance of 2-3 feet.
