I went through FOUR other monitors and this is my fifth and sixth. Tried two Pixios and two Acers and they all had problems (dead pixels, scrambled video, losing signal). I sucked it up and put a little more money into this Asus and guess what? DEAD PIXEL. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING WITH $400-$550 MONITORS! Just got the second Asus and so far, so good. Aside from that, I was happy with it. Most of the presets gave me weird contrast ghosting and really brought out the compression artifacting in compressed images and I was getting irritated that I couldnt get rid of it. Found these settings on reddit and they really do seem to give me the best results: Game Visual: Cinema Mode (unlocks all settings, has best contrast) Blue Light Filter: 0 (after changing you might need to set "mode" back to Cinema) Color: - Brightness: 75 (your preference, 80 was looking a bit harsh after a while in my dim room.) - Contrast: 80 - Saturation: 46 - Skin Tone: Natural - Color temp: user. [R: 100] [G: 96] [B: 96] Image: - Sharpness: 50 - TraceFree: 80 - VividPixel: 0 - ASCR: off Menu navigation is the best Ive seen on any monitor thanks to the joystick-like interface. Screen is bright and vibrant, lighting is very even - I dont see any splotches or wierd light bleed.

Having a PS4 Pro and Xbox One X, i needed to finally make the jump into a 4K TV, after researching, i never found a TV small enough for 4K, i had to get a gaming monitor capable of 4K, this was the one for me after a shipping mishap w/ USPS i finally got it (Not amazons fault). Keep in mind and beware that this monitor advertises 3 HDMI slots, BUT ONLY 1 is HDMI 2.0 which can carry 4K. not a big deal, that is why they made these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0783GTZX3/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 (This one was perfect and works with the monitor) The picture is clear, I played online games like COD with no issues with the screen. I wanted something not too small, but not a 40inch TV just to have 4K, 28 is perfect for my set up. really glad I went with this model.

3 months of having this monitor i have a Vertical line going down the left side of my screen. not sure what to do with it at this point then other call up Asus. this monitor was to replace ANOTHER asus monitor that arrived DOA Update: Called Asus support to have it RMA. they do NOT cover shipping cost, and due to the size of the monitor it came to a total of $137 Dollars to ship it to them. Which will take 5 buissness days, their turn around is 5-7 business days and another 5-7 business days to ship it back. This is absolutely unacceptable for a monitor at this price. 500 dollar monitor to be defective within 3 months of use and another 137 to SHIP it to them to get fixed. I will never buy an Asus product again.

Lets face it. A great CPU and a top of the line graphics card are useless without a good monitor. This is one Excellent Monitor!!! Larger visual area than my old 24". Pleasant surprise. Not too big for my desk, nor too small for my over the shoulder friends and kids watching. I recently purchased a stand alone CPU (HP Omen Cube) pushing the Radeon RX 480 Graphics card, which was new to me. It boosted about its "Freesync" capability, which I had never heard of. So began my research. Simply put... Freesync makes your monitor refresh at the same rate as your GPU is putting out frames. In other words it does a great job of eliminating visual tears and ghosting images. Super smooth display, even at the max settings. (3840 x 2160) Since they always match up, the game/ computer display looks a lot smoother. For those that dont fully understand, 3840 x 2160 is 4 times the pixels of your full HD 1080p displays. (Remember the difference 1080p made, compared to your old tube televisions?) WOW! So basically, you get more detailed images. Thus I shopped around, finding several monitors that took advantage of this new tech. I settled upon ASUS, due to their longer than usual warranty {36 months). Narrowing down my choices to 27" or 28" Monitors. The MG28U was constantly mentioned and highly praised as a stable and complete gaming type monitor. The 90 degree tilt feature was actually a surprise. Turned it by accident, watching my display react accordingly! Nice! The base is very stable and weighted, minimizing its shake on my desk surface. 4K is the only way! The display is seamless! Go ahead... try to find pixels. The MG28U is plug and play. Very simple to connect and offers the latest in connectability, including a 60Hz refresh rate and native 4K UHD support via DisplayPort 1.2. (Im using the DisplayPort to enable the freesync ability) Flawless!!! The unit also sports a 5-Way OSD Joystick as the main input controller, to select and activate the monitors menus. Nice touch because this makes the OSD menus and screen adjustments easy to work, even from the front. No need to go around the back anymore. Im very happy with this purchase. Prime delivery was perfect. Arrived as scheduled. Very well packaged. Assembly was easy. Quality construction. Rich display. Even my subscription streamed movies and shows look better than on my television display. Im actually thinking of buying 2 more and going for the big 3x side-by-side display, for the ultimate gaming setup. No negatives to speak of. Great product, Long warranty, Quality construction. Would and will buy again. Added 9/05/17- Still purring like a kitten with the roar of a Lion. The auto updates are coming in at a rate of 1 every 2 weeks. Accepting this as a positive sign, because its better to seed ASUS working behind the scenes with software fixes, then not. Learning more about the settings. Personal note: The auto dimming adjustment is as bothersum as it is on my cellphone. Better to keep a nice rich brightness level then watch it dim in a dark room. Still giving it 5 stars. Ill post pics when my game room is finished. Added 12/08/17 - Starting to become annoyed at an intermitant issue with my screen suddenly going blank. For whatever reason and unfortunately right in the middle of usage, my screen will just go blank. Happens at random intervals. BUt very annoying. It spans from days to a couple of times in the same day. Simple to fix with a reboot but should never happen in the first place. Never had this issue with any other monitor. Love the image quality still buty when youre working on something important and your screen just decides to go blank, itll tend to piss you of if you loss your projects work. Not getting worse but not getting better either. ASUS needs to fix this issue.

This was part of a few upgrades I bought and my first true gaming monitor.... This purchase was entirely worth it. This was my first monitor at this refresh rate and resolution.... I almost cried when I first got it hooked up. Things I thought looked good before now looked completely jaw dropping. I will go back and replay a few games JUST to see them on this monitor. Other than gaming I do a lot of digital art. This is amazing or that as well. The refresh rate lets me see my cursor better as I draw and paint with the Wacom Intous tablet. The colors are so bright and vivid. Most times if Im painting something random I just set it my canvas size to 2560 x 1440 and full screen it. Going from a 23in pleb LED monitor to THIS beast was a move I needed to make. The base has a nice height adjustment range for me and is nice and heavy. Through a couple fits of "OH COME ON HOW THE HELL DID THAT HIT ME!?" rage the monitor has not budged on my stand.

Ordered two. Arrived quickly with no damage. One was DOA, the other was fine. One was to replace a much older Asus; the other would have replaced my LG27UD8 so that I would have 2 matching side by side, and move the LG to another room. The one that worked was set about as bright as it would go out of the box, but contrast was poor no matter how I configured it. Compared to LG 27UD8 (granted a bit more expensive but more than a year old) there is a very clear difference in black level - particularly black text on a white screen. By comparison the Asus looked washed out and everything seemed to glow, making text difficult to read. Amazon took care of replacing the DOA unit (Thanks Amazon!) but I sent the other back because it just didnt perform anywhere close to the LG. Had both worked out of the box maybe my perception would have been different, but as it is there was too much of a performance gap to keep both monitors side by side. Love Asus, and Ill continue to buy their components regularly, but unfortunately this one really missed the mark - its a textbook example of a products stellar specs not necessarily resulting in higher quality output.

Buy it! Ive had the Asus ROG Swift 24, Asus MX279H, Samsung CF591 curved monitor and the LG27UD58. This is the best by far especially for console/PC or just console or PC. The color accuracy is phenomenal and the picture is the best Ive seen when displaying below 4k as well. That may sound small but what you will rapidly notice on 4k displays is that non-native 4k images tend to look very soft. Not here! Its very, very, marginally, to the point of most likely indiscernible to the average enthusiast slower response time wise to the "premium branded" ROG Swift monitor all while having an IPS panel. The panel (IPS) bleed is a non-issue as blacks and contrast are still as good as my high end Sony TV panel and MILES ahead of LGs pseudo 4k panel (google the 3k LG27UD58 and youll see what I mean). It was yellow all over. The only con is.... dont buy it for the speakers. The Samsungs speakers were not just better, they were surprisingly good to the point of being better than a lot of TVs. The wrap up, this is the best 4k monitor if you dont need/want G-Sync or only do color accurate work (see Dell Ultrasharp for that) under $500 full stop. I use it with a mid-end gaming PC and a PS4 Pro on Windows 10.

I loved the excellent quality of the monitor. I am by no means an expert, but the color and brightness were top notch compared to other monitors Ive tested. Nothing beats IPS when it comes to rich colors and after all, were looking at our games and game worlds so dont you want to see the most vibrant colors and environments? After using TN, VA, and IPS, I will never purchase another VA or TN monitor and their crappy washed out colors. I think most gamers dont really know what they are missing. Really the only reason you should be playing on a TN is if you are a competitive e-Sports titles player and have to have that super low GtG response time. Otherwise go IPS! Anyway, this thing: the stand is very sturdy and well built with no wobbling like Ive gotten with other monitors. I liked the ergonomics of it, didnt need a VESA mount or monitor stand, was able to get it in the perfect position with its included stand and adjustment features. Now to the con, which is a big one for me. The monitor is now 2 year old tech but it remains a full priced $500 monitor. At this price point, its not a good value for the money and especially due to this: its free sync range is only active in 45-90hz. That doesnt mean you can set the monitor to 144hz and it will kick in at that range. If you do, it will disable Freesync. That mean you have to set your 144hz monitor to 75 or 90. Dumb, right? What is the point of dropping $500 on a 2k 144hz monitor that cant use Freesync above 90hz? I dont see it. Sure, if your GPU can peg 2k in the newest AAA games at over 100-120 FPS consistently, mabye you dont need Freesync anyway. But what about those time when you get FPS dips down into the 50-60s? There is a hack for it to extend the range. I tried it, and could not tell if the hack worked or not and was very uncomfortable having to hack a monitor that costs $500. There are a couple other 2K 144hz IPS monitors out there that dont have that Freesync limitation and are also less expensive, so I couldnt justify the expense and returned this monitor. I considered giving four stars, but I dont see why ASUS couldnt update this model with a full Freesync range up to 144hz like Acer has...so three it is.

I love my new monitor. Going from 1920 x 1080 to this was a huge change for me. The color difference, and the size difference was night and day making me regret not getting two of the same. I scouted this particular monitor from PartPicker and thats how I stumbled across this, but my friends informed me I couldve gotten the same for cheaper elsewhere which upset me but its too late. I have this one. The only gripe I have with this now is the price point. $500 is nothing to turn your nose up at for one monitor especially when you are looking into having a multiple monitor setup. If youre looking for a good monitor, this would be *a* choice but probably not *the* choice. It *is* beautiful. Its slim, the buttons on the side are very nice, especially the setting that changes your colors for different "modes" eg scenery, cinema, racing etc. Its easy to navigate. Would I recommend this? Only if you have the money to spare/spoil yourself. BUT after doing more research for other options as well. Would *I* buy it again? Probably not.

I decided to opt-into buying this monitor after struggling to figure out what I wanted. I play video games as a hobby but Im looking into graphic design for employment, so picture quality was something I was keen on getting right the first time. Ive never owned something aside from a hand me down $100 TN 60Hz monitor before this. Pros: - Fantastic picture - No dead pixels out of the box - Large display size - Ships with MiniDisplay Port to Display Port cable, Power Cable, HDMI Cable, USB 3.0 Data Cable (MiniDisplay cable easily supports the refresh rate.) Cons: -Just be aware that lower to mid rigs might need to have their game graphics adjusted if youre used to rendering images on a 1080p resolution. - Large footprint and back panel, just in case you have a thin desk or monitor riser. Other Notes: - Noticing a motion blur between everything I do now? Not sure if its the monitor myself, or if its my eyes trying to adjust to how fast things move on the screen. (i.e. moving windows and scroll menus around) - Speakers arent superb in quality but thats not something to really be worried about. Overall, highly recommended if youre willing to accept the larger price. Might be even more worth it on a sale. Very pleased with this purchase. Putting this review out there for new monitor buyers.
