I purchased this monitor less than a year ago. Approximately 1 week ago the screen turned Amber. I contacted Acer support. The rep tried 1 reset and immediately said I would need to package, insure and ship to them. I asked for additional options to troubleshoot, she said this was the only one listed. I was also advised the shipping would be on me and it would take weeks. I asked for a manager to discuss situation and was told no one was available. Yet she was talking to the manager. I asked for the manager to contact me and was advised they do not do that. Needless to say I will not be purchasing future Acer products nor recommend them due to the horrible customer service not to mention the product did not last a year and has a 3 year warranty. The star is only because it is required to post

Bought the 21.5 inch. Does not come with HDMI cord or HDMI input whatsoever. I double checked the reviews to make sure it had an HDMI input and cord. Lo and behold, those reviews were for the 24-inch. Now I have to find an HDMI to VGA adapter or DVI or whatever. Why isnt this listed as two different items if they are indeed two different items? I thought the 21.5 inch would just be a smaller version, not something completely different devoid of HDMI input. Ugh.

WARNING TO CONSUMERS: This Acer S241HL EMD 24" widescreen LCD monitor was a complete waste of my money- and I write this review so it will not be a complete waste of yours. I purchased this on April 9, 2017, and it worked beautifully until today, October 19, 2017. Today I boot up my PC to find this monitor has dimmed significantly and has the same eye damaging horizontal black streaks running across it that caused me to replace my last monitor- which lasted about 24 months. The only reason I gave it one star is because ACER offers a significantly noticeable malfunction and does not just fade over the course of a year like my last LED monitor did and the corporate Goliath, Amazon has shipping as fast as lightening. Unfortunately cheap electronics that do not last and liter up our earth are the new norm for the consumer of this global economy, where small business competition has been eradicated. this new global biz model is not surprising considering theyre assembled by underpaid people in slave labor nations from substandard design using inferior materials in order to keep the greed driven corporate monopolists and their "investors" making a few hundred bucks off each PC user every year or two. These completely "legal" but highly unethical business practices have been working beautifully for the corporate giants and their investors who have set it up like this; but the inconvenience of everything braking so fast and the job / money losses have severely adversely affected tens of millions of Americans finances... But if these corporate monopolist dark ages must go on with no light, let it be known, I would personally prefer paying twice as much for electronics that lasted twice as long- simply because of the time I must forfeit finding a better one next time and the garbage it creates for our landfills.

This thing just up and died on me the other day. I loved it before then but whats the point of having a nice monitor that drops dead for no reason? To their credit they give you a 3 year warranty so I am going to be able to send it to them and get it repaired but they are charging me for the cost of sending a big relatively heavy package to them. At the post office even light boxes are expensive to shop if they are long. Luckily I kept the original box (and this is why I tend to keep boxes) which will save some money but I don’t have time to deal with this right now and I dont know when I will have time to box it up and ship it out. I already spent some time on the phone with Acer and they were professional but it was ½ hour of my valuable time I would have used to earn money with. In the meantime I dont have a monitor. Then they will send it back to me with the broken component fixed but I worry that something else will break on it now because I think these are cheaply made and that’s just my theory for why this happened. I will never buy another Acer again even if they fix this. I recommend other buyers to avoid Acer like the plague and buy a better quality brand. Sony is too expensive but maybe something in the middle of the reliability spectrum like I don’t even know what I would get but not Acer.

Randomly enters Burn In mode and cycles through colors. There is a message that appears on the screen telling you to press "MENU and RIGHT to Burn In Off" but pressing (or pressing and holding) Menu and Right doesnt exit this mode. No documentation from Acer on how to deal with this, so you basically have to Google through docs for lots of other monitors and try their burn mode escape sequences until you finally get it to work again. This will be approximately 5 minutes before you throw the monitor out a second story window. Other than that the display is fine. Well, except for the fact that the speakers are so quiet as to be completely useless. UPDATE 11/1/2017: Every time I hook my laptop up, it takes 10 minutes of fiddling to get the display to work, and today it randomly lost all the color settings and looks all weird. In my home office, I sit beside a second story window -- every morning I want to throw this monitor out of it.
