I wouldve started this review with 5 stars, but my experience with this product quickly detoriated. The monitor at first is not bad. Its a good picture with great color quality at 144hz. However, its like Acer designed a product that cant handle its own power. If you look through the Amazon reviews, youll see a consistent story of monitors overheating and going out. This monitor would probably do fine at 60hz, but when pushed to 144hz for too long, it breaks. I started getting vertical colored lines about 6 months after having the monitor. From what Ive read, this is an indicator of a failing monitor, and its only a matter of time before it completely goes out. Fortunately, for me, it was still under warranty, so I paid Fedex $75 to have the monitor shipped back to Acer. However just getting to that point involves going through the Acer Customer Service hotline, and let me tell you, their customer service is an absolute joke! First, its about a 50/50 chance that youll get someone who even speaks English. From there, anticipate being put on hold after every sentence that you say. The one thing Ill give Acer credit for is honoring my warranty, but after the repairs were complete, they shipped it back to the wrong address! Getting that issue taken care of has been the biggest pain in the whole process. So far, Ive talked to 4 different customer service reps and spent about 3 hours on hold over a 3 day period. Save yourself the headaches and spend an extra $50 getting a reliable monitor thats even better quality. This one isnt worth it.

Be wary of this monitor, right out of the box I had issues with the power supply, having to twist the input this way and that to get it to turn on. Eventually you can get it, but moving the monitor at all means another round of getting the cable just right. Finally the monitor just died on me and never came back on, was charged about 40$ to ship it out to Acer to have them repair it, but the issue with the power supply has persisted. Very disappointed.

Wouldnt normally give 1 star for a defective product since you usually can work it out with the seller, but Acer customer service was legitimately unreachable (was on hold for 40 minutes before I gave up). Amazon tech support was unhelpful as well, so Im just going to return this and get an Asus. The issue was a black display, no matter what. Windows was able to detect the monitor fine and I could even do stuff like adjust its refresh rate, but the monitor still showed no display. Tried updating the driver but there were none available for Windows 10. Can only conclude that the display was broken, its OS incompatible (seemed to work for other Windows 10 users though), or Ive had too many shrooms.

I originally purchased the 144Hz ACER GN246HL to replace my 60Hz Asus VS228H-P/VS228 21.5-Inch computer monitor for gaming, specifically PUBG. The old Asus monitor had better picture quality and sharpness than this new ACER GN246HL that I purchased. After much frustration and time spent messing with settings, I found out that I had to download and apply the ability to use NVIDIA 3D light boost to make it look somewhat better. This thing strains my eyes and makes it really hard to focus in the game when I need to have a clear picture. It just does not put out a sharp screen at all no matter how much I mess with the settings or try to calibrate it. I can duplicate my monitor screens on the ASUS and ACER and I notice a significant difference in the picture quality and much more prefer my old monitor. I wish I were able to return this monitor, Im deeply disappointed in this thing and I really wanted it to work out. These picture quality issues are replicated on both the PC and a XBOX ONE X. I am running a GeForce 1050Ti and AMD-8320 CPU with this monitor, there is no excuse for the picture issues. I will be purchasing a new monitor. Update: I upgraded my CPU to i7-8700k and to a GeForce GTX 1070 graphics card. Monitor still looks pretty fuzzy/blurry with ghosting problems. Acer Customer support isn’t very helpful and they want me to pay shipping for their bad product to be checked out by their staff.
