This was my experience with HDMI connected to a laptop. Review of the 31.5 inch monitor. Whenever I turn on the computer it takes several attempts of turning on the monitor for it to actually display anything other than a black screen. The display lags. LAGS. I can play a video on YouTube or Twitch and on my laptop the video will be playing smoothly but on the monitor, itll freeze after a few seconds. Only when I move my mouse over the video will it resume playing (from where it is currently, not from where it froze). When I stop moving my mouse, it will freeze again after a few seconds. Obviously I dont want to move my mouse constantly to watch anything. I play some League of Legends and the frame rate will be super choppy while silky smooth on the laptop. The frame rate is syncd to 60 due to the refresh rate (and this laptop by itself can push 150+ FPS on League) so theres no reason it should be so choppy. The frame rate in the game itself does not drop below 60 FPS yet still turns choppy so its definitely the monitor. The inbuilt speakers for the monitor are so bad its not even worth reviewing BUT whenever I put my computer to sleep, the monitor will do some sort of muffled "boompf" from my own speakers that are connected to the monitor. Its not loud enough to give you hearing loss or anything but it is noticeable and I worry that this garbage fire of a monitor may actually be damaging my speakers whenever I turn my computer off. My old 32 inch TV was in every single way better for gaming than this gaming monitor. Perhaps this monitor would do better on a desktop PC (mine isnt here at the moment so I cannot test it) and may be better with a VGA/DVI port instead of HDMI but my laptop doesnt support it. Do not recommend. Save your money and time (and possibly your speakers). Will try to get a refund for this useless screen.

EDIT 1: Speakers do not work with mine. I dont personally care, I hate Acers monitor speakers, but that will bother other people Im positive. This wouldve been a 4-star monitor otherwise. Edit 2: When Freesync is enabled, flickering occasionally occurs. Black, vertical lines move up/down the screen super flash periodically. Started occuring about a month in. Pros: + Curved design isnt overwhelming. + Good colors (after optimization) + 144hz is astounding compared to my previous 60hz and 75hz monitors. + Decent physical size + Extremely sleek design Cons: - Horrible color and lighting out of the box. Requires a lot of fine-tuning, but can look great. (Some setup help after cons) - Stand is subpar. Screen wobbles consistently while typing. - Inputs are in an odd place on the back of the monitor. Cords stick outwards instead of downwards like most other monitors. - No place for cable management on the stand. Extras: In order to get the best out of this monitor, you have to turn off the following settings: - Black Boost (In Picture) - Super Sharpness (In Picture) - Over Drive (in Gaming) The rest is up to your discretion. I will be updating this review if, like others, have issues with dead pixels, screen flickering, etc. So far, Ive not experienced either.

So I ordered this and within 10 minutes of setting it up, I notice dead pixels. I contacted Amazon, and they sent out a replacement. I figured I received a bad one. Well, today, I received the replacement and once again, dead pixels. I dont know how many of these end up with dead pixels, but I warn people to stay away from this one. If it werent for the dead pixels, it would have been a great monitor. But unfortunately, the quality isnt there.

This has a really nice appearance and screen is beautiful. Problem is i accidentally dropped my phone on my desk and it hit the corner of the screen. Within minutes after a small portion of the screen went dead the entire screen started going out until every single pixel disappeared. Thought I did the right thing on the front end and bought a squaretrade warranty. I thought something like this would be covered because it caused dead pixels, but using the word accident waived the warranty. I should have paid closer attention to what plan I purchased. That falls on me. I still dont understand how quickly this thing died after bumping the corner of the screen. Like I said, beautiful monitor and screen but not durable what so ever. I wouldnt have imagined this happening. Bought end of June headed to tash heap beginning of September...

27" 144Hz ED273 Have had this monitor a few days and I do like it but it is a pain to setup color wise. I had to turn "Black Boost off" set it to movie go to Radeon settings and set contrast to 96 Saturation to 110. Power draw: 60 to 120 Hz GPU idle draw is 7 to 8w. The moment you use 144Hz it goes to 22 - 23w. That is a driver issue and does the same thing when VSR is on. Get a little flicker when not gaming but that too is a driver issue and AMD knows. Monitor seems to improve as you use it, from my experience. May need a few days of burn in time or something.

I purchased this monitor on Black Friday because of its excellent value proposition but there are some important factors to consider before purchasing this monitor. For the money, you are getting a curved 1440p VA panel that supports Freesync from 48-144hz which is an excellent value. The stand only supports tilt adjustments so it’s not great but if you need more adjustments the VESA mount compatibility is a big plus. For me the two main downsides are 1) the size and 2) the brightness. First, I understand that the 32” screen size is part of this monitor’s allure, but that also means larger pixels. If you sit with your face less than three feet away from your monitor I would consider purchasing a 27” 1440p monitor because the pixels will be noticeable. Second, and I wish it was listed on this product page, at 250 nits, this monitor does not get very bright so if you’re used to using a 350nit monitor at its max brightness you will notice that difference as well. If those two things aren’t an issue for you, then this monitor is a great buy.

This 144hz VA 1920x1080 monitor is great for everything a gamer and productivity user would need. The colors are great, the angles are okay, and the build of the monitor just is the icing on the cake. This monitor measures in at 2 feet long and 1 1/2 feet tall, it has great port selection that includes, HDMI2.0, DVI, and Display Port along with a audio jack. The curv on the monitor can really only be noticed when your first get the monitor. The bezels" *end of LCD basically* measure in at around 4mm on the top and sides. The monitors bottom bezel is this amazing flat black with a silver acer logo, but the back is plastic. This monitor supports a vesa mount and comes with a nice but slightly disappointing stand. Id recommend this monitor for sure! The only downsides i see to my monitor is this slight goasting effect on the edges of the display. PS if your stuck on a TN or VA screen get a VA screen. TN has terrible viewing angles as bad as some phones i had in the early 2000s. **2018 update** I have been using this monitor for almost a full year now and i have to say its one of the best monitors i have owned, there are some gripes i have with the display panel itself and some weird ui and software limitations i dislike but truthfully overall this monitor is an amazing purchase for those of you on a budget. The downsides of this monitor are limited but they still are noticeable things such as light bleed around the edges and yellowing to the right side of the display. The glossy plastic on the back of the display is just a fingerprint magnet and scratches easier then anything i have.

So far everything is working and arrived in good shape. At first glance I will admit I wasnt sure it was curved. I have a Samsung Curve and their curve has a bit more bend to it, alright on to the actual review. NOT DOA - whew (my box had serious gouges from what looked like a sharp metal corner in several spots), no dead pixels either... Im winning at this point. Assembly was a cake walk, pulled it out and plugged right into the stand with a single screw (decent quality). Both the monitor and mount are light, the screen is easy to adjust from a forward/reverse swivel at the base. The button on the back (stick) is easy to use. Ive seen comments that its finicky but honestly my Samsung has a similar selection stick - so I didnt find any issues. This does work with G-Sync or FreeSync - just so you all know - Nvidia came out back in January of 2019 and made more of their monitors universal. Once I had the Nvidia Control Panel up and running (had to update GPU drivers before Win10 would see it) - getting performance and refresh up to 120hz was a few clicks and done. If you want 144hz you will simply have to right click on the background of your desktop - go to display - select the monitor - advanced setting - set refresh to 144hz. I have not played with color tuning just yet, Ive only had the monitor for about 3 days and this was the last item I needed before I built my PC. I plan to play with the colors later and will re-review in a few months. I havent put any games through the ringer on it due to a mobo - m.2 drive issue (thats another review) but I did do a few CPU Bench Mark tests and once the refresh rate was fixed I was wizzing around between 189 - 320 fps on high details. If you use the G-sync you lose fps in order to prevent the tearing - just be aware. I will give a 5th star if it rates one or take one later if something happens - 4 stars is just the highest I will give at this point. If youre trying to decide on size or this one, I can say I was there. 24" is plenty for me. Leaves me with room to expand if I want to, plenty of mount/keyboard room and tower on desk. Great bang for the buck Cons - Ill let you know.

This is a review for the black 27" Curved 144 Hz FreeSync variant when priced at $255. This monitor is an amazing value for the money. Please take any negative reviews about it with a grain of salt. In the following review Ill attempt to be as thorough as possible without giving potential costumers an exceedingly long read. Ive been using it for a little more than a week at the time of writing this review. I read other user reviews, and they seem to complain about aspects like the lackluster speakers. This is a monitor, most dont include speakers at all. Users are somewhat expected to use their own set of desktop speakers or headphones, even more since this monitor is marketed for gaming. The included headphone jack is not amazing, but it will drive most low impedance headphones just fine. Its a nice addition that Acer could have easily omitted. The curve is subtle and easy to get used to at this size. Mine had no dead pixels upon arrival. I did have to do quite a bit of color tweaking though. The image temperature was set to a warm preset out of the box, and even after setting it to the "Normal" profile, the image displayed was still a bit warm. I have included color correction settings used for my particular display in the pictures included with this review. Take into consideration that all panels are different, and my settings will probably differ from what youll have to use for proper color reproduction. I did not use a hardware calibrator, but after having owned plenty of factory calibrated monitors, I have gotten pretty good at eyeballing it. Regardless, this is a VA display, and I wouldnt recommend doing any color sensitive work on it. The speakers really are quite bad, but at least theyre there for any emergency. The contrast is stellar. It beat a 49" IPS LG TV handily. Now I want to replace the TV since its contrast is unsatisfactory in comparison to this monitor. I did not notice much backlight bleeding except when in a completely dark room and very dark scenes (black loading screens, etc). I have also included a picture as an example of the amount of backlight bleed. The picture was taken with an exposure time of 1 second, aperture of 1.8, and ISO of 800 in a VERY dark room, So the backlight bleed effect is exaggerated. In person, the effect is minimal and non detrimental to the experience. Now, regarding the high refresh rate; the monitor includes an HDMI 2.0 cable and a DP cable in the box. It doesnt include or need any drivers. When connecting it to my RX 580, the display was automatically recognized and properly configured for 144 Hz use. I did have to restart my whole computer for FreeSync to be recognized and enabled, but I have not run into any other obstacles as of yet (Remember to enable FreeSync in the AMD Control Panel, and go to every games settings and tweak the monitor refresh rate and max FPS!). As you would expect from a 144 Hz panel, the movement is buttery smooth and fluid. Input lag is around 10-20 ms, using some DIY tools I built, so its within acceptable range. My calculation can be wrong, so please excuse any inaccurate readings. However, there was no input lag that I felt hindered my experience. Pixel response times are as advertised; with motion blur being minimal and basically a non-issue. FreeSync works at its range of 48 to 144 FPS, for which I capped all of my games using MSI Afterburner for system monitoring and Rivatuner for the OSD and capping the framerate to 144 to stay within the FreeSync range. The On Screen Display is average for monitors these days, but still far better than most at this price range. I did find the control stick to be a little stiff and hard to press, but once you setup your monitor your interaction with it should be minimal. All around its an amazing monitor and probably quite the upgrade for many people. I absolutely recommend it for anyone whos not yet experienced 144 Hz gaming. (Warning, you get used to it very quickly, and then even 60 FPS will look like crap). The ONLY problem Ive had with the monitor is intermittent turning on and off of the display when waking up the PC after sleep or turning it on. Ive found a workaround, which is turning off the monitor completely when not in use, making sure AutoSource is turned OFF in the monitor settings, or holding the power button to turn it off and turning it back on when you encounter the problem. Lastly, the aesthetics are very pleasing and elegant. It does not scream "GAMER!" at everyone who sees it, and that might be a positive thing for many users (it certainly was for me). Sadly, Acer decided to use glossy plastic for the rear of the monitor instead of a matte finish, so that might be a negative if the monitor wont be facing a wall. The monitor stand is plastic with a metal base, which makes it rather sturdy and holds the weight properly with minimal screen wobble. Unfortunately the stand only supports backwards and forwards tilt, with no support for left and right swivel, rotation or height adjustment. This can be forgiven, considering the price. It DOES, however, include VESA mount compatibility. The bezels are nice and thin, with only about 8 millimeters from pixel to edge, with an elegant chin and a chrome Acer logo. The power indicator is a non-intrusive blue LED placed in the lower right corner. The screen is coated matte which prevents reflections and glare, but hurts color accuracy and vibrancy a little bit. In conclusion, this monitor is a very good sweet spot for performance and features vs. price. Im actually considering purchasing another two of them, since the curve is nice and the bezels thin. The included pictures for this review were taken with an LG V20 in manual mode, with varying settings to accommodate what was trying to be shown. The wide shot of the desk is to give an idea of the size it takes up in a desk. The second is to represent color and contrast. The third and fourth pictures are references to other parts of the review. All pictures were taken with the monitor at 50% brightness in a somewhat dark room unless stated that it was completely dark (backlight bleed example). I truly hope this review has been helpful, and happy gaming!
