I would like to first start off by stating that I love Razer products. Writing this review pains me because my previous generation RB15 was flawless. This one has missed the mark by a long shot. Why? Two words: Coil Whine. I encourage anyone and everyone who is reading this review to go on razer’s subreddit and check out the forums on notebookreview. There are a plethora of RTX users who are experiencing massive amounts of coil whine, some to the point in which they had to return their devices 2-3 times. I personally have given up after replacing my device here on amazon twice. Amazon was more than accommodating / willing to send me a replacement and for that, I am grateful for their service. Aside from the coil whine, everything about both Razer Blades was perfect and sound. I just wished the machine didn’t exhibit coil whine. Hopefully this will be solved in a later-down-then-line update. It might have been a bad batch, I am unsure at this point. Anyways, as of now (02/12/2019) I have left two stars. The reason why it is two stars is because Amazon kicked butt in regards to sending out a replacement in a timely fashion. Update (02/13/2019): Razer has sent me a replacement laptop at breakneck speed. Thank you so much! It arrived today and unfortunately, the same coil whine issue is there. In fact, the coil whine in this machine is considerably worse than the coil whine in the previous machine I owned. I personally cannot recommend the RTX line of Razer Blade Advanced laptop’s. I highly recommend the GTX line. I will be returning both laptops and getting a refund. I do want to note that I purchased a GS65 2060 model at a different retailer and have NOT expefienced ANY coil whine. Update (02/14/2019): I decided to give Razer ONE last shot before throwing in the towel. I have successfully ordered another replacement from Amazon and should be in tomorrow. Standby. Update (03/22/2019): After spending a month with my 3rd RB15 RTX, I returned it to Amazon and have decided to walk away from the Razer brand entirely. I will share a few key notes in regards to my experience with the RB15noted a few things in regards to the coil whine, my customer service experience and amazon experience. 1. Coil Whine is still present even after a month of testing. The coil whine definitely lessened over time, notably around the 2 week mark of consistent, daily, 1-8 hour usage. The coil whine is still however very noticable in a silent / quiet room. Despite the reduction of said coil wine, I remain disappointed in the 2019 Razer Blade 15 line due to the fact that during the month I had my 3rd RB15 RTX, I tested an RTX based GS65, GS75, and an RTX based Aero 15 X9. Not ONE of these laptops produced any major coil whine while under normal/intended use. 2. My customer service experience soely with Razer was terrible. I reached out to them directly via email, reddit (where they reached out to me) and via their customer service line. Not only was I given the "go around", but they also were very ignorant, tone deaf and quite frankly condencending to me when I was clear and concice about the issues pertaining to all 3, $2600 USD laptops. No one should have to go through what I had to go through, especially if they are paying over 2.5K. I had a reddit post up complaining about the coil whine and the moderators on the Razer subreddit actively were shadow hiding / removing replies from my post. This post had over 100 upvotes and over 50 comments. Nearly all the comments were from legitimate users who experienced the same coil whine issues as I, in conjunction with other issues (light bleed, keyboard damage, fan damage etc). I read that Razer was known for shadow removing posts and comments on their subreddit in the past, however I didnt choose to believe it. Well, I can definitely say that is the case. My posting is gone and the comments / posts on it are gone as well. Because of this, Razer has permanently lost a customer. 3. My customer service experience with Amazon was fantastic! Amazon, Amazon, Amazon, Amazon! Not only was Amazon very gracious and accomodating during this experience, they offered me a gift card for my troubles after returning my 3rd (and final) Razer Blade laptop. I didnt even think about asking nor did I even feel as if it was Amazons fault. Needless to say, Amazon will continue to recieve my business while Razer has permnantly lost a customer. For those asking: I currently have settled with the Gigabyte Aero 15 X9 2070-MQ, i9-8950HK FHD IPS 144Hz laptop and it has far surpassed my expecations. No coil whine, no major lightbleed or IPS glow, no weird creaking, sounds or bad build quality, no trackpad issues (windows precision based trackpad now) and NO keyboard issues whatsoever. This thing is rock solid out of the box. I have had a consistent, positive experience with this laptop. Looks like I am switching to Gigabyte!

This laptop has been as good as I expected from watching reviews of the GTX versions. The build quality is about as good as a Mac Book Pro and the track-pad is the best I have ever used on a Windows machine. One of the first things I did when I received it was I took it apart and replaced the m.2 SSD with a 1TB Samsung 970 pro. The whole process was easy and while I was in there I took a minute to look around at the internal build quality, it was impressively impeccable. It has been able to handle multiple games easily, including the Anthem demo this weekend. It has provided smooth and consistent game play without the fans getting too loud. The fans are audible if you have the sound off or very low, but it is not an obnoxious sound like some laptop fans can be. I only have one negative thing to say so far and that is that it is a fingerprint magnet. I am kind of crazy about keeping my things clean and it is driving me a little mad, but I have some Dbrand skins coming that will at least take care of the outside, and cover up the Razer logo (they seriously need to re-design their logo). I think anyone who is looking for a high-quality, premium, powerful yet portable laptop will be happy with one of these.

Razers Quality Control is non existent. Everyone I have been sent has one issue or another. From cosmetic issues with the anodizing, scratches, and chips. Bad track pad on one and the last one wont power on. So if you dont mind a few chips or scratches on you brand new laptop than Razer is the brand for you. Not even close to Apple quality. Im not impressed.

Bought this the day they became available with the RTX graphics. Let me say that the design and overall materials used for this laptop are superior. I upgraded the RAM to 32 GB as well. Super fast and powerful. Only drawback I find is the thermal design, I think it gets too hot when you play at full power. It does not bother your hands but the top of the laptop gets really hot even intolerable to the touch. However, I have not had a gaming laptop in more than 15 years so my experience in that area is not extensive to know if that is normal, which I think it makes sense. All that power in such a small laptop has to produce a lot of heat. The fans can be configured and you can increase the speed to lower the heat, and it does work. Overall great buy so far. A little warning about the gaming code for Anthem/Battlefield, it is not included if you dont buy from Razer.com per their terms and conditions. I didnt care since I bought the laptop with the Amex prime business that gives points.cash back so Im covered there. So if you want the free games, you have to buy from razer.com.

Im currently in the process of replacing my RTX 2060 version. Ive tried to keep it but after ~3 days of use the coil whine just got worse and worse. Ive tried to talk with Razer rep but they just seem to be buying time for my 30day replacement period to end, because they arent giving me any useful information and just asking same question over and over again. anyways I didnt mind the coil whine while gaming, because the fan noise mask it anyways! The fans sound like jet taking off btw, which i dont expected for a gaming laptop this thin. BUT MY MAIN ISSUE was that it coil whined loudly when you first turn on the laptop, during windows log in screen, during idling with nothing on and just browsing the web or typing up word document!! I really hesitated replacing it because I know amazon likes to ban people that "abuse" return policies but this is not acceptable for a laptop that costs well over 2grand USD. I will update this once I get my replacement... update: Got my replacement after a week later. I dont hear the coil whining as much but this replacement unit has way more backlight bleeding than the previous one.. I will just keep this one because Im tired of replacing/returning/waiting.. I honestly cant recommend this laptop to anyone (if it were 600 dollars cheaper then sure), just take it from my mistake and look elsewhere.

Pros: 1. light(compare to other gaming laptop) 2. Good quality build! 3. Good looking 4. Touch pad is good! 5. Good for media consumption and paper work. 6. decent amount of battery life. Cons: 1. Internal quality problem.(such as coil whine) 2. Thermal (ex. For playing witcher 3) 3. Charging block. (Have little noise) 4. you have to pay thinest tax, and razer tax! Over all: Good laptop if you dont have a issue. Remarks: This is my third order of Razer blade 15 RTX 2070 MAX q since first one has audible coil whine. When down loading something, or when you are swipe up and down the menu, you can hear annoying sound. When you set the power mode as a Razer core(?) mode, without swiping your pad, you can still hear it. hopefully 3rd one got no issue with that.

Install Flash Player I do like this laptop. I also own last gen 2018 Blade 1070mq. The rtx is really a step up for this machine. It offers great user experience. TBH, everything seems to be better than last gen except coil whine. I do hear very slightly coil whine from my 1070 laptop, it is acceptable. However, the rtx laptop suffer much louder noise. You do not need to have your ears close to the keyboard before you can hear it clearly. When doing heavy work such as gaming, the situation gets even worse. Razer really need to consider about this issue for sure. Now, I am returning it. I will purchase again to see if this is a isolated issue.

It is a finger print magnet, but you’re attention will be drawn to the magnificent monitor.

Hello all, This laptop is the first generation of gaming laptops that has finally fulfilled the promise to achieve thin, light, high quality build, and high performance devices that wont grossly overheat. The screen has a little bleed at the bottom but is hardly noticeable and is equivocal to the other screens Ive seen on this laptop. The thermals when running games like bfv/1/4 translate to either high 70s/low 80s on the cpu and the gpu pretty much never going beyond 80 degrees with the average being low 70s and high 60s. It is worth noting these temps are 5-8 degrees better than last gen. Undervolting the cpu only improves the temperatures marginally since the cpu at default already has a really efficient synapse driven power limit of 30ish watts to keep it cool while running at 2.7-3.1 GHz on all 6-5 cores. if you mess with wattage/voltage a 35 watt -120V setting provides the best performance and the 25w -130mv setting provides the most cool experience (low - mid 70s). To be honest though, you might want to turn up the fan a bit, as the auto fan will run the machine 2-4 degrees hotter. The gpu is also regularly holding at 1300-1400ish MHz core clock (with a 1500ish MHz when put in gaming mode) and 7000ish MHz memory clock on the 2060 (a solid 100 MHz above the advertised clocks by Nvidia). The screen is bright, and the keyboard is solid despite the low travel and shift key, to which you will adjust to quickly. The build quality is also unparalleled, and windows hello is a nice add on feature. I would totally recommend this laptop if 1) the price hasnt scared you off and 2) If you plan to buy the 2060 version. The 2070 and 2080 versions are only the difference between 100fps in modern titles like bfv, at 1080p ultra (more like 75-80fps 1440p ultra) for the 2060, versus 115/120ish fps 1080p ultra for the 2070/2080. the performance gains are simply just not worth the upcharge for the 2070 and 2080 and the sacrifice of more storage. I hope you feel better informed about this product after reading, and if you have any questions please leave a comment below and I will try to answer promptly. ~GunGuy7899

I’ve cycled thru a lot of performance laptops from work and personal use. I have to say the 2019 RTX Razer Blade takes the crown. Im a very meticulous consumer bordering on obsessive-compulsive, and it took me 5months of constant research and review of all gaming laptops available in 2018, and now 2019. Ive frequented brick and mortar stores to actually see, touch, handle, and test the units, versus just reading specs online and looking at pictures, and taking the words of others. I talk to friends and people with the kind of laptop Im checking out. I wanted to be sure that when I pull the trigger, there will be no buyers remorse - given that Im not looking for a budget laptop and willing to pay the price for something that I really "like" and "want". Need is subjective. I wanted a laptop that does not scream GAMER HERE if you happen to bring it outside and use it for stuff aside from just playing. The Razer Blade fits that requirement. It is very sleek and the materials and design is very classy. It almost has the same vibe of a macbook pro, but in matte black. The monobloc aluminum is as sturdy as it can be, without any flex. You can hold it anywhere and not feel any give or creaks, flex, or whatnots. The large glass trackpad is a joy to use. The screen is vibrant and colors are vivid, they jump at you and are a pleasure to stare at for hours. And wait, did I mention the design? And the Razer chroma lighting is awesome, I wont even attempt to describe it anymore. I love lighting, and when you complement this laptop with the complete plethora of Razer accessories with chroma, the synchronization and effects you can come up with are enough to make you feel you are in your batcave. But this part really just comes as the bonus. Now let me share my thoughts around these points: 1. There will always be folks who will say I could have gotten a very powerful gaming desktop for a whole lot less: - Very true and this argument just won’t die! But I dont need a desktop. I dont want a desktop. I dont like a desktop. I like a sleek-looking laptop that can do work on, do basic PC stuff, and game IF I want to. Id like to be able to minimize space usage, move around the house if I want to play in my dedicated workspace/play area, or bring it downstairs to the living room and play in the dining table just to be around family, or have it with me while watching TV in the living room. Sometimes I just dont want to be isolated, which a desktop does. Or bring it with me anywhere in the house, the country, or the world! Now goodluck with doing all that with a desktop and a monitor and keyboard and mouse and cables and power supply. Just acknowledge that there are people who just want laptop form factor, because probably they don’t intend to just sit all day long in a room on a desktop and just play games. There are other things to do on a computer after all, and lots of places you can possibly do them from. Having the power when you need it, on a form factor that you can carry with one hand is something thats important for some people. 2. There will be people who will say I could have gotten a better or more powerful laptop at a lower price. Why pay the Razer tax?? - That my friends is subjective. For many people, I believe it’s always just about the specs & performance to price ratio. That is not always the case. There are those who value both form and function, aesthetics and make included, regardless of price. Let’s just admit that some people can afford it and price is not really a factor – so my advice is, if you can easily afford the price tagged to this laptop, it is worth it. Call them (us) gullible or senseless or what – but hey, it’s their money, they can afford it, and they like it, and it makes them happy, and the laptop shines, so whats the problem? - For example, In 2018 people were saying go for the MSI GS65 (GTX1070), and all reviews seemed to support that, including youtubers. I almost believed. No offense to MSI GS65 owners, but when I went to Best Buy to already buy it, my first reaction was ARE YOU PEOPLE KIDDING ME? I wanted to drown my disbelief by fooling myself into remembering all the good stuff I read about it. Performance-wise, it might be a beast for many and I don’t challenge that. But man, at the end the look and make of it is just not for me and its hard to fool oneself. It felt like I’m looking at a laptop that came out 10 years ago, the outdated look just isn’t for me. The quality of the plastic is not for me. And the flex, and the creaks when trying to lift it! You can apply light finger pressure anywhere around the surface and you can see it flex and bend and actually feel how flimsy it is. My wife who was with me (with good taste in gadgets) couldn’t believe I was even entertaining to buy that laptop. She gave it a 2 out of 10 from a looks department. Call her vain, but Im just like her, we appreciate nice stuff. The next day I went back to Best Buy with a colleague to get his opinion in case he can convince me to just go for it since I’ve waited too long, one look at it and he gave it a 1 out of 10 from the looks department. Honestly, I gave it a 2. So that’s where it ended and I set my sights back on the Razer Blade. The Asus Zephyrus just had bad backlight bleeding true to the comments I’ve been hearing. Even the display unit in Best Buy had bad backlight bleed when I painted the screen black (mspaint) and viewed it full screen. You see the uneven blacks. So why risk it? 3. People will scream why are you judging laptops based on looks?! Look at the specs and performance! - Because the looks and make is important for me. I’m not looking for cheaper better specs and better performance laptop that looks ugly. I like a laptop that is presentable to carry outside and not be cheesy. Im a grown adult who doesnt want to get caught working on a geeky-cheesy looking laptop in a coffeeshop. I’m looking for one of the best-looking laptops with the power & good specs and performance, even if expensive. Like I said, price is not always an issue. So I end my rant here. To this day, the Razer Blade still remains to be one of the best-looking (non-gamer-look) laptop out there, imho. 4. Some may have noticed it gets hot on top and it gets called out for that: - This is a gaming laptop. What gaming laptop doesn’t get hot with all that 230 Watts power, i7 and RTX 2070 or 2080 hardware in a very slim and small form factor? Even my desktop gets hot, it’s just that people rarely go around feeling their desktop chassis. I like that it gets hot on the outside because it means the heat transference is working and heat is being pulled out to the effect that part of the surface is acting as heatsink extension even if just thru convection. I also like that the heat is dissipated out top, because it means the bottom is colder (relatively) and can be tolerable on your lap. So I find it normal for the laptop to get hot on top, that’s the thermal flow playing out. Some gaming laptops appear cool to the touch on top, but lift it and touch the bottom and thats where all the heat is. So no "lap" -top use for those then. I got the 2019 Razer Blade 15 144hz RTX 2070 512GB SSD, and when I’m not gaming, all my CPU cores are averaging between 40 – 45 Celsius. My GPU at 40 Celsius. When I played Call of Duty on highest settings, after an hour my CPU cores were in the 60 Celsius range and GPU at 65 celsius. When I run android emulators and play android games multi client, my CPU hovers at just around the 50-55 celsius range. Prior to this, I had the 2018 Razer Blade 15 GTX 1070 144hz 512 GB SSD, and doing the same activities as above, I was hitting around nearly 10 degrees more than I’m getting now. So perhaps the RTX series really is more optimized, but I have not gotten to do some really intensive testing yet. And guess what, this 2019 model now comes with WINDOWS HELLO! Such fun to use. It’s been a week now since I got this latest model, and I still have not gotten over the excitement. Typically, after a day or two, any new laptop I have feels like just any other laptop Ive had. This one is taking some time for the feeling to fade. And hey, you need to experience the infrared camera of this laptop - Windows Hello is fun and fast. Like the FaceID of my phone, you get to appreciate it when you stop typing in passwords and pins to log-on. Good job, Razer.
