Liked the laptop at first look. Specs are good and everything seemed alright. Got it delivered in 2 days. First 10 days was amazing, loved using the laptop and how it felt. After that for the first time observed the screen flicker, thought might be some drivers issue. Updated BIOS and Intel graphics VGA driver to the latest versions but the flickering just got bad day by day and annoying. I read some reviews about Yoga 730 and its infamous "Screen flicker" issue before buying it but never thought I would experience get to experience it. Attached a video of the issue in action. Disappointed with the purchase, sending the product back to Amazon. Never buying Lenovo again. I am not even sure of whats triggering the flicker. Tried to troubleshoot the issue but to no avail. Thought it was a software issue updated windows, Bios and display drivers. The display seems like it has its mind of its own, okay in one moment and flickering the other.

Ive had the Yoga 730 for a few days now. It comes with Windows 10 Home, which I have upgraded to Windows 10 Pro. If you want to upgrade through Microsofts Store site the process takes maybe all of ten minutes, provided you have downloaded all the updates for Windows prior to upgrading the OS. That was a pleasant surprise. Since the laptop is a new model, there werent all that many updates for Windows. I was up and running with it in about 30 minutes. Initial set up process is conducted by Cortana and can be accomplished mainly with voice commands (answering Yes or No to most questions). I read another review here saying it came with a lot of bloatware. Thats sort of to be expected with commercially produced products. You can always uninstall the apps, which is what I did. It comes with several online games installed, including Candy Crush, for example. It also comes with a 30-day trial of McAffee. It is annoying in that each time you launch it, it wants to remind you that you only have 30-days to purchase it. If there was an option ot "remind me later" I might have actually used it for a month to see if the software has improved since the last time I used it on a Windows XP machine (and hated it, because it slowed my computer so much). I uninstalled and purchased an extended license for the antivirus Ive been using on my other computers. It also comes with a 30 trial of MS Office. I already have a license for Personal, which applies to 1 PC, 1 Tablet and 1 Cell phone. For the sake of the license a 2 in 1 can be claimed as a PC or a Tablet. Most of what I do with a computer is typing and using Internet applications. The 730 is plenty fast and smooth operating for my purposes. In the past I have always opted to use and external keyboard and mouse, but I find the keyboard on this machine usable. The keystroke action is comfortable and reassuring and it is quiet. The track pad works well enough for times you do not have the operating space for an external mouse, like on an airplane. However, the touch screen is a viable option as well, especially for scrolling through a document. I always thought a touchscreen was kind of silly for a laptop, but Ive changed my mind. It is a little heavy (borderline) to use as a tablet. But that is an option When flipped around to that configuration the keyboard keys are disabled. You can also use it in tent mode or with the screen configured as in the product picture, which is great for viewing movies or using as a tablet on a more vertical plane.

This laptop is an epic failure!!! First about 2 weeks into owning the product the screen begins to flicker over and over at random times. I could live with that, I updated the BIOS and it seemed to settle down. Then a couple of days after the return window closes, several keys completely quit working on the keyboard. I am so angry now. This was a complete waste of money and there is apparently no recourse for returns now. I have tried to get support with Lenovo but they are not helpful at all. This was the worst purchasing experience I have had on Amazon. $700 bucks for a brick of a laptop.

I love my new laptop. At its price point its excellent. I did all the updates first thing after firing it up and have had no problems with screen flicker reported by some. The SSD is the only way to go as far as boot speed is concerned. I like the screen more then the competition at its price level. It is a bit glossy but I installed a screen protective cover as I got a Lenovo pen as well. This matte finish eliminated the reflection. Laptop selection all comes down to what you are really going to use it for. Web browsing and office software- this is more than adequate. I got the 8th generation I5 chip as most say the I7 is a little overkill for normal use but it never hurts to go up if your budget wont be hurt. If you need more storage go for more than the 256 SSD but it costs more. Personally I wont go back to standard HDD because the are so slow. An external HD isnt very expensive and an optional way to go to expand your storage space. I found the keyboard took a little getting used to but after a few days I like it. I miss the 10 key number pad but it wasnt a deal breaker for me. The key travel is adequate and responsive. This style seems to be standard now. Back lit keys were a must for me and these are fine. I like the touch pad. Personally I love using my wireless mouse. My older laptops fan was always running and hot.I dont know that Ive noticed a fan running at all now and it is always cool with my usage, thank you SSD! I got mine on Amazon as the base machine. Unless you want to get into the $ 1000.00 plus range this is the way to go. If that isnt a problem for you I would get this machine, put an I7 chip on it and get a 512 SSD or better on it. Mine came with 8GB DDR4 ram. More ram never hurts but costs a bit more. Over all this configuration, price, and performance will make you smile.

I have had this for less than 2 weeks and have already decided to return it because it has a design flaw that causes sporadic video fluctuations. There are many documented instances of this issue on the Lenovo forums and the manufacturer has been UNABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM! Some of the other users with this issue have sent their units to Lenovo to have the display replaced; this didnt fix the issue. I dont have the desire to mess around hoping Lenovo gets it right. This is going to be returned.

I was gonna buy a Surface Laptop 2 but those start at $999 and that only gets you 128GB and a 13.5" screen. The one I configured with the extended warranty was about $1400 with a student discount. I got the Lenovo 730 for under $800 with a SquareTrade warranty. I think the price on Amazon when I bought it was under $700 and Best Buy has it for $680... but I dont purchase anything from Best Buy ever since they banned me from returning items. Regardless, shipping was quick, and the product was new in the box which I was a bit worried about since I saw some reviews saying they received returned, opened laptops. But everything was in pristine condition and I was actually quite surprised at the quality of the 730. Its a 15.6" 2-in-1 laptop with comparable internal specs to the Surface Laptop 2 at a 33% discount. The screen is pretty good but doesnt get amazingly bright. The speakers are surprisingly not bad but Im not much of an audiophile. The battery life is quite underwhelming. Maybe 3-4hrs doing normal tasks at close to max brightness. It didnt come with a stylus, though I was under the impression it did when I purchased it but I dont really mind since I didnt plan on using it for writing much anyway. Trackpad is sufficiently large and feels like smooth glass and the keyboard feels pretty good with a decent amount of travel. I also thought there was USB-C charging but theres not, afaik. I did have issues setting it up, though. I got my initial startup procedure completed and had a fresh, new install of Windows but whenever I would try to uninstall a program or unpin a tile from the start menu, it would basically undo the deletion. So, I did a recovery install again. Then, the initial startup procedure prompted me for my Microsoft credentials which it had not done before, so I entered them but I ended up with a user folder name I didnt want and there wasnt an easy way to replace it with a local account user folder. So, I did another recovery install. Same thing happened again that happened the first time when I couldnt actually unpin or uninstall programs. Finally, another recovery install and everything worked great. Took about four hours to get there but everything is to my liking and, so far, Im happy with the product. Will update if anything takes a turn for the worst.

This laptop is pretty good for the price. I use it mainly for school purposes as well as some light work in other applications such as Photoshop. For my day to day tasks this laptop suits me and the battery life on it does not really effect my daily tasks. It, like many other electronic devices, has a battery that does not last long enough to use throughout the day in my opinion. The build is solid, I really like the paint job on it. This laptop has some flaws that I would want prospective buyers to know before getting into buying this product. It could be that just my one has this flaw and others do not but here they are. The screen is pretty flimsy and does not stay put in the way it is angled. If someone angles the laptop less than 90 degrees and moves around with it, you can feel it sway back and forth. If the laptop is angled less than 30 degrees, there is a good chance that it will close by itself because of the weight of the screen. Another flaw is that the mouse pad looses its functionality at times, I find it happen more while programming in Visual Studio. I have to close the whole laptop and log in again for it to work, seems like a application for the mouse pad just crashes and just needs a reboot. My last issue with this laptop is that for some audio that I listen to, the left speaker seems to be vibrating too much on the frame. The audio that comes through the speaker seems to be vibrating the frame so those sound waves are less clear because it is absorbed by the body of the laptop. Other than that, this laptop is suited for me and I felt that returning it and looking for a new one was not worth spending time looking for a new one, especially in this price range.

Arrived promptly, booted it up and waited for the updates, many, many updates to load. Most would not load but after several re-boots all but one loaded. Called Microsoft, senior engineer worked for 30 minutes, no success since it had an obsolete version of Win10. Reloaded the correct version so I spent most of two evenings before I had a fully functional PC. Also the track pad is much too sensitive, even on the least sensitive setting just getting near it is enough to set it off. So I gotta buy a mouse?? On the plus side it is quiet and boots quickly. UPDATE, called Lenovo tech support, they re-installed the driver for the trackpad. Still terrible. If I plug in a mouse it does not work properly, jumps all over the place. Returning the computer.
