Ive been looking at getting a laptop since November 18. I picked up a Gigabyte Aero 15X, but was a lemon and had to return it. Hesitant to by another Gigabyte again, I thought I would wait until the CES show in January to see what the new models would be; Im glad I did! There were no thin/powerful 17" laptops around until then, and thats what I wanted. This laptop checked all the boxs; its amazingly fast, has a high refresh rate, room for 3 SSDs, 17" screen, a separate num pad, a top end GPU, and pretty decent battery life for whats inside. I did undervolt the CPU by -150mV and did a repaste (their paste job was kinda so-so). Runs like a champ! ***6/4/19 Update*** My laptop drains about 3%-4% of battery per day while off. After trying everything under the sun that I read online to no avail, I reached out to MSI. I received an RMA number, but was told it itll be 3-5 business days before they unbox it, and another 10-30 business days for in-house turn around time. I could be without my laptop that I use for everything for well over a month, which was a no-go for me. I asked if I could buy a battery (it would be a better alternative than paying to ship my laptop back to them and losing it for so long) from them, and was given model number for the battery (BTY-M6L ) and told to check online. Im not willing to risk a $3000 laptop on a battery from a sketchy website. Not happy with the way this was handled at all. Dropped the review rating from 5 to 3 stars as I expect more from this $$$ of a laptop. If MSI reaches out to me with a better solution, Ill revise my review.
