First things first - the seller communication should be noted, as I had a few of them and they were promptly (same day) answered by the seller. That was a positive sign. Shipping was fast and laptop arrived a day before it was scheduled (from East Coast to Washington State). First impression - absolutely FAST computer and a BEAST that will last for years to come (upgradable to 64gb RAM with 4 slots). Additional bays for storage devices. Have been running for a few hours now MS Power BI and the laptop stays barely warm - no signs of heating-up. i7 quad core (7th Gen) eats it up (the data) and spits it out with no hiccups. Very impressive running data files with multiple gb size (10s of 1000s of rows). Screen - perfect HD resolution. Havent tried to calibrate it yet to use for Photoshop, video editing - still yet to explore it further, but color scale seems to be acceptable for this purpose (Im not professional, but a hobbyist). Its not a 4k screen, but definitely acceptable for most common graphics work. All components listed on the description of the laptop are present including SD card reader and fingerprint reader. Followed sellers instructions on not to update via Windows update, but via Lenovo apps. Worked like a charm and within 30 minutes the laptop was ready to process data. Computer well-built with no surprises. Price-wise - one of the most competitive in configuration and to run LOTS of data out-of-the-box. The sellers support surpassed our expectations including installing 1 16gb RAM card (vs 2x8gb) upon our request and they were able to ship the same day. If one needs a "rig" that will last for years (and up-gradable for such) - HIGHLY recommend buying it from Laptop Authority due to their outstanding support and competitive pricing! Would recommend this laptop to any student, developer especially with engineering background.

After about one year of use I now find the machine great. I got used to the things I initially wasnt very happy about and love the feeling of the Thinkpad keyboards: - the battery still lasts quite long - I consistently get around 4 hours, for average CPU-intensive activities. - from time to time (about once a month) I get the crashing blue screen - but this may be because I usually only restart the laptop when that happens and I typically have several applications open at the same time (including 7-10 pdf files and 70+ Chrome tabs). Overall I am very satisfied with the laptop and I would definitely buy again. ====================== I only got this laptop a few hours ago but I am so excited about it. The reason why I so quickly came here to post a review is because I myself was debating whether or not to buy this product due to a lack of reviews. What I love so far: - 3 years depot warranty. Want more? I just checked and one can purchase a couple more years, including onsite warranty. - the machine can use up to three hard drives: one ssd, and two pcie. I also added a Samsung 970 EVO 1TB - NVMe PCIe M.2 2280 SSD. - - - - make sure you also get a Lenovo 4XB0K59917 ThinkPad M.2 SSD Tray Storage Bay Adapter for the pcie drive. - its great using amazon prime: I got this laptop in less than 48 hours. - the seller was very quick in answering my questions. The answers were accurate and I am happy I trusted the seller. - no. #1 reason why I insisted to buy a Lenovo: my laptop worked hard all day long and yet the laptop is not hot. - the battery seems to last around 6 hours for a normal use (I have several tabs open in Chrome, while I am editing a Word document, and read through a few PDF files). I am pretty happy with it so far. - the fingerprint scanner is very useful. I love not having to type in my password each time I log in. It does have quite a fairly high rate of false negatives though. What I am not so excited about: - the charging and other ports are at the back of the laptop. This seems pretty dull to me. - the 3-year warranty started almost a couple of months before I purchased the laptop. Nevertheless "almost" three years is still amazing. - its a little heavier than my y50-70 - but this is something I expected. So is the charger - I think its the heaviest charger I ever had. - I almost took out one star for the way the Fn keys and F keys are interchanges ... instead of pressing two keys for Alt + F4, youll have to press Alt + Fn + F4. Pressing Fn + Esc will reverse back to normal the Fn vs F keys. Update: Lenovo customer service is way below my expectations: I seem to have some hardware or driver problems. An external harddrive that works well on other systems is not working on this ThinkPad. Minus one star for this issue and for the ridiculous (in my opinion) Lenovo customer support. Now I have another external harddrive behaving weirdly. I wont even bother with the customer support, I will just subtract another start. Lenovo customer support just pointed fingers to other - Lenovo says I should contact the HDD manufacturer, the HDD manufacturer says that if the drive passes the tests (using another system), then I should contact Lenovo. I guess I expected much better from Lenovo customer service.

Price is very competitive and for some extra cash you can max it out. Replaced the RAM with 64Gb and added another drive. Runs everything I throw at it.

I use Debian Linux as my primary OS and unfortunately, the fingerprint reader is not compatible. However, audio and webcam and all the function keys work out-of-the-box. The HDMI output has video out-of-the-box but getting the audio working in linux takes some effort.

Nice computer, unfortunately I keep getting stuck on the Lenovo screen everytime I open the lid. I have to perform a hard shut down and then turn back on again. This happened on day 1. Very frustrating

Havent used it all too much yet in the time Ive had it, but: -Graphics and RAM is plenty fine for 3D drafting and review. Autodesk Fusion 360, Solidworks Viewer, and VCarve all work with no hiccups at all. It is smooth, with no laggy spots. -Keyboard feel seems above average for laptops, at least to me. The keypad is great bonus for me. -The weight is slightly heavy, but its well balanced throughout enough that it is certainly manageable. Why 4 stars: -Monitor is a little dim and lacks brightness (-0.75star) -Battery life isnt all too great given its relatively high weight and dim monitor (-0.25star)
