The Dell brand has declined significantly in recent years. I bought a Dell G3 3579 gaming laptop in late 2018 through Amazon. I spent almost $1,100. I received the laptop and none of the ports worked properly! 3 of the 4 ports were completely nonfunctional & the 4th port only barely worked. I could hardly use the computer with no ports. Plus, the computer was made of cheap, flimsy plastic. Furthermore, the arrow buttons were in an awkward place, which made it harder to play video games. I called Dell tech support & got some woman in the Phillipines who barely spoke English & was hard to understand. She seemed incompetent & it soon became obvious that she was incapable of understanding my issue. I spent 1.5 hours on the phone with her & got nowhere. I emphasized over & over again the problem, but she never understood. I then sent the computer in to the Dell repair site. I was promised it would be fixed in 3-4 business days. It took them over 1 month! When I finally got the computer back, I saw they had not fixed the problem. My ports still did NOT work! I was now livid. I called Amazon & they had stellar customer service. I got a full refund, after returning the worthless Dell computer. I will never buy a Dell computer again & will encourage others to do the same. I ended up buying a Lenovo Legion Y730, 17” and it’s the best computer I’ve ever owned!

When I received my laptop in the mail today I decided to take another persons advice and update everything from system settings including downloading geoforce experience from nvidias website. When I was almost done I noticed that the product key was invalid. Amazon customer support was zero help and I had to manually purchase a new key. This was fixable, but I wanted to warn future buyers. Overall with the software as Im typing on it right now, it seems to be at a fast speed and the backlit keyboard works fine. A bit disappointed that I cant change the colors, right now its blue. Battery was included with charger and I checked computer specs. Everything else seems okay. I have been searching for a decent computer for over a week that was within my budget and this was it. I didnt want to spend a fortune on something that could be cheap if bought in parts and upgraded later. I am a heavy multitasker, I had discord/netflix in one window along with 2 games in another so I needed high end specs. Update: I tested it by running the 4 programs mentioned and Im pleasantly surprised. It seemed to run everything the way I wanted it to. I posted a screenshot in attachments. I brought my computer to my parents house to visit without the charger to test this as well. The battery lasted for a good 4-6 hours after filling it up. If your computer gets too hot I would suggest getting this item from Amazon. Its $20 and you can hook it under your computer while its on your lap. Dont listen to the other 1 star reviews because they dont know how to handle these expensive products careful enough so it wont get damaged. Ive had a cheap 2013 macbook for 5 years, the only problem I had was with the LCD screen. https://www.amazon.com/Havit-HV-F2056-Laptop-Cooler-Cooling/dp/B00NNMB3KS/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1538677692&sr=1-2-spons&keywords=laptop+cooling+pad&psc=1

As the title says-this is a really nice machine. As it comes specked out it is extremely fast once you remove all of the Dell bloatware. Boots up in a matter of seconds and the response is virtually immediate I did upgrade the computer and swapped out the standard M.2 SSD for a Samsung EVO Pro 512gb. Replacing it with a better performing SSD really made a huge difference! Next, I added sn additional 16gb memory SO DIMM. It was fast before but after the upgrade my God I also replaced the one terabyte 5400 RPM drive with a Sam song 1 TB SSD. There was also a significant speed improvement with that as well. Even without the upgrades it’s a really superb machine; with the upgrades it will certainly last quite a number of years. This laptop is replacing a 10-year-old dell latitude E 6510 with an I-7 dual core processor.

I purchased this machine Nov 2018 and took advantage of Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal and paid well under $1000 for the system. At $879 -- it is a deal! If you are paying over $950...you might as well upgrade to the 17" screen. Me I need a compact gaming only system and this is it. It runs Fallout 4 flawlessly (which is definitely saying something if anyone knows Bethesda) The set up is fast and is not troublesome in anyway (the noise mentioned in other reviews is negated by even a cheap set of earbuds. My main critique is the pointing device. It is HUGE and gets in the way when you are gaming using your keyboard. It took quite a while to master the ergonomics of not tapping it while playing. I you do purchase this system I recommend one of the inexpensive optical drives, an inexpensive set of ear phones, and a cheap mouse. My total for those accessories cost way less than $20. I highly recommend this system -- it is for the casual gamer not the hardcore living life in the virtual world crowd. It feels fairly rugged but I worry about the stiffness of the earphone jack, anything with those tight tolerances will surely be trouble and I will update my review should it ever become a real problem. 256 SSD is the right size and the 1TB HD is more than sufficient. I find the screen just right for me. Overall a good buy if the price is under $1000 however, there are other systems you should look for if you want to spend more than that.

I very much like this laptop. Its fast, looks good and Im impressed with Dell. Im hard pressed to think of something I dont like about it. The only nitpicks I can think of is I wish the lighted keyboard had a couple color options and touchpad is different than my old laptop and was something I had to get used to.

I am now on my third service call with this laptop - first was a fan malfunction that i had to send back to Dell to be replaced, then the wireless card keeps coming loose. After the 3rd time reseating the wireless card, the laptop no longer turns on. All this within 6 months. Ive had it - going to get my files off of it and (hopefully) get a replacement that isnt crap. I almost bought one for my daughter, but getting her a different brand. That said, its a terrific laptop when it isnt falling apart.

Ive had this laptop for a couple months. I dont like when people write reviews after a couple days or one day of use - theyre useless reviews written out of excitement for a new product. Anywho - after using this laptop now for a couple months, it is pretty solid! It runs games very well. The only game I encountered that needed some adjustments to a lower graphic setting was ARK: Survival. Yet, it can still run the game and pretty well at that. Most games will run at MAX settings. -Battery life is poor if unplugged and gaming. Thats not exclusive to this laptop, just about any laptop will blow through the battery when running games unplugged. How can you write a poor review about this subject when you should know good and well youre not going to get 5-6 hours on unplugged gaming? Anyway. -Battery life is pleasant if not gaming. I dont have exact data in regards to how long it last unplugged with light work vs gaming. I havent taken the time to do that. However, I can say the battery goes noticeably quick while gaming, and doesnt while doing normal browsing/work. With that being said... -This is a solid laptop for business purposes. Although I have tested several different games (ARK: Survival, World of Warcraft, Fifa 18, Star Wars Battlefront 2, etc..), I dont use this for gaming, at all. Again, I have tried several different games and ran them for hours on in. But Ive since deleted them as I needed this laptop for business reasons. The reason Ive mentioned gaming primarily so far is because I understand that this is what this laptop is geared for and marketed towards. - *Note: The laptop runs hot while gaming. If this is an issue, dont game on laptops. This issue isnt exclusive to this laptop, rather its an issue with laptops in general - until technology advances in this area, there isnt enough room to ventilate the air (like in a desktop computer) so the laptops will run hot in high-intensity usage like gaming. -Again, I bought mine for business reasons. I wanted something that could execute anything I needed, swiftly. No matter how intense. This laptop will do everything you need it to do from a business perspective (for the vast majority of people) regardless of intensity. Its an A+ for me.

I had no idea editing HD video could be so fast. I was accustomed to hitting the render button and get a cup of coffee. Now I hit the button and get ready to load another video!!! Amazing speed!

Couple days of use and had to reset Windows, the wifi driver had issues. After reset had to register and download driver through Dell help. System is running well, now. Fan is somewhat loud when rendering kicks in. Saw unit for as cheap as $650 but with less hardware and limited quality. Like it better then the flashy Lenovo it replaced.

After the set up came the blue screen, 10 times. Not sure how it could be so bad. I am a Dell fan and has been a Dell fan since forever. This is out of the ordinary.
