Updated out of existence. I guess I get the picture. It updates nonstop until it’s so slow as pondwater. Spend more money it’s not even good for a student.

Edit: The fan is messed up already - when I turn it on it rattles forever and stays loud the entire time Im using it. Its also very slow - and I removed bloatware and have zero programs installed (this is for the internet only) and just opening, say, Paint takes forever. This computer randomly shuts down once a day. Its not overheating (its used on a cooling fan stand) and the settings are all okay. It did this a few days after I got it, and it does it every single day I use it. I am not running any games or anything on it - I use it solely for internet browsing and occasionally a Word document. I bought another (near-identical) HP the same weekend I ordered this, from Walmart, and it does the exact same thing. Ive owned a number of laptops and none have done this. Ill never again buy from this brand.

The worse purchase I have ever made, the mouse pad and keyboard does not work at all. After many attempts to have it working and restoring the laptop it still does not work. I contacted HP and although their customer service was excellent for the south american and Caribbean department, HP in the United States was no help. The item is still under warranty but they are not willing to have it fixed unless I use my own money to send it to them although there is an HP outlet mere hours away from my home. Very disappointed in HP

I bought this laptop new at the end of March because I needed a laptop to finish out the semester. It worked great for one day, of course. Then, after the weekend, I went back to school ready to finish. NOPE. Laptop is slower than the first smart phone trying to run on todays technology. It freezes CONSTANTLY and has to "think". NOW I just have a black screen. It seems that the computer is on, but there is no visual. I dont know what to do and I guess Im out $300. Terrible purchase. I understand that it isnt top of the line, but does that mean it shouldnt work at all? Im completely displeased and will not purchase another HP product due to this issue. Only reason it got a star is so I could leave a review.

It says in the specs that it has bluetooth but there is none on this laptop and the speakers play very very low.

So, at first it was pretty good. Although there was a lot of bloatware, which, my fault, I did not take the time to remove as I know enough to be dangerous. Now the last week or so, the only screen that comes up is "preparing for auto fix" .... it stays like that forever. Finally reboot and the same dang thing. I only spent $260 or so... no, I didnt buy the warranty. So now what? I guess Ill take it to a computer repair place and see if they can fix it.

Excellent laptop for the price. Everything functions quite well. The specs are in two places. One never mentions Bluetooth, the other, says NO. No Bluetooth in this model laptop so you cant connect to external speakers. The Product specs should have NO Bluetooth in Bold print. Other than that, excellent!

so i bought this about 11 months ago the 1st time around. recently had an incident where the screen was opened too far and the hinge failed. everything still operational but very hard to open/close screen now. so I went to previous purchases and said get another one. if this were a store, id know this was impossible, they wouldnt sell them anymore. however this is amazon, and they sell computer stuff of any age. I didnt just find another that looked the same, it was through the buy again feature. it was a very close match but there are obvious differences to it so I may have to dig deeper and see how close the specs are. things like where the usb ports are located are clearly different indicating it is a different model of some sort. also the hinge is a different style - maybe this is a good thing ?? so far, oob, browsing is a bit slower. im disabling add-ons to improve it. dont remember but may have had to do the same on the last unit. got the protection plan this time for a bit more than $50. well see if we need it this time.

Just purchased this computer and at first the CPU was constantly at 100% and in the red. Now for the price this computer has a relatively good CPU. This CPU has a benchmark of around 2600 which for the lay person a benchmark is a way to rate CPUs/Processors. Most computers in this price range have a CPU benchmark under 1000 and the higher the benchmark the better. This computer comes with bloatware pre-installed which slows down the computer and fills up the processor to 100%. After some work this computer is now running great with the CPU holding mostly at around 39% and startup time is at 42 seconds now compared to more than a minute and a half right out of the box. Heres what i did. First I downloaded "PC Decrapifier." This tells you which programs on the computer are not necessary and which ones are and recommends which ones to be deleted.... for example one of the unnecessary programs was "Tangent" games. After that i downloaded "advanced system tools free" and scanned and cleaned the computer and then in that program went to "startup" programs and chose to run only the necessary programs to run upon startup. I added two 8gb ram sticks to bring the total ram to 16gb which was very tricky but there is a YouTube video on it and now the computer is running great. So that being said the computer is functioning very well for the price paid with a relatively decent processor. The end!

Pros: -Lightweight -Nice, conservative design -Alright processor and RAM, could use expansion to 8GB -500GB of storage -Lots of palm and wrist space to rest on -Keycaps feel nice to type on -Has bloatware, but only two programs which are McAfee and Wildtanget Games. I thought the HP suite that also comes with it isnt that bad since I can pair it with my HP printer Cons: -Cheap plastic toy feel, flexes a lot and honestly feels like a toy -Battery life is not that long, from 100% and just about 45 minutes of medium/light usage its at 88% -Trackpad is kinda finicky when trying to motion gesture but its minor -Minor, but num lock key doesnt light up when activiated -Stutters and lags when under load, which can be done when uninstalling the bloatware that comes preinstalled Overall, its not bad but I highly recommend getting this whenever it goes for sub $250 as anything above it makes other laptops way better choices. I chose this as a "better chromebook" that can do web tasks as well as handle old games like Civ 5. So far I dont count on the battery life making it throughout the whole day but it doesnt take long to charge.
