Dell Inspiron 15 5000 15.6” Full HD Laptop, 8th Gen Intel Quad Core i7-8550U, 8GB Ram, 256GB Solid State Drive, Windows 10

2 weeks in, Im happy with it. I can run GTA V (low settings) @30-50fps, cpu sits at 50% or below. Obviously limited by the integrated GPU UHD 620. But gaming is not what this laptop was made for. Photoshop, After Effects, browser multiple tabs, a few file explorer windows, and whatever else running at the same time isnt a problem. When I first booted it up and got rid of Dells bloatware it ran pretty hot even over 200f under heavy use. I updated all the drivers and have not seen the temp exceed 180f since. Sys info and Speccy shows 2 physical RAM modules. One 4gb and one 8GB, both Hyundai Electronics DDR4-2400 (1200MHz). So I guess I got an upgrade from my 8GB order to 12GB total physical memory. Both hard drives are SATA-III 6GB/s Boot time is very fast, maybe 10-15 seconds. For its size, weight, battery life, and i7 performance. Im happy with it.

Just received the laptop today. It seems fine but speed is not what I expected. On top of everything, the sound of the fan is really loud and annoying. It runs non-stop even when the room temperature is 65F. I have other dell products at home and at workand for an upgraded Inspiron like this one, it is below my expectation. Hope this review helps.

No problem with this one although that touchpad like Lenovos is a bit touchy. These new BIG touchpads have a click function thats incredibly annoying. Whatever happened to the point mouse on Dells. Its sorely missed and its not even on the Lenovos which were IBMS and IBM is the company that started that sort of mouse which was very accurate compared to that stupid touchpad. Id rather shut it off. Its only good use is for tiny movements if you need to fix photos in very very hi res. I also dont like how the batteries are inside now. Harder to replace but still doable. Fortunately I ordered the one with the 2nd hard drive unfortunately the SSD is rather small. a 240 -250 is the min Id suggest. I have about 49 gb left on the OS drive. This isnt mine but mom wanted a Dell and I had to buy her a tablet in order for her to get one..

This laptop is decent. Windows loads very fast. I cant detect a lag. It hasnt crashed or froze on me. I saw the delivery guy dump it roughly on my doorstep so feared the worse but all seem well so far. I wouldve rated it a five but for the battery life (shorter than claimed), and the charger seem flimsy compared to other dell models.

I use this as a personal computer. After approximately a month of use, I have not found any faults with it. It performs as expected. It was surprising easy to setup. Software installation was a breeze, as was connecting printers, a scanner, backup hard drive, etc. Id buy it again.
