I really enjoy this laptop. I purchased it for college and also for light gaming. The games i mostly play are Call of Duty, PUBG, Fortnite, Stardew Valley, Minecraft, and a couple of other moderately demanding games and this laptop can handle them respectively. It has no problem running work based programs such as all Word applications, Adobe Premiere and casual internet browsing and video streaming. What really blew me way was that I am able to plug in my Oculus Rift and play games off my Oculus Library, and also my Steam VR library. (Note: I have the GTX 1050 version.) However, if you are planning on playing VR, I would recommend investing in a laptop stand, one that elevates the laptop up a bit and one that has cut outs so the fans are not covered up. This will allow for a less hot laptop. I still encountered slight thermal throttling, but it was rare, and it did not ruin the VR experience. One more thing for playing VR with this laptop. You want to have the charger cable plugged in and charging the laptop while you play. If you dont, it will lag to the point where any game is unplayable. A couple of things i dislike about the laptop is its track pad. Its not horrible, I believe it used Windows percision drivers and gestures are always read correctly, it just feels a little lose. The panel is also not the best, however you are able to find an upgrade replacement, but keep in mind it might void your warranty. Other then that this is a very solid laptop, I would recommend it to anyone, it looks nice, I like how for a gaming laptop it not the typical read and black. It looks professional and subtle and at the same time does have a slight gaming feel with the WASD keys being outlined in blue. After about 6 months with this laptop, I still have yet to run into any major issues. Hopefully it stays that way and I did not just jinx myself. Conclusion: I really like this laptop. Do I regret buying it: No Would I recommend it: Yes The End

A very decent entry level gaming laptop with all the standard features you might need, great performance for its price. Its also nicely designed piece of hardware, no complaints with any of its parts so far. Not much bloatware; it comes with McAfee, a few Dell utility tools, & all the usual pre-installed software that Windows 10 comes with. The fans can get a bit loud in some intensive gaming situations.

I needed to replace my 5 years old broken laptop and was looking for a good configuration that has decent graphics and enough CPU capacity to last for next 5 years. As per the benchmarking tests, performance difference between the new i5 and i7 processors is very little and doesnt justify the premium price of i7. So I was clear that I wanted a laptop with new i5. After a lot of search on Amazon and other sites, I finally narrowed down to this laptop for two reasons: a. The overall configuration looks good (I chose 256GB boot drive and 1TB secondary drive) b. it has a dedicated graphics card that provides good graphical capabilities. Dedicated graphics was especially important for me since I process large RAW image files out of my SLRs that requires a lot of a firepower. If I have to summarize, this laptop has really lived up to my expectations. I really pushed this laptop to its limits by running a batch image conversion process to convert around 400 RAW images, each image being around 50-70 MB. The conversion was reasonably fast. The CPU automatically overclocked itself and performed at peak without the laptop getting hot or anything else of that sort. The only thing I would change in this laptop would be replacing the secondary HDD with a SSD as well. Once you are spoiled with the SSD speed (my previous laptop also had SSD), the regular HDDs are just not good enough. :) I would definitely recommend this laptop if someone is looking for a little extra than regular day to day use where the dedicated graphics card can make a real difference.

I bought this laptop about a month ago as an upgrade to my POS HP 15 notebook. Im mostly a casual gamer (read: console); I dont stream or anything and I just basically wanted something that would freaking run Planet Coaster, as well as screw around with mods on older games. I was slightly discouraged by some of the reviews, but I have not had any problems. Straight out of the box, setup was a breeze. Framerate complaints: None. Some of the people whining about this must be more hardcore than I. I can run Planet Coaster (which is pretty demanding specs wise) on ultra settings without any problems. It did lag a little when I got 1500+ guests in my park, but thats to be expected. The only crash Ive had is when I console spawned 1000+ Heimskrs (an NPC) in Skyrim and then tried to kill them all. Nope. Laptop no like. So unless youre trying to do crazy things like that, no issues here. Alt-tabbing between programs is super quick, as is the wifi. I can pause a game, look up something online, and switch back without problems. The screen is okay for the price. It seems kind of matte, but I have it hooked up to my TV via HDMI so I dont really care. I dont use the built in keyboard a lot, but the backlight is cool, and it works just fine when I have to use it. I also like how the mousepad is a little offset so I dont bump it as much while typing. Not sure how well this would work if youre left handed though. Battery life is ok too. Depending on what Im playing it took maybe 6 hours to almost kill the battery. Longer if youre just online or watching youtube or something. A few cons: I do wish there was at least one more USB port. I use an external keyboard when hooked up to the TV, which leaves only 2 for my wireless mouse (God forbid I have to charge it), whatever controller I want to use, etc. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD STOP WITH THE MCAFEE. I hate McAfee. Its awful. No, I dont want to buy it. Stop deleting files out of whatever Im downloading because you think theyre bad. No, I still dont want to buy. Yes, Im aware my free trial is going to expire. Cool it with the popups reminding me of it also. I spent more time at the beginning trying to figure out how to disable the 10000 things McAfee "protects" from than anything. Summary: If you want super hardcore settings, framerate, etc. then yes, youre going to have to spend more money. For the price and how casually I play Im happy with my purchase.

The offerings of the laptop are great for the value as compared to laptops of different brands in the same price range. You have to change where things are downloaded onto or installed though because the main drive is the SSD which has only 128 gb but has the operating system on it. It frustrated me at first, but there is a setting where you can configure so things go into the HDD instead, and there are options when installing the programs. The laptop is very sleek and isnt heavy for its size. I think its powerful for its size and will try some games on it. So far, running heavier games makes the fan work twice as hard, so there will be a fair amount of fan noise. But Im hoping it will change as soon as my cooler fan arrives tomorrow. So far, everything is awesome. Will update should there be any changes.

During the initial setup process, the G3 (connected to power) suddenly turned itself off. I waited over half an hour before attempting a restart. Upon restarting, the keyboard lit up, but the screen never showed the Dell logo or any other element of the bootup process. Instead, all I saw was a continuous black screen and no button or combination of buttons changed the situation (repeatedly tapping F12 for instance). Tried again the next day, computer claimed I had shut it down and admonished me, began attempting to install programs and black screen of death reared its head again. According to some research I conducted, this issue dates back at least 5 years with some Dell computers. Total POS.

Solid performer with great specs. One thing that is not clear from the description is the SSD memory type. The 128GB M.2 memory I received was sata not NVMe as one might assume. I upgraded mine to 256 NVMe and it did work just fine. Overall very happy with it after another 8GB of RAM and win pro.

I have only had it for a day, and so far it performs as well as expected. The only reason for 3 stars is that the description and pictures clearly state that this laptop has a thunderbolt 3 port, but upon arrival there is none. Not even a usb c... Not a deal breaker, this is still a good laptop at a good price and will do what I need it to do. I was just expecting the thunderbolt port.

I purchased this laptop today for gaming and streaming. And If you want to play this with high screen quality and stuff, NEVER buy this laptop. It stops every ten second and whatever you trying to download, this laptop says “CPU is usage is too high” basically you can’t do anything with this laptop. Im very disappointed in this purchase. I don’t understand all other reviews here how they could play game because I bought it to replace an old slow computer and thought I was getting something that could handle the speed of gaming. Turns out this is by far the slowest and heaviest computer Ive had in whole years especially with this price... there are far much better laptop with this price and better speed than this. Booting up takes forever and opening programs or switching from program to program is literally so slow and in the end you realize you can’t play anything or stream anything. Also you can’t watch any streaming video because loading takes like forever.... every second. I decided to return it right after I tested it out today after got it today. So dissapointed.
