If you decide to take a chance on this thing, here are some things to do, up front: 1. Uninstall McAffee. 2. Run Windows updates. 3. Lookup a guide online for configuring Windows 10 services, to cut down what you do and dont need. Also, disable anything in Startup that you dont need. Those first two things will conflict with each other, initially. McAffee makes everything run slower, and when you get into Windows for the first time, theres a ton of initial processing it does, including downloading updates. Just dont try to use it for anything else until those things are done. You pretty much cant, anyway (CPU usage will be stuck at 100%). And this is all using a local account. I imagine its even slower when using a Microsoft account. Once youve done all that, you will have a device thats "usable," more or less. The picture quality is nice and the screen is bright. The battery life also seems to be about as advertised. You can still install any Windows software, which is really the main reason to choose a Windows tablet. VLC, LibreOffice - they worked well enough (though slow to start). Chrome, on the other hand, stutters quite a bit (even with only uBlock Origin installed). And you can only watch Netflix in reduced quality. Even then, it chops. The keyboard is awful. Its probably the worst keyboard Ive ever used. The keys are unusually small. The key action is less like a laptop/netbook-style keyboard and more like someone just enlarged a phone keyboard from 2006 and mounted it on a thin piece of plastic. And, as others have remarked before, the "stylus holder" on the keyboard is completely useless. Its only big enough for the stylus clip, and the stylus will flop around whenever you move. I really wanted to like this device. At the end of the day, I just couldnt tolerate the poor performance and the abysmal keyboard. In a big way, it reminded me of the days before SSDs. If youre a fan of that era, then maybe youll be fine with this thing. But Id highly recommend you get something else. If you absolutely need Windows programs, save the money you would have spent on this and get something more powerful (steer clear of Windows 10 on Atom CPUs), though that usually means youll sacrifice battery life. These days, you can probably find suitable replacements for all your applications on Android, and if you want an all-day device with good performance (for the same or less money), thats the route you should go. Windows isnt suitable for this type of device, at this price point (at least not right now).

Excellent computer. Very light weight and easy to carry around. Battery life is unbelievable, eight, ten and eleven hours so far. Not super fast but I knew that up front, slows down a lot when I have more than five tabs open, but I dont normally open that many at once. My usage is email, internet surfing, game playing and reading the news. Very very happy with this purchase and the provider.

First, this is NOT a laptop. Do not buy this item as your primary laptop to do all of your work. It is not built for that. BUT, with that said, this is an amazing 2-in-1 for the price that you pay. It is super light and compact, and has plenty of ports. The tablet and keyboard both work great, but the trackpad is sometimes is slow to respond and the pen takes a bit of getting used to. However, even with those small quirks, this tablet is great for people on the go who need to send emails, surf the web, and do some light word processing/reading documents/etc. on the go. I have another ASUS laptop which I reserve for pretty much all of my daily work, and use this when I am moving around to quickly check emails and update documents, and watch some youtube or HBO on the fly. The best part about this- it is really only a fraction of the price of a Surface. And the pen and keyboard is included in the price. So considering all of that, I would say that it was definitely worth the purchase as my electronic travel companion.

After I did all of the OS updates (took over 10 hours) -- it took up the entirety of the local storage. I only had 0.1MB left!! This product is not made to run Windows 10. Completely not functional.

I bought this unit a second time. After 3 months, this unit has been running without any problems. I guess the first one was problematic, because it was a bad unit. Keep reading to see the problem I had. I rated it a one star before. I wish this unit came with 128gb option. After window 10 does updates, windows takes about 30gb, the old windows for backup takes up about another 25gb. With 64gb ssd, there is no room left until a week later with windows deletes the back up files. The key to using this is having an external usb microsd reader so you can store all files separately. Just a little inconvenient, but the unit is light, portable and fast enough to do some work and watch movies. I also have a asus ultra thin flip for the heavy work. Carrying both of this units allows more flexibility when it comes to weight and use. So if both units remain reliable, then its a winner. I would have bought a Chi version except asus did not fix the charging port problem. Repairing the charge port for the chi would require a new screen while this unit is easier to disassemble and fix the charge port. So far so good with the charge port on this one. first unit-Keeps crashing 2 days after return is allowed....bluescreen, and can not reboot, or recover. I was lucky because amazon still allowed me to return this item for full refund after contacting them about problem. …......5 stars for amazon.....but I have to give this unit a one star for reliability. I am hesitate to buy another at this point. Seems the t102ha reviews are mixed with the t101ha because only the t102 comes in 128gb. I must say though that when it ran, it was a nice unit. I really like the sound and the ability to flip the tablet around and put it on tablet mode...….If they could give better warranty on the micro usb charge port and fix the weird, bluescreen problem. It worked very good for awhile, then it deteriorated quickly...…...I hope they fix the quality issue....right now I am still reluctant to buy the unit with only 64gb storage available. Windows 8.1 worked well on my 64gb emmc chi, but there is no way to fix the charge port without destroying the screen....cost of the screen and to fix the charge port exceeds cost of a new unit....After buying several transformers, including the chi and this one, I am scared of the quality issues. I cant trust the unit base on the number of complaints and personal experience. I have lost confidence in the transformer line and dont know if I will buy another.....after this third transformer experience....I am walking away.... comparison from t100, t100chi. 1. Improvement over the chi. Keyboard is no longer Bluetooth so there is no lag. 2. The tablet can be flipped around to be in tent mode or to cover keyboard while in tablet mode, but in tent mode, the edges could be rubber so it doesnt scratch the edges 3. Pro- The keyboard does not need to be separately charged. 4. There is full size USB. 5. con- still very weary about the micro usb charge port. This killed the chi. The chi micro usb port failed electrically and mechanically. the metal case of the port was welded and it failed within first week of use. In turn, the screen had to be replace because removal is impossible without damaging the glass and digitzer 6. It took some time, but Asus support did call back and help me get the product registered. Still would not recommend purchase from amazon warehouse again as the unit was more trouble than expected. Even after updating firmware and windows, the screen had some spots blinking on the screen, a reminder that the display driver might have to be reloaded again. I have yet to find out if this unit is easier to service than the chi. Windows update and recovery needs 50gb of space for updated windows and old windows, so this is a space hog....Why they sell these units with anything less than 64gb emmc is poor implementation. With bloated windows 10, any laptop you buy needs minimum of 128gb in order to have enough space. I am extending my memory with 128gb microsd card and usb 3.0 micro reader so it doesnt stick out of the side of the laptop too far, but then I worry about the security of the data. 6. Looks like the screen on this one can be removed similiarly to a t100. To improve this would be to slim down the keyboard or tablet thickness, I guess thinning the tablet is out of the question because then it wouldnt fit a full size usb. The finish on the chi better. I think this unit could use the following improvements. Finish like the chi with a front facing camera, thin down the keyboard., microsd card still pops out too easily, wish there was a door to keep it in, and use a microusb charging port that is stronger....still looks cheap....btw....new charger is rated 5v, 2amps....can I use the old t100chi charger which was compatible to qualcom faster charge of 9v?

***Update: After Id had this for six months, I finally got fed up with the wifi issues and did some research. I found that several others have the same complaints -- poor signal strength in the same spot that other devices report good signal strength, and slow wifi speeds. What I learned was this: It really does appear to be an internal antenna deficiency. Some reported success with putting the device close to the router (not always convenient), with using a USB wifi dongle rather than the internal wifi (uses your only USB port), using your cell phone as a wifi booster. There is a driver from late in 2015 that does seem to help. Oddly enough, however, it is an OLD Windows 8.1 driver for the wifi adapter. If you wish to pursue this, you should create a system backup, and carefully check the driver download for any viruses or malware. Search Atheros Wireless LAN driver 11.0.0.601. If you combine this in a search for the ASUS T101 or T102, you can find message board threads in which this fix is discussed and one even has a link to a Lenovo page where you can get the driver (I know, pretty risky stuff, here -- old driver, different manufacturer site). All I can say is that I did manage to get the old driver installed (it wasnt easy -- Windows did NOT want that old driver on this machine!) and it does seem to have made a significant improvement in performance. This will not fix the wonky touchpad or the tiny keys, but it at least makes the machine usable. Ive had my transformer for a while, now. Pros -- it is small and pretty portable. Battery life is EXCELLENT. I havent had app or operating system issues. Cons -- the track pad is just wacky. I dont like track pads, anyway, so disabled it and put in a USB mouse, although that gets clunky when I need to use the single USB port for something else (there is a setting to only disable the trackpad if a mouse is detected). My biggest issue, however, is that the wifi just doesnt work very well. I can be somewhere that my phone, my kindle, my laptop all report a strong wifi signal, and this device seems barely able to connect and stay connected. When it has a good connection, things are snappy and responsive, but Ive only found one site where that is the case. Very disappointing.

I purchased this product a little over a month ago and have been waiting to write a review to ensure I did not encounter some problems other users had commented on over the first month of use. My previous laptop, while it was much heavier but had high-end internal components, has been with me for 5 years and still runs flawlessly, so I set the bar high when looking for a newer, lightweight device. My requirements when I was shopping were a device that was under $400, was lightweight (preferably under 3 lbs), ran the full Windows 10 OS, had tablet and laptop functionality, and was able to complete simple business and entertainment tasks without lag (ie, running Microsoft Office, browsing the web, and streaming music and videos). That being said, I am extremely pleased with this purchase. I lucked out and purchased a warehouse deal on the product that was only damaged packaging (no harm to the unit, I dont know that the unit had even been turned on). I likely would not have taken the risk to buy a warehouse product, but I was reassured by Amazons return policy within 30 days on the product. This resulted in a hefty discount on a seemingly unused product, but even at the new price point of $380, I would be just as impressed with this product. I do have the T103 version, which is the most recent version of this product (no fingerprint scanner and an updated processor are the two main points upgrades I believe). Without the fingerprint scanner for login, Windows 10 does offer Bluetooth connectivity to a phone that will essentially lock/unlock the computer depending on if the phone is within range of the device, but I do not use this functionality- an old-fashioned password works reliably in my opinion. I immediately uninstalled any pre-loaded programs I knew I would never use. I also downloaded a paid Internet Security software I use on all of my devices- in my opinion, this is one of the best things you can do to protect your device from potential viruses and make it last. Having to deal with the notorious "Blue Screen" is never convenient. I also installed a full version of Microsoft Office and uninstalled the Mobile version that was included on the device. Once my device was set the way I wanted it, I created a system backup in case anything were to ever crash the system. Within two days of using, Windows 10 updated to its latest version, which took 2-3 hours overnight. With the update the device itself began running more smoothly, so I would recommend allowing the device to upgrade. I use an external micro-SD card to store all of my files and music, which keeps the eMMC storage open and essentially just run the OS and programs off of the internal storage. With this strategy, my device has ran smooth and starts up in under 30 minutes. Now, is this the fastest device ever? No, but I did not expect it to be either. However, with only 3-4 internet tabs open, Spotify, and one Office application open, there is no lag. The device can also stream videos without issue, and I have watched some sports and Hulu without lag. The HDMI connectivity is also convenient, albeit you have to purchase a $8-$10 cord to utilize it. I have done some basic spreadsheet editing without issue, but if I were to try and run multiple spreadsheets at once I would likely use another device with better multitasking capability. The keyboard and stylus being included with the device is a major plus. Being able to write notes or even just scroll with the stylus is a great addition. The keyboard is a little flimsy on its own, but I anticipate as long as I dont intentionally bend it I dont have to worry about it breaking. With it attached to the device it works great, and typing is seamless even with larger fingers. One thing to note is if you are typing a longer document, you may occasionally hit the touchpad, but you are able to turn the touchpad off in this instance using the "fn" and "f9" keys. The touchscreen works without issue for me. Zooming, scrolling, and opening programs all function great, and the screen is very responsive. The battery life is also impressive. I have yet to run the device dead, and my usage will vary on a daily basis from 1-7 hours, sometimes just streaming music and others times multitasking. I have stopped charging the device at the end of every single day and only charge once every 1-3 days, as it is not necessary to charge with my usage usually. I anticipate I could easily get 10-12 hours if not more out of the battery depending on what I was doing and the battery settings I use. The weight of the device is one of my favorite aspects. It is extremely lightweight, and carrying in a backpack or bag adds practically no weight at all. For charging, my biggest worry for the device was that the micro-USB port pins would wear out before anything else did and I would be unable to charge the device. To *hopefully* prevent this, I did purchase a micro-USB cord that offered magnetic connection to a more permanent plug in the micro-USB slot, so I would not be plugging/unplugging a cord from the port every time I charged it. This has worked well so far, as I use the cord with the provided wall charging block and the devices charges without issue. I did get a screen protector and generic soft-sided carrying case just to offer physical protection. The metal casing to the device seems durable. However, I anticipate that if anything ever needed replacing it may cost more than it is worth, so better to protect with $20 worth of casing/screen protectors than face the potential hassle. All in all, I am very pleased with the devices functionality and portability for the price. It met all of my criteria and then some.

owned this for one week. loved it until it starting delaying to turn on - then today it will not turn on at all . other reviewers called this the "B.lack S.creen O.f D.eath". this is mine. returning now and on the hunt for a different one. we have successfully and happily used small asus laptops for years and want to stick w/ asus. but we need it to actually turn on. hah.

I bought my third Asus computer, a T-103HA, in the fall of 2018. My first Asus, a P43E was in 2011 -- a great laptop which I still use regularly. That machine is bulletproof. My second was a T100TA bought in May of 2014. It was a great value albeit not altogeter bulletproof. When the T100 started getting flaky this year (its got a lot of miles on it), Asus was a natural choice for my upgrade. As noted above, I chose the T-103HA. It is well designed with a great screen and exceptional battery life. I was pleased ... at first. The ability to have a wired Ethernet connection (as well as additional USB ports) is a showstopper for me. With my other Asus laptops this was handily addressed via a 3-port USB hub with gigabit Ethernet. Ordered one for the T-103. Didnt work. Figured that hub was a dud so I ordered a different one. That hub worked fine on my Asus P43E but wouldnt be recognied on the new computer. Multiple calls to Asus Tech Support. Three weeks in to the purchase, Asus gave me an RMA for warranty repair. At this point I was conflicted between my paying to ship the bad unit to Grapevine, TX for warranty service or simply returning it to Amazon as defective. I paid to ship it to Asus warranty repair in Texas and let the Amazon 30-day window expire. Big mistake. Asus kept my computer for a week, replaced the motherboard, and returned it to me. Best I can tell they never touched the USB port nor tried to connect the USB hub that Id included. The USB port came back still effectively inoperable. Round II. I re-returned my T-103 to Grapevine. It took them two days to check the computer into their repair facility. On Friday, Dec 21st I got an email reporting the unit had been released from repair but it neglected to show the return tracking number. It took two calls to Asuss offshore technical support center to learn that Asus hadnt bothered to ship my computer and that it would be sitting in a bin in Grapevine until at least December27th -- another week without the new computer (fixed?) that Id paid for. In sum, the T-103 is a great design. However, as evidenced by this having both a defective motherboard and a defective USB port, Asus manufacturing/quality control has become shoddy. Worse, their warranty repair lacks basic competence and wont take ownership of defective product. No sense of urgency. Moral of the story: Asus makes cool technology. But if you purchase their product, test it thoroughly right away. Should you find a problem, return the defective unit to the vendor (presumably to Amazon) within the return window. Let the vendor send you a new product. Dont get trapped by the Asus warranty service; let them be Amazons problem.

I have typically loved Asus stuff. I bought this replace an old MacBook air and an iPad. This is basically a cheaper version of a surface with an atom chip which are actually quite performant for the price. After about three days the machine would be humming along and the battery would hit about 60% and die. First time I thought ok, maybe its new. After 4 more times it was clear there was a battery problem. Too bad given how good a deal this is. I had a T100T that I had no problems with for years. This was just not meant to be. Amazon as usual is great. Returned no problem.
