This seemed like beautiful machine, at first. My background is in IT. I built custom computers to put myself through college and had always found ACER components to be reliable enough that I used them extensively - particularly motherboards. I currently own 8 laptop computers of various brands and ages and Ive never had an issue with any of them that required that I get help from a service department beyond an email or two.. till now. ACERs quality control, or lack thereof, in the laptop department is cited in several reviews for this machine. In my case, a hinge on the computer was too tight. This caused the area it was mounted to to break which then put all the pressure of opening/closing the computer on the case - specifically the frame around the monitor which split open. After getting ACER involved and explaining, they found "no manufacturing defect" so they would not honor their warranty. Im at the mercy of their "experts" despite my own expertise contradicting theirs. End result: $660 to repair and a lost customer. If they were even willing to meet me half-way, Id have respected them for their willingness to accept their experts cant prove their assertions any more than I can. FWIW, I should point out that the customer service reps I spoke with were nice and friendly but, considering the result, it just ended up feeling like I was just politely stabbed in the gut.

It was great in the 2 months it worked. Now the screen goes black all of the sudden when he’s using it and Acer will do nothing to replace it. I think that after spending over $1,000.00 on this computer it should have lasted more than 2 months. I bought it for my son who was leaving for Kuwait in the Air Force He went to Kuwait and is now starting classes on line while he’s there but now has no computer. The customer service woman could have cared less. He is shipping the computer back to me but I’m not sure what to do with it since acer is not standing behind their product and doesn’t want it back

I purchased this laptop to take on a trip. It arrived and I was very excited. After I booted up the computer it looked just fine. However I ran a benchmark on it and it showed that only an Intel HD 630 card was installed when it was suppose to come with a Nvidia 1060. I did a windows update... nothing. I then went to Nvidia and downloaded the driver and it said there was no matching hardware. I then called the support number for it. There is this nice card in the box that says dont call Amazon, call Acer. I did and they said that since I purchased it from Amazon the only way they could help me is to tell me to return the product to Amazon for a refund. What a huge disappointment.

The laptop was out of the box for two weeks before the GPU failed. Support was OK, but a hardware repair would take seven to ten days turnaround, and no guarantee that the problem wouldnt happen again. Easier to wipe it, and send it back to Amazon for a refund, and get something better. My reccomendation is to avoid this particular machine. It is built well, and was snappy while it lasted, but failing after two weeks has certainly made me decide that Acer is on my Do Not Buy list.

I am one year into ownership of this laptop and I am incredibly disappointed. At first, I was impressed with the fast loading times and the powerful Geforce 1060 graphics card. The exterior cases feels nice and solid. For the price, the specs seem too good to be true. So, why the low ratings for Material, Picture, and Sound quality? This laptop crashes whenever I try launching most of my games. I have tried nearly everything to fix this thing. Ive tried using the recovery partition that it came with, rolling back the drivers, updating the drivers, and everything in between-- including clean installs of NVIDIAs drivers and reflashing the BIOS. System stability deteriorated to about 10-15 minutes between crashes before I swapped out the RAM. Today, I swapped in RAM that should be superior to the OEM Kingston sticks. Stability has improved *slightly* but my games are still crashing. Perhaps I can do more. But I SHOULDNT HAVE TO. When I buy a product I expect it to work without having to spend hours of my free time trying to troubleshoot it. I cant send the laptop in for work because Im in Afghanistan. Perhaps I was naive expecting this thing to work without having to RMA the entire thing. Anyway, shame on Acer for whatever horrible quality control issue this is. Ill probably try to RMA the entire thing when I rotate back stateside, but what a huge disappointment. Buy this thing if you feel like taking a gamble.
