Ive had good experiences with my past 2 Acers, and this one looks GREAT on paper - 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, modern i5 Intel processor, 1080p IPS screen, etc. So, I had high hopes for it. I thought this would be a solid replacement for my 7-year-old Acer Aspire V3 thats starting to fall apart. But in reality, this laptop is not worth getting. A lot of the other reviews on this page are those ones where they get a free laptop in return for leaving a review, so be weary of their glowing praises. First off, they must have put a really low quality WiFi card in this laptop (I compared with a friend who was sitting next to me at the library using the same internet, and his webpages were loading 6-8 seconds faster than mine). The low-voltage mobile processor (i5-8265) cant handle much without the fan turning on (even watching YouTube videos seems to cause a strain). Probably wont be a big deal if youre just using 2-3 internet tabs or browsing small Word docs. But anything more than that will be a stretch. When I opened a design file, it felt like the laptop was going to explode. And it was lagging. And I think I got a defective screen on mine - it has a yellowish tint to it, and the picture looks very pixelated and off-color. Frankly, my old 720p laptop screen looks better. Thats sort of the gamble that you take with Acer though; they have poor quality control. The good things -- the keyboard and trackpad are OK, and the keyboard is backlit. its also fairly light for a 15 inch laptop. Overall, there are better laptops out there for the money.
