Like many others, Ive struggled with wireless mice for years... bad tracking, signal drop, uncomfortable to use, short battery life. Im DONE with all that, lol. For the past three years I have used (and gotten for others) the M510 and the M310 mice, and they always ALWAYS work. I use the bigger M510 for my desktops at home and work, and the M310 for my laptop. Heres the thing about the M310: its that perfect intermediate-sized mouse thats still very usable even with bigger hefty hands like mine. Some mobile mice are just too small, but not this one. For people with small hands (my wife whos 53" and barely over 100lbs) this is the perfect everything mouse, mobile or desktop. I understand we need stuff smaller for traveling but some of those mobile mice are like miniatures and thats just counterproductive. Also, the tracking is by far the best Ive used (and Ive argued with a lot of different Microsoft wireless mice in my day). I honestly think the Logitech mice could track on a slice of pizza, lol. Connection is the best, truly plug-n-play, at least on Win 7 & 8.1, not sure how Mac folks get this running. Just make sure you use the USB port thats closest to your mouse, whether that be back of PC or top of case, etc. For the price and with Amazons amazing return policy, give this mouse a whirl, you wont be disappointed. For me its M510 for desktop and M310 for mobile, hands down. But I do use the M310 on some desktops, such as the recording PC at church in the sound booth where space it tight, and its great. If I was asked to vote for one mouse on earth that would satisfy mostly everyone, the M310 would be it.

Works well with my Laptop. The rubber sides, keep it firmly in your hand. I have neuropathy in my hands, and tend to drop things easily, but not this mouse. The on and off buttons, on almost all of the wireless mice Ive used, arent always easy to tell if I have it turned on properly. However, an added plus for this mouse is that it has a green light that comes on to show its power is on, when you first activate it. Buttons click firmly, and rotation of the wheel can be felt easily too. I hope it lasts as long as the last Logitech Wireless Mouse I got. I still have the old one, its just used on another Laptop.

Surprisingly, because some of their gadgets can be on the pricey end (also known as the high end), Logitech has become an industry leader for to inexpensive mice, computer speakers and keyboards. Not surprisingly, when it comes to Logitech gadgets, quality stays high even at the less expensive low end. The M310s are some of the prettiest no frills wireless mice you can buy and they perform well too. And, calling them no frills may not be entirely fair because these mice, besides being pretty - and at the time of this review Logitech had five colors/patterns styles - they are also good mice and I am in fact planning to keep using my Red Tendrils as my office mouse. Very briefly, this is what the M310s have going for them: - EASE OF INSTALLATION - On purpose, I attempted to set up my mouse without looking at the manual, a folded, English/Spanish/French Getting started with sheet. 3 minutes later I was using my new mouse. Everything was quick and easy, beginning with the Easy Open tab that allowed me to quickly take the mouse out of the bullet-proof plastic enclosure and do it without heavy-duty shears. Installation goes like this: insert the supplied AA battery into the mouse body, plug the small nano receiver into a USB port... THE END. You are ready to use the mouse. Or so it went on my Windows 7 laptop. By the way, I plugged it into a docking station USB port and it worked without a problem. - SIMPLICITY - This is the mouse for the rest of us. Theres no need to install anything from Web sites or discs and the buttons are down to the minimum: left button, right button and a clickable scrolling wheel. And there is an on-off button on the bottom but you dont need to worry about that because the mouse will turn itself off when not used for a while. And, THERE IS NO MANUAL, because theres no need for one. - EFFICIENT, INNOVATIVE - There are quite a few power-saving features that should allow the mouse to operate for up to 12 months on one AA battery, or so Logitech claims. Besides the auto-off feature, there are no LEDs and the laser seems to be a very low power one because no visible light is emitted. The nano style receiver becomes almost invisible once plugged into a USB port. This is a very good thing, especially if you are using this with a laptop or a Netbook. - DESIGN, ERGONOMICS - The M310 is a lot more than a pretty face but being pretty does not hurt. Sure you can pick the silver style but if violet or blue or the more flamboyant red tendrils or big top stripes match your environment and your lifestyle, you can get one. The symmetric shape ensures that the mouse can be operated with ease either right or left-handed. Buttons can be swapped and some customization is available with Logitechs SetPoint 6.1 software installed (see note). This is a medium size mouse with a comfortable shape. The rubberized sides allow for an easy, comfortable grip. - SPECS - I only used the M310 on a Windows 7 but Logitech claims that it should also work on XP, Vista and MacOS X 10.4 or later. As I mentioned already, a USB port is needed. What you get for you money is the mouse, the nano receiver, one AA battery and the quick setup guide (not really needed). Logitech promises a 3-year limited warranty with the emphasis on limited. - EVALUATION - I am very happy with this mouse and anyone who wants a basic mouse should be happy with it. Following a few weeks of use, I was unable to detect any shortcomings. I am compelled to rate the M310 a 5-star. ______________________________________ Note: Even though I couldnt find any reference in the supplied documentation, some customization is possible via SetPoint 6.1 which can be downloaded from Logitech - search for M310, select your operating system and you should be able to download the software. Once installed, SetPoint will allow you to: - swap right/left buttons - assign specific functions to the middle button/wheel - configure the scrolling size - control pointer speed/acceleration - check battery status - enable game mode These are all nice things but I was happy with the defaults. Left-handed users may WANT to download SetPoint.

(Pros) Easy to grip for high levels of control while gaming or doing photo editing. Rubber sides are a nice anti-slip texture. No side buttons near the thumb to accidentally click. (I dont need extra buttons, so this is a big win for me). Longer, narrower form factor that fits well in a narrow hand while still supporting the palm of the hand. Many other mice are designed for large hands shaped more like huge paws, or theyre so small only your fingertips rest on them. (Both designs lead to hand fatigue in the wrong hand). Micro receiver dongle that stores inside the battery compartment. My previous similar model Logitech mouse had a big USB receiver you could easily misplace.(Hence replacing it!) Only takes one battery, vs the old Logitech versions two. This means its more energy efficient and lighter in weight. Does not feel flimsy. Quiet mouse wheel and clicking. Does not sound like a cheap $5.00 mouse, but it is much less expensive than the "twin" model of mouse this replaces. (Cons) None yet.

I own 3 of these M310s. They are all in service on different PCs (a Sony laptop, desktop I put together and a Dell all-in-one) running Windows 8.1. Every single one has the same problem: randomly, the mouse cursor stops moving for around 10 seconds. Every other function continues to work (scroll wheel, left and right buttons) except that the mouse cursor will not move on the screen. This is infuriating when you are in the middle of something. The only thing you can do is wait it out. It usually happens every couple of days of light usage. This morning it happened 4 times in two hours on my laptop. Im now shopping for replacements.

I was concerned with ergonomics mostly and contemplated a lot before I found what I was looking for. With so many mice available there are the good and bad reviews but let the bad reviews not change your mind because mice, especially ergonomic concerns are all very subjective. This is what I failed to understand initially and thats why it took me much time to realize that. Since every mouse would be different to everybody, you shouldnt base your buying decision solely on that unless you start seeing some kind of a pattern with bad reviews which could mean defect in product that majority has found about. I had to chose between M305 and this mouse because it is "palm grip" type and bigger than M305. I picked M310 and now my hand can rest on it without being tense which isnt the case with my Microsoft Mouse 3000 "claw grip" mouse because I cant rest my palm easily on it and after long period of using it, I start feeling a bit of pain in my palm and hand. I now put my Microsoft Mouse 3000 aside and use only M310 with my laptop because not only does it offer good ergonomics, it also has mini-USB unified connector that goes into your USB port and stays there forever which is very convenient. Compared to USB transceiver of my Microsoft Mouse 3000, this one is a lot smaller, its hardly noticeable and nothing will hit it accidentally even if you decided to dance with your laptop in crowded place. This mouse came with disposable battery but since I have only used this mouse one month only averaging 4-5 hours, I cannot tell yet how much battery lasts but given the popularity of low self-discharge durable batteries today, you can forget about worrying because after all, its only one battery that mouse uses and you can buy a pack of 4 batteries for around $10 of either eneloop or Amazon Basics. I have both brands and they are great. I have no doubt that 2000mAh eneloop can last you 1 year with average use on M310 because you can turn off this mouse when you dont plan using it for some time. There is a green small LED in the middle that turns on for a few short seconds after you either turn you mouse or bring it out of standby state. In terms of functionality, it only has 3 buttons which suffices my browsing and office needs (I would appreciate 2 more buttons for back and forth surfing though) but if you do more than just browsing internet and office work, you will be missing at least 2 buttons more. I dont remember myself installing drivers and utility that came on CD with this mouse, but rather just plugging in and Windows 7 installing required drivers automatically. If you are gamer, there is one thing I am confident about - there is no utility that would allow you to record macro commands for expanded functionality in video games compared to Razer mice that have this. Actually in obsessive search for best mouse ergonomics-wise, I have bought Razer DeathAdder which was expensive and unnecessary for the purpose I bought M310 for. The wheel on M310 is what I needed because it doesnt just glide freely but has so to say "tiny stoppers" which sound clicky bettering your navigation and allowing you to break with accuracy after scrolling to certain positions. The range of this mouse is way better than of Microsoft Mouse 3000 which was like 1.5 meters max from transceiver and I had to be next to my laptop to use it. With Logitech M310 the range is now enough for me to stand at the rooms door and controlling laptop at the end of room which I am sure is not the farthest it can do. There is one thing I liked the least which is high sensitivity of left and right buttons because do to me resting my hand on mouse, fingers tend to add weight on buttons resulting in accidental clicks. My experience is subjective however so keep that in mind so what I might have not liked, you wouldnt deem inconvenient. To conclude, I am very satisfied with my Logitech M310! Its has small transceiver, a good wireless range, it is conservative in energy because it can be turned off and automatically enter standby state when idle, it offers smooth scrolling and tracking, it has parking slot for its small transceiver covered by retractable cover which helps mobility. If you are mobile kind of person, working on your laptop doing office work or plain web surfing then you wont go wrong with M310.

But the sensor isnt centered, which will irk a big fraction of users who are used to Logitechs previous M505/525s. Context: I use a fingertip grip as opposed to claw or palm grip. The scroll wheel is actually my favorite in terms of texture/traction because it allows for the easiest middle-clicking, but it doesnt side scroll. The clicking mechanism takes less effort than the M525 and the M505, so thats good. The side grips were quite nice (much better than the M560), but all these ergonomic benefits do not outweigh the off-centered sensor. For anyone whos used to a centered sensor, you know EXACTLY what I mean (you pivot on your wrist, so moving side to side translates to moving diagonally up to the right and diagonally down to the left when the sensor isnt centered. ANNOYING. Terrible for gamers.) If your mousing field on your mousepad looks like an actual square (where your sensor actually moves to), then you wont find this annoying. BUT if, like me, you pivot on your wrist, and your mousing field actually looks like, say, an ultrasound-shaped thing, then youll hate it despite its ergonomics.

This is absolutely the worst mouse I have ever owned. It is lucky to get 6 days on a AA battery. The most I have gotten was maybe three weeks. I have been through at least 6 batteries since buying it. Yes - I did try batteries of different brands. It made no difference. Often after as little as two or three days it starts to act erratically. The pointer freezes up. Then it jumps. No problem at all with the buttons. I thought I was making a good choice when I chose a major brand product, but this is terrible. No more Logitech for me ever.

I love this mouse. PROS: This mouse has Logitechs "Advanced 2.4 GHz wireless connectivity," which means its reliable like a mouse with a cord, with fast data transmission and no delays. I havent had one issue with it being boggy or inaccurate. This mouse is smooth and responsive - it just feels right. Great design ... this mouse is considered a full-size. It fits my hand perfect. I dont like the tiny laptop mice. This mouse measures just under 4-3/8" long. I love the contoured design with soft rubber grips. Its even great for either hand. Its very comfortable, so I can use it for hours and hours with no issues. The plug-and-forget nano-receiver is a great benefit. I just leave it in my laptop all the time. This mouse also has an on/off switch to save battery life, when not in use, as well as a battery indicator light that shows up for a few seconds right after the mouse is turned on. I bought the Big Top Stripe mouse and I think its beautiful. I would have preferred something in a mauve-pink color, to match my Sony Laptop, but Im still happy with the one I bought. CONS: The only thing I didnt love at first about this mouse is the scrolling wheel. It didnt seem as smooth as my previous mouse. It kind of jumps vs just smoothly rolls down the page. I went into my laptops control panel and changed the number of lines the wheel would scroll with one roll, and that made it better. It didnt make the wheel operate any smoother, but it allowed me to move a further distance quicker when scrolling, so I didnt have as many "clicks" to have to deal with. (In case you want to do that - Control Panel / Hardware / Mouse / Wheel). I changed mine to 6 lines at a time. I would highly recommend this mouse and Amazon has the best price I found on it. If you order alot from Amaozon, become a Prime Member and get your mouse fast, with free shipping.

After decades of using and loving Microsoft wired mice, I decided to check out wireless mice, to avoid dragging the mouse cable around. Im a software developer, and my desk where my mouse sits is worn shiny smooth. To understand my comments in context, when Im programming, the keyboard and mouse become virtual extensions of my body, and Im highly sensitive to even slight imperfections, like the drag of a mouse cord or the force needed to click. First, I bought two Microsoft wireless mice, and they didnt work correctly. I bought two different model Microsoft wireless mice, and they didnt work at all. I wont be buying any more Microsoft wireless mice. Next, I bought two Logitech Wireless Mouse M310 (Silver) mice, and they worked perfectly, right out of the box. Just put the supplied battery in the mouse, plug the little Nano Transceiver into a USB port, and youre up. Finally, a wireless mouse that simply does what its supposed to do! There is an on/off switch on the bottom of the mouse to conserve the battery, and a slot to hold the tiny USB Nano Transceiver for travel. I believe the mouse partially powers down automatically when not moved for a while, to conserve battery. Ive only been using them for a few days, and cant yet speak to battery life or longevity. But the only minor con so far is that the surface of the mouse where your two clicking fingers fit is slightly sloped to the side. Because Im used to the old-style classic Microsoft Wheel Mouse Optical , which is not sloped that way, Im having to adjust. I also had to adjust the tracking speed in Windows Control Panel, but that was expected. These mice are a bit shorter than my old mice, but thats no problem. The clicking pressure feels just right, and the sides of the mice are firm rubber, which gives a nice feel and good grip. The scroll wheel has detents, which Im used to. The force it takes to slide the mouse feels about right, and I like not having to drag a mouse cord. I can place the mice within 2 inches of each other with no interference, and both work fine across the office (about 20 feet) and through a wall, from the PCs. I plan to buy more of these mice, and I recommend them to anyone looking for a simple wireless mouse that just does what its supposed to do.
