Ive purchased two that have both broken. I use them regularly as a student with a surface book, and put them in my backpack. I love the form factor and the functionality. However, for some reason they continually drop their signal. I know theyre still functional because if I put my finger in the sensor area the mouse pointer still moves. I do not understand why the mouse device signal keeps stopping. This is the second device that has failed after a few months in exactly the same way. Ive gone online to troubleshoot. Ive disabled all bluetooth power saving mode options. Ive updated my drivers and firmware. Ive restarted. Ive uninstalled and reinstalled all the software. Ive changed the batteries.

Ordered and delivered last week. While configuring the mouse on Windows 10, I got a message that Logitech Options Software was required to activate the advanced hardware (scroll wheel tilt and side buttons) on the mouse. I followed the link and down loaded the software (zip file). I extracted all the files and looked for the install file--NOT there. Went to Logitech site and asked for help (only contact allowed was via e-mail). Crickets! Crickets! Crickets! I have a mouse that has basic functions (left/Right buttons and Scroll wheel). If that is good enough for you, buy this mouse (Note: there is a cheaper basic function mouse on the market). Found the answer! The Windows download area of the Logitech web site was downloading software for Macintosh. Someone fixed this and the Windows area is now downloading an install file for Windows. No one from Logitech has responded to my request for help. My next purchase will DEFINITLY NOT be from Logitech!

EDIT: (01-31-2018): I used the mouse for a full day yesterday and I cant take it any more. Returned it today for a refund. EDIT (01-29-2018): Replacement arrived today. It is only slightly better, the mouse wheel is still noisy and loose. This will be my last Logitech product. Another company down the drain. EDIT (01-26-2018): Well this stinks, the older model is out of stock. So today I sent it in for a replacement, well at least there is no charge to ship it back. Unfortunately, now I am reading that other people are having the same problem with the wheel, even after multiple replacements; sounds like Logitech either cheapened up or it is just a bad design. Well, went to pick up more shipping envelopes today as I am not too optimistic that I will be sending the next one back as well. Stay away from this mouse. I have the older version of the M510 and really like it. The mouse wheel on this new version (910-002533) is very loose side to side and very noisy, and the mouse click travel is short.....probably going to return it if I can still find the older version (910-001822) and it doesnt cost more to ship it back than the mouse is worth.

I really liked this mouse and I thought since I paid a little extra I would be getting a better product. My last, less expensive Logitech mouse failed after about a year because the USB receiver stopped working. I hoped this one would be different. This one worked great for about 2-1/2 months and then the mouse stop receiving input from the USB and completely stopped working. Changing batteries did not help. I even cleaned the USB receiver and nothing. I learned by trial and error that taking out the USB receiver and then re-inserting it would solve the problem. At first this helped and I would get connection again for a few days. Eventually I needed to do this every couple hours and then it finally went completely dead and no amount of re-inserting helped. Of course I questioned my actual USB port (Macbook) thinking it was defective but when I tested it with various other USB inputs, it works like a charm. Thus I have come to the conclusion that Logitech makes defective USB receivers so that buyers have to purchase a new one more often. Prove me wrong, Logitech and send me a replacement that doesnt go bad after 3 months.

Update: So this mouse worked fine on my SurfacePro4 Win10 machine for several months without issue. It was plug and play. Then, one day, nothing. My system cant even see the USB transmitter. I plugged in my cheapo wireless travel mouse, and it worked fine. I took the Logitech mouse home and plugged it into my home computer (Win7), and viola, it worked! I swapped out my work mouse for the identical one I had at home, and when I plugged that second one into my Win10 machine, nothing. So, its either my machine or my OS. Since my cheapo wireless mouse works, its not my machine... its Win10. I did a quick internet search and found Logitech has some unifying software found here: support.logitech.com/en_us/product/wireless-mouse-m510/downloads# ...once I downloaded their support software, restarted my system, and then plugged in the mouse, all was up and running smoothly again. Ah, Win10... there must have been an update somewhere in the background that blipped the usability of the mouse. Its all fixed now and Im a happy camper again... for the moment. Original: I really like this mouse. Fits well in hand, is super fast and accurate in movement, clicks, and scrolling, but it died after about 3 months... just like several of the reviewers had noted (heavy sigh). If I would have dug deeper into the reviews, I would have seen several people have the same issue with the mouse just stopping working after a few months... just like mine did. I have mine at work and it stays on my desk. I shut down my SurfacePro every day, but the transponder stays in the docking station and I turn the mouse off in the evening when I leave. This morning, it just never woke back up. Who knows what went bad, but I tried different ports and different batteries... to no avail. I initially ordered two of these, so Ill do a little troubleshooting on the working one at home and see what went kaputz.

Ive used this mouse for about 2 years. I find it comfortable, smooth and accurate. The battery life is great. I have used it for probably an average of 36 hours each week and have gone through 1 set of batteries. I do not like the side click with the scroll wheel. I find it very difficult to only press down. This I could not map the left and right to do anything special. After 2 years of CAD type work, the middle mouse button has stopped being as responsive and requires far more force to actuate. I plane to take it apart and see if I can breath some life back into the switch, but it would be nice if it would have lasted longer than 2 years. They likely design to wear out so that you need to buy another one.

I went to the address on the packaging and downloaded the software it suggested based on my operating system. The software started asking me all sorts of questions about my keyboard for some reason and if I want to send information to Logitech. After it installed it says I have to restart. So I shut down all my programs and restart. I reopened the software and it says This software does not support all of the Logitech Devices (meaning the new mouse as it is the only Logitech device) and then sends me to a link where I have to register to download new software. Wheel is very stiff and the laser cannot gather information when on the smooth spot on my desk where my old Logitech mouse was.

I wish I had a dollar for every lame review that complained about the receiver wasnt included and/or the need to wake the mouse up by clicking a button. To get the longest cell life all of these goes into sleep in a very short period of time (a few seconds). The USB receiver is always located in the body of the mouse under the battery cover. Range seems to be on par with all the others I have had experience with. Longevity will be determined in time. Pros; 1. Full size, easy to hole, 2. Two AA cell, no short life AAAs, 3. Side to side wheel function perfect for Streaming Boxes that access some movie sites, Cons; 1. Debatable left side buttons, the rear one acts as an escape (return) when using Streaming Boxes. (I havent tried these on a Win PC). I have hit that more than once causing extra buttons clicks to return where I was, 2/ Not the best value, others as good less expensive, 3. I prefer more of a detent for the scroll wheel. This has very little.

I gave this mouse 3 stars for the following reasons. 1) Poor reliability. I bought this about a year ago, and it seemed to be okay. But now it has malfunctioned and needs replacement. 2) Poor design. While the buttons on the side of the mouse seem like a good idea, in practice they are very difficult to use. What ends up happening is that the user will click one of top buttons while trying to grip the mouse to push a side button because they have so much resistance. They are a gimmick that is useless in real life. 3) The mouse is very comfortable and fits your hand. 4) The control program is easy to use and user friendly. Setting up the various options is easy. 5) I am adding this item after using the replacement mouse about 3 months. The mouse has started registering double clicks when I have only depressed the button once. Because of this added flaw, I am downgrading my rating to 2 stars. I no longer recommend this mouse because of the added flaw listed as #5 above. Spend more money and buy a better quality mouse, youll be happier and end up saving money in the end.

Product works fine, however if it fails during the warranty period, then you are in trouble. I bought this mouse, and it worked fine, and suddenly within the warranty period it stopped working. I called Logitech, and explained the situation, we troubleshooted the problem and realized that it was a warranty issue and it will be replaced. The CSR said that this would take 5-7 business days. Well its now been 4 weeks and numerous calls to customer service and nothing has happened yet. For the last two weeks, my request status has been approved and about to be shipped. Everytime I call, they say the product will be shipped now, and then a few days pass by, and then nothing. How can it take more than 2 days forget 2 weeks for Logitech to ship the replacement? and its still not shipped yet. I am not sure why Logitech offers warranty when they cannot honor it.
