This is a great wireless keyboard and it works amazing. Very good quality, excellent feel to the keys. Trackpad works great. However...I was looking for a wireless keyboard to replace my Adesso keyboard with integrated trackpad that died. This is significantly smaller than my full size keyboard and as a result, my wrists are tilted in at a weird angle and almost immediately I experienced terrible pain from my shoulder, all the way to my wrist on my right hand. It has gotten worse with each passing day. After about 10 days, I have to replace it with something larger. I wont be able to continue using it.

I bought this as part of a home entertainment ensemble. I have a laptop PC and a Roku Premiere Plus connected to an LG smart TV. I also sometimes use it to help with typing on an Amazon FireTV that I have in another room. The Unifying receiver works as advertised and the K830 shares the same receiver as an M510 wireless mouse, cutting down on the number of occupied USB ports on the laptop. The range of these newer wireless peripherals is a huge improvement over older designs that could only be a few feet away from the receiver, although the bluetooth range may be shorter than the RF range. I havent compared them directly. The inclusion of bluetooth capability makes this a very versatile keyboard which can be used with many different devices. That is one of the main advantages of this unit compared to the cheaper models such as the K400, which I also own. The other advantages are the rechargeable battery and the backlight. I think the advantages are worth the extra cost, but the K830 is a pricey keyboard even at the Amazon price, which is significantly discounted from retail. In use, typing is similar to using a good laptop keyboard, although it has better travel and the keys are less mushy than most laptop keyboards. Some people complain that the function keys are only usable with a key combo, but this is configurable with the Logitech Options software. Most of my frustration has come from trying to use the trackpad. Trackpads are almost always a less than satisfactory experience, but the one on the K830 is more accident prone than most. The trackpad and the cost are the reasons why I gave it four stars instead of five.

This is so bad its hard to even believe. The trackpad is almost unusable. It is tiny, and jerky and slow at that. And no, its not my laptop because my laptop is actually pretty decent (16 gb ram, gtx 1060, ssd etc). The trackpad is extremely annoying to use. It is slow to react, the buttons are awkwardly placed and overall a very low quality product.

Logitech makes such great stand alone keyboards I dont know why they cant integrate that quality into its AIO model. I simple wanted a backlit keyboard for my living room multimedia, firstly the trackpad on this is horrible. Its smooth as ice, which makes responsiveness sub par to say the least. The trackpad buttons are already recessed after very minimal use. I have a logitech k810 keyboard which is lit upon hoover over the buttons, with this keyboard you need to press a button. Why wouldnt logitech integrate the same kind of technology on this device? Sigh I see the reason for the price drop on this device, save your money until Logitech decides to put more effort into their all in one models.

I control my laptop with wireless keyboards for the last 10 years. Its hooked up to my plasma TV and not even close to me. Ive always used non illuminatedv Logitech wireless keyboards(with built in mosey pad) but I have problem seeing the keys in the dark. I finally broke down and bought this expensive backlit keyboard and its awesome. I wish I had known about this years ago. But, I had to send the first two back because of issues with the micro USB charging port. The first one broke completely inside and the second one just stopped working and would not recharge. Amazon was awesome about sending replacements. They would send me one before they got the broken one in the mail. Even though it wasnt Amazons fault, they said they felt bad about things and gave me a $10 credit. Granted,I am one of Amazon s best customers, but I sometimes cant believe the level of customer service I get from them. I love Amazon. Back to the keyboard. I highly recommend this product, assuming the charging port is going to work for you. It is expensive, but it does exactly what I want it to do, which is clearly illuminate the keyboard in a dark room. It holds the charge pretty long. Tip: Use the supplied charging cord instead of an old one you might have on hand. Do NOT use or disturb the keyboard while it is charging. It is very possible that even mild tugging on the cord made the micro usb receptacle fail prematurely. You will get plenty of warning when to recharge you keyboard. One suggestion to Logitech. On your next model please illuminate the right and left clicks for the mouse pad. Sometimes I have trouble finding them because they are not illuminated. And Amazon, I love you bro!

I had this same keyboard for a long time but it was destroyed in a move. The original cost over $100 on Amazon three years ago. They disappeared from Amazon and then came back cheaper so I jumped on it. After just days of use, the left mouse button has permanently depressed. Still functional but depressed, feels flat. This is a great keyboard, the range is good, the ergonomics, feel, and responsiveness of the touch pad are excellent. But this latest offering is lighter and nowhere what it was. Im going to exchange and see what happens. If this occurs again, no way will I keep it. *** Update one hour later. I pressed the right trackpad button a hundred times or so to simulate the normal use the left has received this week and sure enough, that button sunk in and depressed quite a bit as well. This isnt defect, this is design and workmanship. Forget the exchange. My first tech job was with a competing brand, supporting their trackballs and other input products. When we shifted manufacturing this same crap started happening everywhere. I watched customers return item after item while we knew all along they were all that way - all we could do is keep granting exchanges and try to keep people happy. The noticeable difference between this newer keyboard and the older is weight, and the Logitech font has changed on the bottom right - from their old square font to this newer rounded one with the lower case l. I was so sure of this that I threw away the manufacturers box but Amazon just said no problem. Five stars for Amazon but Logitech you just lost another star, down to one. I have a Logitech K400 non-back-lit keyboard that we have dropped and beat because it was only $25 or so. Going back to that.

Bought 4/15 last year. The problem lies in poor engineering. Worked well until the USB socket used to charge the keyboard came loose. It was intermittently charging then it physically detached from the internal PC board. The issue lies in the use of a sub mini USB port. It was surface mounted and could not stand up to the weekly charging regiment. A better choice would have been a larger form factor of the plug/socket. May have saved the manufacturer $ .10 BUT ITS A BUST FOR THE CONSUMER.

Ive bought a total of three of these keyboards over the years and two of them are fully functional. The key illumination is useful and tastefully done but fails to illuminate the orange markings so you find yourself pushing buttons in the dark with them. (function key-presses) Also the charging is done with a standard micro-USB socket that is soldered to the main circuit board in classic cheap cellphone style. This keyboard is four times as heavy as a cell phone and if it falls off the couch while plugged in and gets the right yank at that port as it falls, it can rip that port right off. It would have been nice if the port was attached better, separate for easy replacement, or better yet magnetically linked so a yank simply unplugs it. I had this unfortunate event happen to me and quickly learned that my surface mount soldering skills have much to be desired. I ended up buying a magnetic plug-in dongle combination to protect the ports of my surviving two keyboards. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07GXJFMBR/ref=crt_ewc_title_oth_4?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A1NPBTCCNKHGMG From what I can tell *ALL* Logitech products eventually have their micro-switches wear out and these keyboards are no exception so if your use of it involves a lot of key/button mashing while playing games, you will wear this keyboard out earlier than you would like. I really wish they would spend the small pittance necessary to get some quality here. Its the path from four to five stars in my opinion. Complaints aside, its actually a pretty good keyboard, full size keys (for the most part) with a handy usable touch-pad. Actually I wish I could disable the auto-click feature so hovering over the pad doesnt cause a click, especially in the dark with the keyboard on your lap, a less than optimal context for dexterous motion. Some people only want a click of the button to generate a "mouse" click. There may be a windows tweak to handle that but if youre not running windows its a no-go. Ive lived with these keyboards long enough to gather a long list of complaints about them, but would still recommend them because, in my opinion, their failings are not show-stoppers. Buying Logitech is a good way to guarantee at least four star quality. The market of more expensive keyboards is more likely to disappoint. Theres nothing like spending extra and then getting something inferior. Buying Logitech pretty well guarantees at least some quality so I am likely to repeat.

Bought this keyboard to be a part of my home computer, which is connected to my TV, and I didnt want to have long cables cluttering up the room. I also wanted a rechargeable keyboard so I didnt have to keep replacing batteries (rechargeable or not)... so far very good battery life (had to recharge once after about five hours of use) Five stars for the reasons that it does what I want and WORKS! The keyboard includes a flat mouse pad which works also. For all of the above reasons, five stars. Some options I would have really loved 1) trackball instead of pad 2) Integrated fingerprint reader (not sure if possible with bluetooth connection but would be nice to have) 3) 1 or 2 USB ports in order to connect say a biometric fingerprint scanner (again not sure if possible with Bluetooth but would be nice if possible)

I have a half a dozen wireless keyboards (half of them are logitechs of various models) being used on several PCs and some handheld devices. For my living room HTPC, I wanted a wireless backlit kb with trackpad for times when I will use it for light computer work (web browsing, file management, etc.). For a while, nobody made one of a decent size (I have one that is the size of a game controller, but isnt suited for actually typing on, and another where the keys are much too close together and smaller). Logitech has several nice wireless keyboards, but they are always lacking something. The K810 is very nice (backlit, great weight, good key spacing, wakes up immediately), but it doesnt have a trackpad. The K400r is also very nice (great weight, good key spacing (except for the horrible right-side shift key that is shares space with the up arrow), and a trackpad), but it isnt backlit. The K830 comes very close to what I really want in a wireless keyboard in a low light environment. The key illumination is very good, the trackpad is responsive, the key spacing is great (and you get a full-sized right-side shift key). What is keeping this from being a 5-star product (for me) is that it doesnt wake up as nicely as the K810 does. The K810 wakes up when it detects your hand moving near it (nearly touching it). The K830 requires actually pressing a key. Its quite heavy - surprisingly so. If this sat on a desk in front of me all the time, or spent a lot of time in my lap, I probably wouldnt mind it as much. But, it spends most of its time on a shelf near my easy chair. Reaching for it from the shelf is when the weight is most notable. If this was a little lighter, and if this would wake up with either movement or the way the K810 does, it would be a 5-star device.
