If you need a larger gaming pad that can easily be folded or sandwiched between a laptop screen and keyboard, the AmazonBasics Gaming Mouse Pad is perfect. Those small mouse pads can simply be tossed, whether you are gaming or doing office work. The top fabric is responsive to my older optical mice and newer laser mice. It feels soft and comfortable against my skin. The bottom rubbery feel backing holds the pad securely to the top of my plastic topped desks. I love the large size -- why did I not get one of these years ago!?

Ive completely gone through three of these things in less than a year. I have a Logitech optical mouse that apparently uses a very low power laser to track the fibers in the pad. The pad works great at the beginning. But after a month or so, the mouse stops being able to track on the surface accurately, and gradually it gets worse and worse until it wont track at all. Ive washed the pad with no improvement. New batteries in the mouse dont help either. It seems that the area of the pad that gets used somehow loses its sensitivity with the mouse. If you use another unused portion of the pad (like near the edge) it will work, but then that, too, seems to "wear out". It seems that the laser in the mouse somehow modifies the surface of the pad over time so the mouse wont track on it. Either that or just the friction of the mouse moving on it. I will try another brand of pad or maybe another type of mouse.

I have always loved AmazonBasics to begin with. They are usually plain products that are really high quality. Great mouse pad and the size options are great. The standard mouse pad (which is what I bought) is about 8x13 inches or so, and its a great size in accordance to the sensitivity of my mouse. The material this is made out of it a very nice and high quality cloth that is very comfortable to use for a long time. Instead of being a cheap plastic that some other mouse pads are made of that can crack, scratch, and be harder to carry, this is made of a flexible and very durable material. You never need to worry about it cracking and you can roll it up to store away if you like. When Im using it, I never feel like my mouse may slip off the pad, as if it isnt big enough. Another great perk of this mouse pad is that it is the perfect material to decorate. I used some different color sharpies and I was able to draw a nice design on it. In other words, its customizable! Instead of having a design from the factory that you may not like, you can make your own. I love this mouse pad and its a big upgrade from the last one I had.

Ive had a variety of mouse pads, this seemed like a reasonably good mouse pad, around the same price as many competing products, and has a number of good reviews. Im not sure if Ive just got a bad one, but I would not dismiss the reviews mentioning sharp edges. Unless Im wearing a long sleve shirt, I actually find this mouse pad nearly unbearable to work with. I can compare the edge to a poorly sanded piece of wood furniture, it wont splinter as that would, but its definitely something thats not comfortable to move across. Ive also found the drag on the mouse pad unreasonable, it had an almost "clingy" or "sticky" kind of feel. This was mostly fixed by hand washing it. However, personally, all things considered, Id save yourself some time, and get one of the competing products.

So first off, this one is on me... I really should have read the other reviews instead of just looking at the 4.5 stars on this and clicking "Buy now" like the good little consumer I am. Others have mentioned in their reviews that the edges are scratchy but its not that bad. I would argue that it is detrimental for a mouse pad to be even remotely scratchy due to the possible frequency of use. Not sure about you, but the entire reason I have Amazon Prime is to make it that much easier to be a hermit. Also, Just... Why? Why is this acceptable? Sorry... Trying to stay on task. Having said all that, I find it to be scratchy enough to cause enough discomfort to be distracting while I am trying to focus. I suppose at this point you might call into question my ability to focus... Thats fair. This pad https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000UEZ36W/ref=twister_B07L4HY3YD?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 is significantly better for an extra $3. Spend the extra money instead of "dealing" with scratchy edges. I mean seriously... Do you want to "deal" with your brand new product? I expected to get this thing in the mail, slap it on my desk, and go on about my day ideally completely forgetting about its existence because its big enough that should you have trouble keeping your mouse on it, you may have Parkinsons (this may be in bad taste, sorry). For me, this product literally had me putting on a sweatshirt before sitting down at my desk to protect my wrist from getting raw... Do you want a product that is going to force you to make wardrobe adjustments to use it? Pick this baby up. Kidding aside, the alternative is constantly arching my arm up in reaction to the discomfort which is not ergonomic. Like I mentioned before I shouldnt even be thinking about my mouse pads existence, ever. It should just be there silently serving its purpose. Thankless and reliable, like a good pair of underwear. I have to say... A design flaw this simple to identify (I noticed it immediately after less than 30 seconds of use in a t-shirt, but figured it would get better. It didnt.) should have been caught when Amazon paired up with whoever manufactures this pad. It just goes to show there was likely very little research put into the function of this product before it was listed. How hard would it have been to have a room full of people use this thing for an hour to see if there is any discomfort before they go and sell thousands of these... Amazon shouldnt be putting their name on this product when you can get a quality product for a few bucks more. Normally I would never leave a bad review on an item this cheap because you get what you pay for... But frankly the amount of garbage products on amazon with great reviews is astounding to me and the comfort I take is that they are all off-brands and Amazon does not put their name on them. That way if I purchase something from some brand I cant pronounce in an attempt to save money, I can grill myself for my choice and not Amazon. In this case whether they manufacture this or not, their name is still on it... I get that its only $7, but I may as well have just burned it. So now I feel like Amazon burned its customers directly and not via lack of proper vendor vetting, and that is somehow less forgivable. So if its so bad, why the 2 stars guy? How can I trust your product reviews at all? Thats a fine question my fellow hermit friend. I gave the product 2 stars because I am still a reasonable man, and if you use a wrist rest full time that would cover up the edge of the pad anyway (possible), or you are a vampire and always have longs sleeves on anyway to protect your fragile skin from the sun (slightly less likely), or you have callused skin on your wrists from excessive "Indian burn" incidents when you were a kid (I narrowly avoided this myself) then I suppose this pad would do just fine. Hope this helps some would-be buyers out there that actually take the time to read :) -Bob

This product is STILL so smelly after two months of airing outside that I cannot use it. It is going in the trash and I ordered the Italian leather one which is very nice. I have had mouse pad that needed outgasing before but usually after a month they are fine. This ones order will not go away. I find it amazing that it is Amazons choice. Maybe there has been a change in the product but it definitely isnt something that I would advise purchasing.

decent pad for the money. A little on the thin side but for the price can be overlooked. I knocked a star down. While its a decent enough pad in the middle. The edges fray and are actually gritty. Like sandpaper. My 80.00 braided mouse cord was getting cut and frayed from move it side to side over the edge of the mouse mat. The fix was to put some black tape on the edge so the mouse cord slides over the tape and not the sharp edge of the pad. So for corded mice I would like elsewhere.

Makes my steelseries rival mouse glitch out, do a 270 and spin to the ceiling or floor when Im moving my mouse across the pad. It would do this once every 30-90 minutes while gaming and it was tilting the hell out of me and making me lose fights in FPS. I tried different DPIs and nothing worked. The pad is just too sleek in its texture that its tripping out a quality gaming sensor. I normally go with steelseries qck+ but decided to try to save a few dollars because I go through about 2 pads a year for gaming, always keeping them fresh. I went back to a new steelseries qck+ and the glitching issue doesnt happen any more. This is a nice savings if it doesnt trip your mouse out but buyer beware. I also felt like a cheap ass having "Amazon basics" printed on the corner, rather than a gaming brand. Hindsight 20/20

I use my Logitech G502 gaming mouse and Logitech MX Vertical mouse on this pad. They have no problem tracking on the pad. I used to have a hard mouse pad that basically acted as sandpaper and ground away at the pads underneath my mouse and I had a bad experience with my mice not reading on cloth pads, but I figured this mouse pad was really affordable and made for gaming and people basically only game with laser mice so I gave it a shot. Luckily it works just fine and my little pads will be saved as well.
