Some said that on Apple Mac OSX this 3M Mouse Pad did not work. 3M is a great company that bases its success on quality R&D so I looked into possible problems with the Mac system. I found that on my Mac Mini the blue tooth antenna is poor so you have to have the mouse and antenna on the same side of the monitor. I am right handed, so my mouse sits on the right side of the screen, thus I had to put the Mac Mini on the right side of the monitor so the antenna is close to the mouse. When you do this, it acts "right". If you are left handed put both the mouse and Mac Mini on the Left side of the monitor. Also, when ANY mouse or screen feature is used (turned on with a check box option) in Macs "Accessibility" Systems Panel or in the "Mouse" Systems Panel, that affects the graphics-or-mouse, like zooming the screen or making the mouse cursor larger, the software delay time makes the cursor jump erratically as it moves across the screen. This is just flaky design that did not prepare for blue tooth and graphics delays. So many mega HZ and it still is not fast enough to get the mouse smooth, so the designers are sleeping me thinks... One help is to put your display screen, using the Display Systems Panel, at maximum scan rate like 60 hz frames per second not 30 and not 24. On some resolutions you are forced to lower frames per second and this makes the mouse jump, oops… Other mouse fixes: If nothing works then blow in the mouses laser light whole to clean out dirt. If you use rechargeable batteries in the mouse then change them when one third or one half used well before the system warns you. Mice are flakey with a mind of their own. So as Buckaroo Banzai (from the movie) might say "Good luck John Smith…".

I bought this because it was made by 3M and I assumed they would put the research into developing the right one. I was wrong. At first brand new - like any surface, it works. Unfortunately, the white and grey print matrix plays games with some optical mouses. It gets stuck, and just does not trigger the mouse cursor to move. It works most of the time, but just tricky is what it is. The pattern eventually wears out and there are white spots. These areas make the mouse even MORE difficult to recognize the pattern and move. Another disappointment. I was under the impression this company knew chemistry and would produce a mouse pad that was more durable than a standard printed piece of plastic. That is definitely not the case here. Stuff still gets stuck on it, and I have to sanitize the surface as regular as the plain surface of my desk, without an $8.00 mouse pad. Actually, my desk makes for a great big mouse pad, instead. Thanks alot 3M for putting your name on a product, and charging close to $10 for a fake quality mouse pad which is just an advertisement that should probably be given out for free at trade shows.

I think this mousepad is expensive, but after using an "old school" white one for a few months, and seeing the cat hair and stains it accumulated (I use it on a desk in an art studio, so it gets splattered with paint), I finally broke down and got this one, hoping it might be better. I assumed this would be hard plastic, but its not- its sort of very very firm fabric that rolls up, but is not floppy, and wipes clean. It is *wonderful*. It doesnt pick up any lint, and even after my cat comes and plops down on it and rolls around on it and stares at me (staring intensely always seems to be accompanied by excess shedding, at least with my cats) it doesnt pick up any cat hair. My cat also attempted to try and sharpen his claws on it, but that did not work (thankfully). Ive already accidentally doused it with paint, and it wiped off. Its very minimalist and clean. My apple mouse works perfectly on it. My only issue with it is that occasionally, it will make a sound/feel like nails scratching against fabric, and that sound makes me *crazy*, so thats not my favorite. But it happens rarely. Expensive mouse pad, but totally worth it.

Ive been using 3Ms textured mouse pads since they were introduced. They really do work better with optical mice, compared to monotone mouse pads. This isnt really an ergonomics product, though; its a precision enhancer. If you want, you can use this as a top layer, over a thicker mouse pad that is a bit longer and wider than the thin 3M one; I used to that. In my current setup, I use it right on the desk, and use a wrist support in front of it. Regarding wear: Ive used this heavily almost every day for months with no hint of wear-out, in an area or in spots. If you are having that problem, it likely means you either have a rough, crappy mouse that is abrading the pad, or you have a dirty mouse bottom. Mice pick up all kinds of gunk, and it sticks (a combination of skin oils, shed skin cells, dust, crumbs, etc., etc.) Clean your mouse at least once a week.

Smells terribly of plastic, even almost 2 months later. Every time I pick it up, the whole room fills with the scent. Heat warps it easily. Just one hot bowl of soup crinkled it on the edges. It gets dirty easily, and stuff sticks to it. It already has deep scratches from my mouse. Im already replacing it. Otherwise, it is a mouse pad. It is cheap, but hopefully I dont get cancer from having this terrible chunk of smelly plastic under my hand for 2 months. Then it wont be so cheap. For the people who made it, I mean.

I bought 3 of these (desktop, laptop and one for my office. They work great but they smell terrible. Toxic chemical smell that I smell as I work and stays on my hand if I work with my mouse for awhile. Ugh! I tried putting them outdoors in the sun to off-gas for a few hours. It helped a little, but I can still smell while I work. I thought I couldnt go wrong with 3M. I cant stand it anymore. I hope I can still return them for something that doesnt smell like its killing me.

My laser mouse had started having issues tracking on my desktop surface. Ive cranked up the sensitivity as high as itd go and the movement was jittery and Id have to swipe and lift the mouse multiple times to get from one side of the screen to the other. I replaced the batteries, nothing. I found some relief by placing 6 post-it notes to the bottom of my mouse. That got rid of the jittery movement but it was still tracking very slowly even at the fastest setting. With this mouse pad, all my issues are resolved. Ive removed the post-it notes and no jitters. I can move my pointer from one end of the screen to the other (3 wide screen monitors at max resolution) by moving my fingers now as opposed to having to move my entire arm. I dont need to replace my mouse anymore. This might be the best $5 Ive ever spent!

Excellent product! The bottom of this mousepad smells like hard plastic/rubber, but is not noticeable where I have it placed. The mouse I use is a Logitech M510 wireless mouse and i do not have noises made by the mousepad when i move the mouse - some people complained about the noise of the mouse moving on the mousepad, but i have no problems with that. Also, the mouse is stable and the mouse does not move on the screen when I leave the mouse on the pad. I do not know if it saves battery life - Only time will tell. I knocked-off one star, because the mousepad tends to move a bit when I move the mouse with my hand. The bottom of the mousepad has a shiny coating and it slips when I move the mouse. Other than this problem, I have no other complaints with this mousepad. If you are sensitive to harsh smells, DO NOT BUY THIS MOUSEPAD. The package it came in SMELLS of hard plastic/rubber and also the bottom of the mousepad smells too.

Very Strong Odor- it has been on my porch since I bought it but the smell has yet to dissipate. UPDATE: This product is still on my porch and it STILL smells strongly of chemicals. I have been continuing to use my old ratty Mouse Pad because it has NO odor. This product also has a smooth surface.

This is a nice mousepad for a laser mouse. I used my Bluetooth Dell mouse on my desktop for years and complained about how it periodically seemed to "disconnect." The symptom was that Id be highlighting some text or dragging an icon when suddenly the cursor would jump and drop the icon in some unintended spot or drag the partially highlighted text to some random location. Then, I tried using an old free mousepad from some tradeshow I once attended. I noticed an improvement, but the irregular pattern on the surface (advertising) seemed to cause the same symptoms. I decided to try this 3M pad, which is inscribed with a regular pattern and a reflective surface. The improvement has been dramatic and now the annoyance is gone. The pad is cushioned, but is relatively thin. The surface cleans easily. The cushion does not slip, but it also does not adhere, so it can be repositioned as needed. Not much to look at, but it works great.
